Coming to Kenmore Library today, Monday 23 October 2023, looking for a book to read, I pulled in…read moreoff of Northeast 181st Street to find a packed parking strip on the side of the building. I was like, oh no... where am I supposed to park. Continuing forwards in my vehicle I noticed a slanted drive down under the library building on the left. Then I noticed a sign with an arrow indicating parking. So, I followed the drive in and parked in the garage under the building. An elevator was available to take one up to/down from the library entryway. I took it on the way up, and during my one floor elevator ride remembered I did not like elevators, so I might walk around like I drove into the garage when I went back to my car. Getting off the elevator in the entryway with doors on each side of me, one to the street and one into the library, I entered the library through the door(s) going that way. The interior of the library initially felt small and a librarian was at their station by the entry/exit. Other librarian(s) were about in the library around the shelves. A number of people were sitting on chairs/couches in the library reading books. The chairs/couches were well placed throughout the library as were tables. Each section, such as teen, non-fiction, magazines, etc., was well labeled. Study rooms were open/available for use if wanting a quiet place to close the door and work on something. I was specifically looking for something in the tune of business. The different non-fiction categories were diverse in offerings. I ended up going with a book about putting ideas into action. Different libraries in the King County Library System tend to have different business offerings, and I found the marketing/thought process focus at this library refreshing. Self check out stations were located near the entrance/exit by the librarians' stations. The librarians I interacted with were warm in demeanor. On my way out, I opted to walk back to my car instead of taking the elevator. I found there was even a sidewalk down to the garage. All around I enjoyed my experience.

The Kenmore Library is a newly built public library in the King County system. Small facility, yet…read morevery modern with natural light and clean lines. Small footprint, but close to USPS and City Hall. Parking is not plentiful and it seems as tho the 5 minute "book drop off" spaces are always full. Kenmore is more of a satellite location, than a full size public library. I reluctantly used this library for a while when the Bothell Library was being remodeled. Staff has always been nice in Kenmore, but it lacks the size and amenities of Bothell. It was easy to place books on hold online to pick up and check out at the self-service kiosks. But if you want full service, Kenmore is not your library.

My kids and I had an absolutely awful experience at this store today with one of the employees!! My…read morekids and I were looking through the children's books when a female employee DEMANDED that we move to a different section of the store so she could take inventory behind us. Not even of the books we were looking at. She literally said, "I need in this section so you're going to need to move to a different area." She had the most awful and rude tone. She was extremely rude in how she asked and then proceeded to literally argue with me in the store because I tried to explain that those were the books we came to the store to look at. I have never had an experience with an employee like that literally anywhere in my entire life!! That woman should not be interacting with customers in any way shape or form. I didn't say anything to another employee and we just left because it was so upsetting. But I probably should have because if I was the owner or manager of the store, I would want to if is one of my employees was speaking to my customers that way.

I stopped by Mountlake Terrace Library today, Friday 20 March 2026, to look for a world history…read morebook. The building was clearly marked on the exterior of the building itself and signage along the street indicated its location for pedestrians/vehicles. The main entrance/exit was straightforward to find and navigate. Tabled work areas were located throughout the library and were busy/full away from the main entrance/central area. The non-fiction area was clearly labeled as was its shelving by topic. There was breadth and depth in offerings for the topic I was searching for. I opted for a book with a Middle East region focus and made my way to check out. The check out kiosk operated in a manner consistent with procedures I have encountered at other Sno-Isle Libraries. I was happy with my experience.

The kids are is neat and clean, with a good selection of books and activities, plus special programs throughout the month. Street parking and underground parking are available.

The space itself, the building and the sleek, thoughtful, modernity of the interior (with plenty of…read moreseating!) is wonderful! There are toys and drawers full of more, a plethora of books, even Peak Picks that are readily available. A parking garage with outdoor access can be found off of 28th, but one is still subject to the weather when entering and exiting the actual library building. Staff seem very averse to having children present, despite the wonderfully set up children's area, at the far wall of the library. The smallest peep heard, or a baby's whimper and they rush over to remind the parents that it's a library and we must be quiet. It's a lovely space, but feels quiet and quiet and unwelcoming due to the ultra-sensitive staff.

A (voluntary) donation to this fantastic community (of mostly volunteers) is absolutely worth every cent. Such friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff just add to the pleasure. The next time you're considering buying tools or equipment (that you'll probably use a handful of times and store in the shed) consider borrowing the tools you need from the NE Seattle Tool Library instead.
