I personally will always have a special place in my heart for this library. This library is huge and easily accessible by bus and has plenty of free parking. The staff is always helpful and friendly when I have questions or need help. It's also always warm inside the library which is nice for those looking for a warm place to sit and read or charge a phone. I love the upstairs area where there are more computers and printers and plenty of comfy seating! I always find myself returning to this library or going out of my way to stop by here so I definitely do recommend! read more

I really like Bellevue Library and I'm not gonna lie, the free parking is a HUGE DRAW in a city like Bellevue. Don't take advantage of it, ya'll, I mean don't take advantage of it in a bad way - we need this to stay; and the parking lot is gigantic. I had no idea the last time I came. This time I delved down below and yikes! It was almost a little scary lol. Gigantic tunnel of parking - and crazily busy all of the sudden as Sunday got later - maybe students crash studying for Monday. Okay enough about the parking. Love the art, both the public and the student art pasted inside. Meeting spaces, event space. The library itself is down the rather cavernous hallway - the library itself feels pretty gigantic; enjoyed browsing the suggested new titles on offer. The used book store appendage outside the main doors was open this time around during my visit. I wish they took more than just cash or check. Could not partake : ( I saw tons of appealing books and also they had puzzles and puzzle books. A great place to spend a couple of hours in Bellevue. read more

If you're going to live and/or work on the Eastside you should have some interest in the history of this area. You can start by visiting the Bellevue Library. Check out Emerging Radiance. It's an art piece about PNW history and culture. Best thing about it is it's free to access. The staff member at the info desk was welcoming and enthusiastic when we asked where it was located; it's on the 2nd floor. The art piece will be here until February 2027. Now about the library. It's midsize. It's not as massive as Seattle's Central Library but it's a good size for the Bellevue suburb. We encountered aggressive drivers in the free parking garage (so many yellow student driver stickers) so be aware of your surroundings. read more

I recently came here to study for finals with my friend. We had a table upstairs with access to outlets. The library is spacious with plenty of seating. My only complaint is that at closing time the parking garage locks, so you have 15 minutes from closing to move your car. There is also a 4 hour parking limit to consider during the day as well. I didn't interact with staff, so I can't comment on their helpfulness. I have usually found the King County Librarians to be helpful and kind. read more

REVIEW in COVID times: after a year of being closed, Bellevue library finally has resumed services and opened doors to public. Masks are required. OMG. If you have children you HAVE to check the children renovated area. These guys have done an amazing job. It's on the 3rd floor so you don't have to be totally quiet with your little ones, they have a wonderful study area, In general Bellevue Library is one of my favorite ones from the king county. The architecture is a master piece, my favorite part is the parking lot, in one side you can see a collection of black and white plates, combined with colorful plates; and then you can also fond a vertical garden (specially in spring when it's in full bloom) Staff is super courteous and friendly, always willing to help. The Bellevue Library is a good space for gatherings and community meetings and even for resources. For books, I find the collection to be limited; however, the King County Library System portal allows you to utilize the most of your library membership. Located in downtown Bellevue near a bus stop, it's easy to get to the Bellevue Library. There even is garage parking with two levels, and a few parking spots closest, which are closest to the building are reserved for those just returning books; so you can hop in and out without having to park far away. The library also has an inbox outside of the building where you can return books after hours. Getting a library card was an easy process, as I was directed to use the computer to register myself and once ready, an employee finalized the registration and gave me my library card. These same computers are also for checking out books; I like that you can mostly do everything yourself. This library has two levels, with fiction and media being on the first floor and everything else on the upper level. There are computers located on the second floor for public use, which also allows you to print, make copies and scan for free. The library has a ton of seating throughout its space, but every time I've visited it's mostly been in use. It seems to always be busy here. Outside the library in the same building are meetings rooms, a book shop and the restrooms. Its close proximity to Ashwood Playfield is convenient for reading outside. I live super close to this downtown Bellevue location, so this is my primary library. I like that I can easily walk here and check out what's new; but for books that I want to read, it's nice I can reserve items with the online portal and pick them up from this location. That's the biggest perk for me with the KCLS membership. read more

It's a really nice facility and maintained well. I like the cleanness of the surroundings and the open space. There's also plenty of room to sit, and there's even conference rooms to use to study. That's great for studying with a group. However, I'm docking off a star for my experience in the upstairs bathroom. It makes me sad that there's a place to put needles, but I understand it's because it's a public library. However, that isn't kid friendly. Also, the stalls were super gross upstairs in the bathroom and I didn't enjoy that. Other than that one part, it is maintained well. read more

Disappointing with the space It looks nice based on pictures but when I got there, it was a completely different picture. The rooms for studying was a couple of folding tables and chairs. The computer room was like walking into workforce shop. The hallway was lined with a few groups of people trying to stay out of the cold. It's basically a shelter. I came to Bellevue library on Wednesday afternoon. Parking lots are very tight and busy..... Parking garage is cool designed outside the walls. It's a very clean and wide space of entrance. And another welcome door to go inside the info desk and 1F and 2F. I wanted to use my PC to some work. I looked around desks and tables....There are quite a lot of people. I found that kinda personal desk, each desks separated and look like a office desk. I stayed 2hr & half. It was a very good environment and everybody try to keep quiet. I love going to the Bellevue Library. I've been going here since high school and it's always the best place if I need to be productive and concentrate. There's so much space with three levels of study tables. I've never had a hard time finding a spot to study or work for 2-3 hours. If you need an even more quiet space, you can also book a study room for 2 hours. As a word of advice, I'd suggest calling in one or two days ahead of time to book a room. The library staff here is also very helpful and friendly. I've been to other libraries around King County and the staff at other libraries have been outright rude when I ask even a simple question, but not here. They go above and beyond to not only help me answer my questions, but also provide me with additional recommendations. If you need a place to work on your computer or study for a couple hours in Bellevue, I suggest coming to the Bellevue Library. It's convenient and there's plenty of parking on the ground floor or in the parking garage underneath. And if you need a break, there's two Bubble Tea shops right across the street. read more

The library has a lot to offer. We are able to find books we enjoy. It is also easy to reserve books if they do not have them at that location, or you can see at what library it is available in the King County system. The hours on Friday and Saturday are the one thing I am disappointed by, six seems too early to close. The staff is helpful and the facility is nice. read more

Bellevue Regional Library is by far the largest library that I have visited on the Eastside. This is a functional type library, not one of those architectural masterpieces like the Seattle Central Library is. This is a three level building with plenty of space. I work at the Bravern and felt like working a few hours in a different environment so I headed down the block to the library. I really like this library because it has plenty of resources available. Conference rooms, computers, books and plenty of seating places to get your stuff done. I did not park in the parking lot in back so I can not comment on the complaints regarding this. Though it seems like this side of NE 8th is more deserted as it is farther from the downtown Bellevue core. If you don't want to drive, I believe there is a bus stop in front. It is not too far from the Bellevue Transit Center either. Just two blocks. I like this library because it is so large that it seems easier to find a nook here. Away from crowds to concentrate on what you need to get accomplished in a relatively calmer place. read more

I was looking for a specific reference book so I came here to check it out. Its probably one of the nicer libraries around. Good amount of parking with a parking garage, on the edge of downtown Bellevue so its nice its not near Lincoln Square area. Nice designs & decor all around, quiet library, people actually read and study here and not loiter and sit around talking, clean restrooms that are outside of the main library area so you dont hear the flushing, a good amount of conference rooms, computers etc. Staff was helpful that will actually help you find the book you are looking for versus just pointing you to the general area to go to. Excellent presentation. Many records repositories have rules and regulations and it's always great to learn from people who are "in the know" about how to best proceed before visiting. The group meets the second Thursday of every month (except in the Summer months) where topics are discussed and information is shared. Annual membership is a mere $20. Just a hop, skip, and a jump straight to hell I don't go into cities much, so I was betting they couldn't tell if I was in their parking garage for more than the allowed 4 hours. I was writing novels, emailing Bill Gates clean nuclear power schematics, and learning 5 langues on the second floor of the library for 6 hours. Then I got a $76 ticket. Next. I've never begged on all fours before but that happened. Then, that ticket made me seriously wonder if the big bang was worth it for humanity if this is what happens. Finally, Looking pathetic is my default state, but I set records that day. I was supposed to lose that money in the stonk market, not by getting mugged by a library Also, their wifi is 0.3 MB / sec. I can think of 6 other libraries I've been to in the last year and none are even close to that bad. You can't do anything with that speed. You would have to be on their drug addict contaminated computers, or blast through your phones' data to get anything done. I moved spots 3 times on the second floor and the wifi measured to 0.3 mb / sec each time. However, trip advisor and yelp are the lifeblood of the library industry, so now that you're reading this review... They'll be bankrupted within the month, so I just won't pay the ticket read more

The moment I first entered the library, I was impressed: the layout is inviting and spacious, there's natural lighting everywhere, and the people inside seemed quiet and respectful of others. I was even more pleasantly surprised by the welcoming and patient staff members. As it was my first time here, I inquired about getting a membership card. I spoke to two employees, both of whom where kind and showed a very positive attitude -- something we should not take for granted. The first employee helped me sign up on the computer and directed me to the counter to pick up my card. The second employee at the counter gave me my card within a couple of minutes and informed me of the library's policies. Also, I was shocked to find out that you can borrow up to 100 items. All in all, this is a great library with quality staff. I highly recommend it. read more

I am very pleased with the Bellevue Library. Before the pandemic, I loved to come here and read all the most recent magazines (which you cannot check out). There are TONS of places to sit, some more quiet and cozy than others. This is a very well used library, so even if it looks crowded, if you check each floor (often in the corners), you can find somewhere to sit. During the pandemic, the library has been closed but offering pick-ups of both books on hold and surprise bags (they choose the books, you pick the area or genre of interest). You can walk up and request your holds (which can take up to 15 minutes to process), or you can make an appointment with 3 hours notice, depending on when they are open. I love this system! My books are always ready when I arrive and I am in & out in no time. I live closer to the Crossroads Mall location but as that is closed, I'm glad I can still access the King County library system. read more

Great library. TONS of seating and seating variety (comfortable chairs, tables, desks with dividers and office chairs, etc). Wifi works well enough and there is a dedicated quiet area (which was indeed quiet while I was there). I did hear some sounds when I was at one of the normal tables (non-quiet area) but did not have any issues with loud kids or people talking that I've had in many other libraries! Though sometimes loud kids are only a problem when school gets out in the afternoon. Really happy I came to and know about this library now. Will definitely be bringing my laptop back to get stuff done! PS- Not sure about the selection of books though they definitely have way more shelves than any small library. PPS- They have a maker space here with equipment like 3d printer, laser cutter, turntable, etc. SUPER COOL for a library!!! read more

This is honestly not a good library and I'm surprised by the positive feedback this place gets. The "quiet areas" are located directly between the children's floor and the noisy front entrance/lobby so everything is just too loud. Also, I never understood why so many public libraries prohibited people from eating food but I now understand after coming here. It's so incredibly annoying and noisy. There's simply no enforcement of any library policy so people are talking on their cell phones and eating food all over the place. Temper all of this with the occasional screaming child. The open floor plan and lack of private cubbies/cubicles doesn't help either. The free parking is nice and the WiFi is good. P.S. I know this review sounds a little aggressive and pedantic but once you've actually been to some good libraries you'll realize that I'm right on this. This is probably good for getting books from but not for studying. read more

It's very quiet in here and that's exactly what I expect from a library setting. I will admit I have not stepped foot in a library for a number of years but I'm blown away by the "modern" look this library has. I love the Bellevue Library! There is ample parking in it's garage. You can drop books off outside through machines anytime, which is nice. They can even print a receipt for you, so you have a record of dropping them off. Inside is fairly huge. There are tons of books, audio, DVDs and more. I've walked all around the library and have always found something to check-out. On the outside of the main library room there are other rooms where people have meetings/classes (with schedules on the outside of the rooms). All in all a great library! My only complaint about this top notch library is the BATHROOM STALLS. If you're over five feet tall you can peer directly down onto the person the next one down as they sit on the toilet. Damn it. Like any urban library you will have your smelly people walking around, talking to themselves, and being disruptive while they loudly watch their YouTube videos on the 2hr computers. Nothing but love though, I get it :) also, the staff is accommodating, proactive, and professional. I've seen them deescalate multiple altercations between people before. Like I said, the crowd tends to be quite eclectic. It can get pretty packed during weekends and in the evening. I do like that there are lots of tucked away study areas where you can find a little bit of peace and quiet though. This is one of my favorite libraries all in all. It's big. It's clean. It's got plenty of parking. It's got a warm atmosphere, inviting to all. Yes! read more

My favorite library out of all the libraries in the Puget Sound area. 3 floors of books, internet, dvd's, cd's, and more. Comfy seats makes you want to stay and read for hours on end. Friendly and helpful staff. Free printing up to a certain amount (I think like 66 pages per week). And now that the gigantic parking garage is open, parking is not a problem anymore! I also really like the skylights upstairs and all the windows downstairs. It's a very bright and uplifting library. read more

Bellevue Library at its core is the neighbourhood library for Downtown Bellevue. It's got a tight-knit community feel, with ample space for gatherings and a safe environment for children to open their minds. The IdeaX space thanks to a Google donation is an amazing place to create with technology - laser cutters, 3D printers, music studio and more. I even attended a class led by a Grammy-nominated recording artist. Its new renovations have that new carpet smell and makes the space feel fresh yet familiar. This library has so much potential but it's a pretty crappy place to go these days. As others have said, the noise!! It's not a social house or a community center. It's a library. If you want to have kids running, people eating, loud conversations, call yourself let something else. It's become the down town homeless shelter by day and night. There are people who live in their cars in the "4hour limit, no walkoff" garage as well as in the adjacent 3 hour lot. I've seen men masterbating on the Benches, a woman giving a man oral sex, open weed smoking repeatedly by the same people in the open, open container drinking groups as well as people just sleeping on the walk ways. It does have great online book access thankfully so I use that exclusively. Libraries just aren't for learning or reading enjoyment anymore. And this beautiful library is no exception. read more

Of all the public libraries I've been, this is perhaps the best library I've been to. Often I got confused with Beverly Hills Library (maybe both starts with the letter "B") Pros: 1. Ample complimentary covered parking (if you want to stay longer than 4 hours, simply registered your car) ~ ask a librarian where to register. 2. Each computer station has a charging station, unlike other KCLS (King County Library Systems) as this is essential for a digital nomad, 3. Complimentary wifi and research and online audiobooks / music (Freegal, my fav.) ~ ask a reference librarian for assistance if you are a resident of King County. 4. Being a larger library in the KCLS, the hours are longer, especially on Sundays (till 8pm). 5. Complimentary study rooms, meeting rooms as long as it's used for public purposes. 6. Education meeting, lectures, events (check out KCLS.org for hours, events, classes, calendar.) Cons: 1. As this is a public facilities, it's an ideal "shelter" for homeless folks. They are always welcome. Librarians do not have to rights to discriminate and ask them to leave as in private businesses. Sometimes the human stents and odor can be overbearing. This is a city's issue in dealing with homelessness - talk to your city's representatives. I remember while I was in Beverly Hills Library in the early 90s, I saw human poop beside a men's room toilet (TMI) and reported to a librarian. I felt sorry for the one who has to clean up that mess. Damn! this burn into my memory for life. I hope I don't have to see this in Bellevue Library or any libraries. 2. Kids' noise. Most of us go to the library to enjoy peace and quietness. No offense to parents who may have this parental issue. Sometimes this is unavoidable in most public areas, but as parents, it's our responsibilities to attend to the needs of your little ones and may be bring them to a more private area of the library, if available. Wow. This was so good. I'm here on vacation and I had some time to kill this one day and I thought why not visit the library. A short bus ride brought me directly in front of it. (was surprised to see a statue of the mahatma) I was blown away by how good the selection of books is! It has wide open spaces and is superbly lit. Wifi is the only complaint. It's very slow. But i will still give this library 5 stars. My heart is won. :) read more
