Whenever I need help finding something the staff is Incredibly helpful which is much appreciated. The Bothell Library was cool in temperature when I arrived around 12:15 p.m. this midday, Tuesday 15 August 2023. Inside the entrance, on a wall of the entryway, was a water fountain equipped both for drinking and filling water bottle(s). The sections of the library were well labeled and the interior had an overall spacious feel. Parking out front of the library was abundant. Looking through the DVD section, I found a few titles I was interested in watching and decided to check them out. A worker at the regular check out was busy with another patron, so I decided to go with self check out. The computer and barcode scanner were straightforward to use. Below the keys on the keyboard was a sticker with a 2023 calendar, which was helpful for finding the day of the week corresponding to the due date(s) for the items I checked out. read more

When we first moved here we went down to get library cards. As an avid reader it was a must. The staff were really nice, the building was clean and really open, and also had a huge selection. I'll admit I didn't explore much because I don't read a lot of physical books. I mostly use hoopla and Libby apps with my library cards and take advantage of the audiobooks and kindle options. I will say I've used a lot of libraries all over the country and this one has one of the best selections I've seen for their online catalog. read more

I love this library! One of the largest libraries around with a high quality collection of books. It's always well organized and very clean. Multiple checkout stations, but just one check-in station. There's a Amazon esque book pick-up option too. Loved the children's area here. They have variety of fiction & non-fiction for all ages and play area. Kids love this. They spent an hour here reading books and playing. Loved the non-fiction section for adults here - plenty to explore and learn. There are many computer stations you can use here, though I hardly use them. Staffs are amazing and very helpful. They are keen on addressing any concerns and absolutely make sure it's resolved in the best possible way. Plenty of parking for the patrons. Never had any trouble finding one even on a busy day. Only one thing I would like to improve here - add some baskets for picking up books. It's handy when you pick up more than 25-30 books at a time. read more

This is a nice big library with a big collection of materials, plenty of space to study, and a good number of computer work stations. They have 2 small private study rooms, and it seems like those are popular enough that people need to reserve ahead of time. The best part: KCLS has no option to pay for printing, but they let you print 75 pages a WEEK for free. I was SO thankful when I realized that because I still have an account from my "living with my family" days and was able to print off some readings for class. I would have spent almost $10 if I was to print those things on the UW campus!!! Soooo thankful. A good part: The children's section is a good-sized corner of the library and is well "sectioned off" by stacks of books. When I was there, I barely saw and barely heard kids. I was trying to work on schoolwork, so this made me VERY happy. The worst part: This library seems like a very popular spot for local high school students to study, and while some of them are fine.... well, some of them are a bit more chatty than I like people to be when I'm trying to focus. Overall, though, I am rather fond of this library. read more

Drop off, pick up. This location is fairly close to my workplace so I often come by to drop off some items to avoid the dreaded 10 cent per day fine. It's an older, single story building which can be a bit difficult to access. It's now tucked away behind a big apartment building and there is ongoing construction which makes access to the parking lot a little difficult for the time being. Hopefully the construction will end up making it a little easier to get in and out. It's a nice little library with a few comfortable reading (napping) chairs that always seem to be full when i visit. read more

The Bothell Library was my go-to library until they closed for remodeling. For a while, I had to go to the Kenmore Library, which is less convenient, smaller and has limited parking. I'm very happy to see my neighborhood Bothell Library open again for business! Although it seemed to have taken a while to complete, they did a great job on the renovation! Library is appealing on many levels and looks shiny new. There is a large parking lot which allows more patrons to utilize this location. I particularly enjoy that Bothell has two outside self check in book drops with 5 minute parking right in front. Super convenient. There is also another book self drop inside in the lobby. This previous visit, I had a book hold transferred over to the Bothell location specifically so I could peek inside and see the renovations. A Welcome Information desk is located right as you walk in and was staffed by two librarians. The Check Out was to the right which was also staffed and self check out had many scanners available to get in and out conveniently. I was greeted by friendly faces and offered endless help. I picked up my "hold book" and checked out seamlessly. The Children's section looked inviting and had quite a bit of titles and a specific reading nook area set aside for story time. A nice perk for parents to select books and not have children running about. I'm happy to see the Bothell Library open once again. With all of the renovations happening in downtown Bothell, the Library will also have its own fresh coat of paint. read more

The staff is helpful and the building is clean and appears well-organized. Parking is usually more than adequate. However, the noise level is too high. Staff members and patrons speaking in normal and elevated volumes, lots of children allowed to say/do whatever they want and often very noisy (shouting, crying), patrons on their phones forcing everyone to hear their conversations, etc. For example, staff standing at the information desk in the middle of the building near the entrance greet the patrons loudly and have loud conversations and give directions which can be heard throughout the building. I understand the desire to be helpful and appear enthusiastic about doing so but please bear in mind that there are patrons trying to read and concentrate. This is a public place and some noise is to be expected. However, it would be great if the staff set an example and spoke quietly and if the Children's section had a wall between it and the main part of the library. There's just no place to get away from the noise here. Impossible to study or read in peace. It's a mixture of building layout and policy. read more

Nice small library with an Amazon like kiosk outside the library to pick up books afterhours?

The reading programs for kids here are excellent, and the staff picks and new-book displays are also really good. But the librarians don't shush people in this library, and as a result, it's more like a Barnes & Noble (which are too LOUD) than a proper library (which should be a quiet place to read and think). I've taken away a star because of the non-hushed ambiance. Otherwise, it's the standard well-thought-out King County Library of the newer type -- think high ceilings, lots of light, modern architecture. I wish they were open more hours. read more

I better get busy and start reviewing this establishment, since I worked here in the early 90s as part of technical education in shop class. Boy is this ever going to date me. The current building is the second Bothell Library, and the old one I'm almost sure had been built privately as a church, but acquired by the county in a land bid way back before the present expansion and revitalization. It was an old octagonal structure that became the city planning office and was destroyed during the stimulus building, there are some apartments there now. I started working in this building during high school, which was an easy job. It got me anywhere, I later interned for a fun summer in Washington DC, which is interesting, if you look at your job relationally on a union scale, what was it? Because I certainly spent more to go intern then I made as one. But it "worked out", it was new government clerk work, and it posted well enough on my resume after graduation to go to the Seattle Times print shop, which was another new place locally that used to be over in Technology Corridor. This is going to be a long history. read more

Finding a good library has been a tough journey for me. Kenmore's is nice but too small, Woodinville's is in the middle of nowhere, Mill Creek's is even smaller than Kenmore's, and Lynnwood's one is just plain gross. The Bothell one easily bests the others. This library has a lot of books and magazines. There are an abundance of study tables and outlets. And they even have those egg-shaped pods where you can sit in (I'll take a picture next time). The amenities are clean enough (bathroom not so much) and it's got enough computers where I've never had to wait for one. Two things I don't like about this library, however, is wall between the study rooms is super thin and there's just not enough parking spaces. One thing I really like about this library is that you can print out 75 units per week. 1 page of black and white is 1 unit and 1 page of colored print outs is 3 units. Also, you can borrow a laptop from the front desk. Pretty neat stuff, yo! read more

This is the cutest library ever! I live a few minutes away so I walk here pretty often to drop off and check out books. I love their hours - they're open until 9 throughout the week and 7 on Sunday's, which is great since some other libraries close at 5. It's not the biggest library, but it's good medium size with a decent selection of popular books. I wish they offered better programming for adults though, which is why I took off one star. The Woodinville library offers adult book clubs and drawing programs, but the Bothell library doesn't have anything except basic computer help classes. Tons of cool stuff for the kiddos, but we want fun classes too! read more

I got snickers and laughs from the libarians here. Years ago I went to the King County library in Fairwood in Renton and had a late fee. It was about 8 years ago, and didn't find out that I had a fee until a few weeks before I went to this library. I cleaned out my purse and found the King County library card which was odd because I now live in Seattle and frequent the SPL. I went online to King County Library system and found I had a late fee. Being a good humanitarian, I thought I'd pay it. I go in to pay my 3 bucks and change to the King County Library in Bothell. They say, "I can't find when you checked out the book that was late." I explain that the fine is 8 years old and felt like paying everything up. Haven't you seen that Seinfeld episode where they came after him for a late fee that was 20-30 years old?? She tells her co-worker that I am paying a late fee that is 8 years old. They have a good laugh at my expense, take my money and go. Ha. read more

I love this library! Its outside look will deceive you. Once you step inside, it's very bright and clean. I especially like their kids zone. They have enough computers for the little ones to play with (with a lot of educational software available just a click away!). My two kids love to go to this library. There are usually one or two computer that are something wrong with.... So, not everything is perfect. But to me, it's a minor detail. The selection of books that King county library system offers is great. Not just English books but the selection of foreign language books is vast. I strongly recommend King county library system and this Bothell branch! read more

This is one of the area's best libraries. It has plenty of books, enough computers to serve everyone and plenty of classes and events. The staff is friendly and does not shush you, or glare at you if you talk. It says nice and quiet, I have yet to hear a screaming kid. I like that they have wifi as well as other fun things for teens. Usually educational services skip over the teen age group and give us nothing good. I even see kids playing their Nintendo DS's on the wifi connection as well as getting some books. There is a read 3 books, get one free for ages 12-18 where teens can get a good book. Not just a cheapo book or a kiddy book either, a popular series most of the time too. read more

Which is great for when you're studying all day long and need a break. You can listen to audiobooks on libby. And you can print 75 items for free a week. OK, found something not to love: DVD collection in the Spanish language mostly deserves an R rating, and you can't tell what you're getting into from the covers. They're not rated, no warnings of any kind. Wrote to the library board about that, and they ignored me. Shame on you, families come and select movies for their kids there. read more

I really want to give this Library a good review as I like the building layout and they have a great selection of many various books, movies, magazines, and music. However I have had not so good experiences with the ladies who work the checkout and information desk here. I was trying to use my mothers card as my card got too many fines than I could afford for a while and I had a really troublesome time convincing the ladies that the card was actually my mothers. I can understand people who steal library cards and then use them to check out books and movies and steal them. But you would like to have people trust you and give you the benefit of the doubt, especially when you show them your I.D. that has the same last name of your mothers card. It's really kind of sad how they treated me here the last couple times I tried to use my mothers card. I almost got into a heated verbal altercation with the ladies because it was important that I checked out the books as I needed to do so for an essay I was writing for a class. But they wouldn't let me. It's all about money clearly, even though I returned the books that were overdue, I still have a large outstanding fine. I think it's really silly to keep people from checking out with a large fine. But those are the rules I guess. I just felt the librarians were rude to me unwarranted and for that I can't give them a good review. They did not treat me like a good citizen and civilian, rather like I had broken the laws and wasn't allowed to participate in their library. This is a great library for checking out diverse books and films, but the librarians here need to up their customer service and humanity game. At the Kenmore library, I can use my mothers card without even showing them my I.D. At the very least, they could have been much more courteous, apologetic, and empathetic. And also really could have checked out my mom's account better. On her account, it states clearly that I, her son can use her card anytime. At the Kenmore library they told me this was written on her account. But for some reason the ladies at the Bothell Library didn't see that. Inexplicable. read more

It's a pretty decent public library that's well maintained and clean. It stays pretty busy around the clock. Theres plenty of parking spots available even when busy. I just find it to be too small and seems pretty noisy for a library. There's very few areas that you can get real quiet like a study room. read more

When the Kirkland library closed for it's super remodeling, I needed a new library to go to. I already spend a lot of time in Bothell as it is, and I've loved this library ever since I walked into it! Close by, lots of computers, bunch of events, great selection of books, music and DVDs, it's small and comfortable and the staff are always polite and helpful. read more

I had an obscure research question and couldn't find the answer on the web. They kept searching until they found what I needed. Recently started going here, they have a pretty good selection of books. I haven't been to a library in years because I usually just buy books off amazon but it was great to start going back! The library itself is super clean and easy to navigate through. There are a bunch of sitting areas. Not sure about the other amenities, but as a mother taking a younger child here, this library is great! There's a very nice kids area with computer games for the kiddos that are both fun and educational. The books in the kids section are well kept and bountiful. The kids (also adults) dvd's are also well taken care of and offer a good selection. The librarians I've spoken to, and especially in the kids area, are so helpful and full of information! Everybody we've encountered here, patrons and librarians alike, have been the greatest people. Also if you're lucky like I was one evening before closing a while ago...you get to hear a gentleman sing a "goodbye, we're closing" song over the intercom in the most angelic voice you've ever heard! You people are very lucky. My neighborhood library is the Kingsgate Library and we had our library closed for 1 1/2 years. We lost half of our books when it re-opened. We lost our fabulous set of world atlases. I heard your library only closed down for 7 weeks. Your collection of books didn't get gutted. I am aware that if we didn't vote for library funding that we would get our hours cut and the books reduced. I am aware of that. But if you were only closed for 7 weeks, no way we should have been closed down for 1 1/2 years. It's got to be the same amount of closure time for all libraries. read more

Disclaimer: I volunteer at this library so my review may be shining the light of bias. Here's the deal: The staff at this branch are all simply GREAT! They are never too busy to drop what they're doing to help you or answer your question. They keep their collection in top-notch condition and this is saying a lot because this library is very busy. Some reviewers talked about the noise level and I agree, some patrons rudely flout the convention that it's polite to go about your time there as quietly as possible. I have observed staff politely asking offenders to tone it down. The operative word here is 'politely'. The Bothell library staff works very hard to maintain a friendly atmosphere and a first-rate collection of materials. read more

Well, this is the library I visit most often. It could use some updating. But they've got a good amount of computers, a good selection of DVD's and CD's and of course plenty of books to choose from. I live in Snohomish County but only use KCLS or Seattle Public Libraries. I go to the Bothell Library AT LEAST twice a week. It's only a 20 minute drive. My favorite KCLS library is Bellevue. Cuz it has 3 floors. But Bothell is probably like my 5th fav. The only reason I go to Bothell is cuz they're open on Sunday's unlike most. Only "large" ones are open Sundays with a few exceptions I'm sure. read more

Rude and Prejudiced staff When I saw the staff at checkout desk refuse books to a gentleman who had forgotten his account number and was rudely driven out, I figured the staff was indeed rude and prejudiced. While watching this happen in front of me, the gal behind me in the line mentioned that she was once refused books even after providing the account number to library staff. She was refused because she did not want to provide the birth date of her husband in order to pick up books in his account that was linked to hers. When it was my turn at the checkout desk I did ask the staff about her treatment of the gentleman before me. I was asked to speak to a person at the help desk if I wanted my question answered, Made me think this was the culture at Bothell library and made a note in my head to never again visit the Bothell library but instead go to another library in vicinity. This branch of the otherwise well run King County Library needs management supervision and operating policies that are standardized. read more
