Such a cute library. It has a nice university library feel to it with a kid-ish charm. Inside it…read morelooks newer, clean, spacious, and there are plenty of different areas to study and read like the comfy chairs at the end by the fireplace or within the book cases. So peaceful. I was immediately greeted by the folks at the middle desk and as I studied I could hear them kindly checking in on others and helping out. They're friendly here, I definitely loved the vibe. I chose a large table in the fiction section where there was a magical looking Hobbit painting and giant windows on the sides. Even on a cloudy day these windows provide a lot of natural light and it's a motivating spot to sit and get work done. You can even sit at the window sill and really enjoy the light. I was happy to find my table had an outlet on the desk for convenience but there are also outlets laid out everywhere. A huge plus! The computer areas are also scattered throughout instead of it being a large area where you have to sit with everyone and I thought that was pretty cool. Another plus for the study room fully equipped! However, online it says they're currently not available but I'm looking forward to it opening back up!

These robots can't wait to spin the party line (Inslee idiot tribe) about how your mask MUST BE ON AT ALL TIMES when you are in the library. And how it MUST FIRMLY COVER THE MOUTH AND NOSE AT.ALL.TIMES!!!!! Just following orders... Oh, and a STRICT THIRTY MJNUTE STAY. NO LONGER!!! Lest covid finds you in the mystery thriller aisle. Could we possibly return for 20 minutes later in the afternoon? ABSOLUTELY NOT! STUPID. OFFENSIVELY IDIOTIC. How about we DEFUND LIBRARY GESTAPO? At least library administrators. The Comrade giving The Doctrine at the door turned out to be the library supervisor.

It's a dynamic public space, open 10am-6pm every day (and until 8pm Tuesdays-to-Thursdays). There's a community bulletin board, art to appreciate, board games to borrow (to play there, not takeaway), an auditorium, computers to browse the web, plenty of power outlets, DVDs to rent, and a cute gift shop ($1 book deals!). Plenty of seating, free Wi-Fi, restrooms. There's a filtered water dispenser (bring a water bottle!). To my surprise, there's a cafe ("Howdy Y'all Coffee", open all week except Sundays) on-site. Oh, there are books too. Recommendation: Visit the 10th floor! It has a huge naturally-lit reading room. A serene oasis in downtown Seattle.
