Peter has done several projects for my family over the past several years. He finished our…read morebasement at our townhouse and current house. He rebuilt our deck at both houses as well. He also managed a significant backyard project including the deck and putting in a screened in pergola in coordination with Boston Pergolas. He did some significant site work to be able to do a 30'x50' stone patio on a very sloped backyard. That project also include electrical installation for a future shed, installation of a generator, site prep for the shed (which I will have him do as well), coordination for connection to our underground propane tank. Pete also recently redid our master bath shower after a water leak issue and we absolutely love the new design. Sarah was great to work with selecting our design options. Peter and his team are detail oriented and the communication is great. No project goes without issues especially with labor and supply chain conditions, but Peter is excellent about communicating these and working towards solutions. Peter Playdon Construction is on speed dial in our house and we feel very fortunate to have found him to help us as we are not very handy around the house!

We had a bathroom gutted to the studs and redone by Peter Playdon Construction. We had picked out all the tile, tub, vanity, faucets, etc prior to the job, and paid for those separately. My family member works for Lowes and suggested we have Peter do the job. It was a disaster from the get go. We went without a working toilet in the house for 19 days. 19 days, and it is the ONLY bathroom in the house. They in no way cared, nor did they move along quickly. We paid almost $18,000 for the bathroom remodel. Come to today and find out that they used old parts in the shower, so now we have to rip out a wall to replace a mixer valve. We called him two days after completion of the project to tell him that the toilet they had just installed was leaking into the basement and was rocking. He was annoyed that he had to send someone back, but finally agreed. They shimmed the toilet with a penny and called it a day. We have since had it fixed by a real plumber, who was horrified at the shoddy workmanship of Playdon Construction. He had one guy working for him who was okay, but the rest were foul mouthed jerks with our teenage daughter in the house. Peter couldn't coordinate any of his subs. It was a horrible, horrible experience. I would NEVER recommend him for any job, ever.

They were amazing and I am so happy with the work. My family room is beautiful! They did what we wanted at a price better than quoted by competitors, they've been super responsive when we had questions and patient when we took some time to figure things out or when life was so busy we didn't see emails from them. The installers were on time and completed the work in one day instead of two and on top of that they were incredibly kind to my dog. He loved them!

We hired Jim Longden in 2023 to install flooring in our dining room, kitchen, and downstairs…read morebathroom. He also installed a vanity, sink, and toilet for us. He claimed he was capable of doing that work and we hired him in good faith. He made some egregious errors which caused flooding and water damage that was discovered in 2024. Uber our toilet the blocking was gone and the hole under our toilet was too big. He also never sealed the toilet in the floor so you could just wiggle it around in the bathroom floor! A professional contractor would never make these mistakes. Water leaked underneath our bathroom, kitchen, and dining room floors and they all had to be torn out. We had to pay for the repairs out of our own pocket so we are currently $30,000 in debt. We are still fighting with his insurance to pay for this! DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN.

I hired Jim to install new countertops, which he did a good job at, from the previous contractor…read more He also installed my new sink and tiles for a backsplash. Bad points about the job, he left shims sticking out from the countertops, which caused a space between the countertops and cabinets. I already bought thin cove molding to fill in that space once the shims were cut off. He kept telling me he would take care of it but never did. I oginally wanted small 4" X 4" tiles to be used as a backslash, but he talked me into getting bigger tiles. I don't what kind of caulking product he used but the tiles are now separating from the countertop, now I'm going have to hire someone to recaulk them. I was going to hire him for another job for painting a bedroom and to put flooring in a closet. He was telling me , I should buy new baseboards, my wood baseboards are in good condition but just needed a paint job. I wanted vinyl sheeting in a small closet off the bedroom because there is a water heater in that closet, which had carpet and was pulled up because of a water leak from the water heater. He told me he wouldn't put vinyl sheet flooring in that closet. He told me to buy vinyl plank which I did which was not cost effective for a small closet. When I told him I was buying my carpet from Home depot or Lowes, he told me so you are going to trust them to lay the carpet. He told me he could bring some carpet samples for me to look at which will be cheaper then Lowes or Home depot and that he would put the carpet in. He never bought me any carpet samples to look at. He tries to manipulate you into buying things that is not necessary and costs effective. New baseboards went back to the store and so did the vinyl plank that I bought. Bedroom and baseboards now painted, vinyl sheet used for the flooring in the small closet, new door built to my water heater closet and carpet installed by Lowes.
