Complete lack of care for patients. I will not be back and will not recommend anyone use them because when they get a new provider, they will just tell you that you're out of luck and can no longer be a patient. Honestly, I'm shocked because this is not something I expect from Harbin clinic. I guess it's time for a change.

A staff that is truly friendly and professional is all that saves this place. The ladies working at…read morethe front desk here are courteous and lovely, and I'm absolutely not talking about them when I complain about my overall experiences here. My experience with the doctor has not been nearly so good. The last time I was in, I wanted to get a growth on my finger looked at. Almost immediately, Dr. Pewitt realized that it was nothing concerning - just a little extra skin but definitely not a wart or troublesome mole. He offered to remove it for me, because I didn't like the way it looked. I agreed. The entire appointment - including time for him to look, assess, and remove - took less than fifteen minutes. Imagine my surprise when, a few weeks later, I was billed for several hundred dollars because this office sent the skin off to a lab to have a biopsy performed. Seems a little ridiculous, considering there was never any doubt that this was not a malignant growth. After all, the doctor had mentioned removing it as an aside - not as a necessity. The fact that he intended to send it off for a biopsy was NEVER mentioned. I have a monstrously high deductible, so I am now paying for this expensive and totally unnecessary procedure out of my own cash-strapped college student pocket. When I called to express my surprise and concern about the lab bills, I was told about a state law that apparently requires clinics to submit every skin sample they removed to a biopsy. Again - THINGS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXPLAINED TO ME AT THE APPOINTMENT. Had he said, "I can take this totally harmless and benign mole off, but the law requires me to order a really expensive and totally unnecessary biopsy if I do, and you'll end up spending a few hundred bucks you don't have on a procedure you don't need," I obviously would have made a different decision. I'm sure the doctors here are perfectly capable. I have no complaints about the care I received, and I have no complaints about the lovely staff. However, I cannot get past the fact that this office orders expensive and unnecessary procedures without even discussing it with their patients. If you're visiting Harbin Dermatology and have a high out of pocket deductible, insist on being told ALL THE DETAILS before agreeing to let them do more than shake your hand.
