This library is great! I love that it's in a central location, and it's located right off the Sammamish River Trail. This library provides good covid safety options, including self checkout, self service returns, and an easy hold system. The app is easy to use and kept up to date. I haven't used the facility for a long time, so I cannot comment how it is to study or work there for extended periods. For the few minutes I am inside to pickup/drop off, the facility is clean and organized. The security guard is also polite and friendly. For those who read regularly and want newly released titles, this library has it all as well as the classics!

Updated review: Upping the rating from 3 to 4 star. In just 10 days from the below review, I saw many changes in the library. There has been a security guard at information desk in the evenings. Homeless crowd has like disappeared, there are hardly any of them sleeping and spread out on couches. The stench in the hallway is GONE. I am so thankful for this. And the place in general is quiet not overcrowded, getting back its functionality, way more silent. Thank you for bringing these changes, no matter what triggered to get them done. -------------------------------------- When compared to the crossroads branch, this one has an edge both with respect to size and utilities. You will see many study tables, reading nooks and a few rocking chairs to spend your time sensibly. There is an information desk always manned, seriously they take turns when they move around, such that you find someone to speak to!. The space is almost always crowded and a good section of those people are homeless folks, spread out in large areas inside, doing nothing but sleeping or killing time. While I understand and empathize for the reasons they are there, do feel bad that so many spots stay unusable constructively thereby. Further they do create loud nuisance, which is simply ignored by library staff! I mean this kills the functionality aspect of the library and I will hence get a star off for these unmet basics. There is a nasty stench in the hallway, all the time so much so that I hold my breath while passing through- attributed to the same tribe messing in! There are volunteers who occupy the allocated study group section and its encouraging to see kids engaged with them for as long as couple of hours per group! Dedicated kids area with four computers, most of the times you will see kids mindlessly watching some show, as their parents huddle alongside, chatting. The kids section reading aisles are not very well managed compared to crossroads(board book section is always close to empty). I would rank crossroads branch better on their kid's book display and collection. What's better at Redmond are the conference and meeting rooms, that you can book in advance, if you are indulging as a group. Parking is better too, however difficult to get a spot on and off. You will always think twice to use the restroom as its adjacent to the hallway, where all these homeless folks are chatting loudly/passing time. Its just scary and spooky sometimes. Kids restroom is inside though, thanks for that. For what is a library it disturbs me, that its losing its decorum and functionality, finding it difficult to rate it more than 3 stars!

I think the people who work here forgot that your supposed to be quiet in the library. It is very noisy in here.

It's also always warm inside the library which is nice for those looking for a warm place to sit and read or charge a phone. I love the upstairs area where there are more computers and printers and plenty of comfy seating! I always find myself returning to this library or going out of my way to stop by here so I definitely do recommend!

Don't take advantage of it, ya'll, I mean don't take advantage of it in a bad way - we need this to stay; and the parking lot is gigantic. I had no idea the last time I came. This time I delved down below and yikes! It was almost a little scary lol. Gigantic tunnel of parking - and crazily busy all of the sudden as Sunday got later - maybe students crash studying for Monday. Okay enough about the parking. Love the art, both the public and the student art pasted inside. Meeting spaces, event space. The library itself is down the rather cavernous hallway - the library itself feels pretty gigantic; enjoyed browsing the suggested new titles on offer. The used book store appendage outside the main doors was open this time around during my visit. I wish they took more than just cash or check. Could not partake : ( I saw tons of appealing books and also they had puzzles and puzzle books. A great place to spend a couple of hours in Bellevue.

I had a book to return and found the electronic returns slot easy to use with instructions clearly communicated on the screen above the returns slot/conveyer belt. Which door(s) to use on entrance/exit were also clearly marked. Different sections in the library were labeled with signage. In addition to sections for books, DVDs, audio books, and magazines, there were computer work stations, study room(s)/space(s), and tables with chairs open for use. I looked over some of the books in the non-fiction and biographies sections, opting for a biography on John Muir. On my way towards check out, I found some information about the United States of America naturalization process. I thought that was cool. It also got me thinking about how one would go about learning both about the naturalization process and the history to be tested on for a naturalization test if moving internationally. While I did not get something this time, perhaps a book on the naturalization process logistics would be interesting, generally speaking. Still helpful to have informational flyers/pamphlets with some introductory/resource information available/accessible. Self check out and check out with a librarian stations were located closer to the entrance/exit in the standard KCLS computer set up. The desk/counter the self check out computers were located on was in the theme of a large slab of wood for the counter. Overall enjoyed the feel/ambiance of the library as well as the offerings.

This is MY library. I live 3 miles from it. I used to visit this library a lot in person before…read morereading ebooks was possible. Now I try to do all my reading that way and visit less frequently. This was a poorly designed and thought out library, way too small for the community it supports, one with the highest income by zip code per person for any similar sized city in the US. The parking lot is too small, the spaces too tight and the parking garage is horrible. It is dark with huge concrete pillars everywhere and with tiny parking spaces. The concrete posts are scratched and chipped from drivers hitting them with their cars. I had to rescue a driver whose new Volvo was wedged tightly against one of the pillars and she couldn't figure out how to extract herself. The side of the car was completely smashed. The parking lot is frequently full, forcing us to park in an adjacent church parking lot and hike to the library. The entitled patrons who can't be bothered to park in the church parking lot park in the 5 minute short term book drop parking stalls forcing those of us who came solely to return books to hike back and forth from the church simply to drop off our books. I like that they have a copy machine with which your library card offers a few free black and white copies a week. A color copier too that offers fewer. As a note, the Snohomish Library system is WAY more generous with their free copying privileges. They also have a much larger selection of books, and more of them per title. The gas fireplace is nice. I've sat there a few times while reading magazines. The Redmond and Issaquah libraries are far superior to the Sammamish library. They are located too far away for me to use often, but I'm always sad when I visit them and am reminded that MY library is so diminished in comparison.
