We completed a full kitchen remodel using IKEA Axstad White Shaker cabinets, and hiring Ivan was…read moreone of the best decisions we made throughout the entire project. From the very beginning, Ivan was communicative, dependable, punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable. He showed up when he said he would, stayed on schedule, and completed the project exactly when promised. What impressed us most wasn't just his installation skills, but his ability to think creatively and help us improve our original design. Throughout the project, Ivan patiently listened to our ideas and offered thoughtful suggestions that made the kitchen significantly better than we had imagined. He never pressured us, but instead helped us see opportunities to maximize both function and beauty. One of the most challenging areas of our kitchen is a curved wall located behind the staircase. Rather than simply working around it, Ivan embraced the challenge and created solutions that gave the space a true custom-built feel. He carefully modified one of the cabinets to accommodate the curve and suggested replacing what would have been standard upper cabinets with beautiful open wood shelving, allowing the architectural details of the curved wall and ceiling beam to become design features instead of something hidden away. Looking back, this ended up being one of our favorite elements of the entire kitchen. He also suggested adding glass-front upper cabinets to display our dishes. Originally, we were planning on traditional solid white cabinet doors throughout, but his recommendation added warmth, character, and visual interest to the space. We are so glad we trusted his expertise. Ivan also helped us create practical custom touches that would have cost much more through a traditional custom cabinet shop. For example, he designed a pull-out broom and mop storage cabinet next to our refrigerator, making use of otherwise wasted space. He installed lighting inside every kitchen drawer, giving the kitchen a high-end luxury feel. Our pantry area, located beneath the large picture window, appears to have two large drawers from the outside, but inside he installed additional pull-out inner drawers that dramatically increased storage and organization. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail was exceptional. We had what felt like hundreds of cabinets, drawers, accessories, and IKEA components, yet Ivan handled every detail flawlessly. Anyone who has worked with IKEA products knows they can be surprisingly intricate, and having someone with Ivan's experience made all the difference. Beyond his technical expertise, Ivan was simply a pleasure to work with. He was patient, professional, fair in his pricing, and genuinely invested in helping us achieve the best possible result. He treated our kitchen as if it were his own project. The end result is a kitchen that looks and functions like a custom-designed space, but without the custom cabinet price tag. If you are considering IKEA kitchen cabinets, IKEA storage systems, or any IKEA furniture installation, do yourself a favor and call Ivan. His expertise, creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail are truly unmatched. We could not be happier with our new kitchen, and we're incredibly grateful for everything Ivan did to help turn our vision into reality. Highly recommend!

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience with So Cal Woodwork, especially because I had…read moresuch a positive experience with them in the past. I originally hired James about 8 years ago when we first purchased our builder-grade home. He extended our kitchen cabinets, added crown molding, and completed additional wood trim and detail work. They did an amazing job, and James was wonderful to work with. Because of that experience, when we recently had a horrible leak that required us to replace our entire kitchen island, pantry, and flooring, along with a few upgrades I had been wanting to do, James was one of the first people I reached out to. His wife was incredibly nice, accommodating, and understanding of our situation. James came out the following Saturday, took measurements, and spent time discussing the repairs and upgrades I wanted done. Then--nothing. I was completely ghosted. If he was too busy to take on the project, I would have completely understood. If the project was too small or simply wasn't something he wanted to take on, that's okay too. But after being a returning customer and taking the time to have him come out, measure everything, and discuss the project, I feel like I at least deserved the courtesy of a response. I called James directly and left a voicemail with no response. His wife had also confirmed my email address before he came out, so there were multiple ways to simply let me know they weren't interested or available. It's really unfortunate because I reached back out specifically because of the great experience we had with James 8 years ago. I would have happily continued recommending So Cal Woodwork to family and friends. Unfortunately, after being treated this way as a returning customer, I can no longer recommend them. Such a disappointing ending to what had previously been a very positive experience.

My appointment was rescheduled four separate times, often last minute. As a mom of 10-month-old twins, my schedule is very structured, so the repeated changes were especially disruptive. I understand things come up, but the lack of reliability was disappointing. I ultimately had to move forward with another company. **Update: After the owner's response, I went back and reviewed our messages and he's correct that there were two reschedules, not four. I appreciate the clarification and understand that one of the cancellations was due to a family emergency. Hope all is well with your mother. That said... scheduling delays, limited availability and multiple reschedules still impacted my timeline and planning, which ultimately led me to move forward with another company. I understand that unexpected situations come up, but reliability and consistency are important factors when choosing a service. Sharing this for transparency so others can make an informed decision.

I preface this with the statement, if I could submit this review with zero or negative stars I…read morewould happily do so. Beware...Do Not Work With This Company or Anthony Duhu. While Anthony is a smooth talker and has a likable personality, he is not to be trusted. Do not be fooled - he does not have a license, doesn't pay he employees on time and makes a ton of mistakes along the way because of his lack of attention to detail. I was led to believe this kitchen remodel project would be finished in 6 weeks - it is now 15 weeks and the project is still not complete. There were no structural or other types problems which arose with the space which delayed progress. The problem was Anthony over extends himself, is not a clear communicator, hires sub-par sub contractors to work which he does not supervise, has poor attention to detail, is not forward thinking and he, nor his workers, arrive on site before 10 am or work on weekends typically. There were multiple weeks when no one showed to do anything. Anthony also will make you feel like your complaints are all small issues and takes his time to address them. He cuts corners and then just tries to cover up his mistakes which he always blames on someone else. The only people I have had not problems with were the electrician and the tile installation (aside from them unplugging my garage freezer....we didn't know for a week). Thomas the electrician was fabulous and I would recommend him to anyone needing a quality person! Problems which occurred: Three separate painters needed to come because of sloppy work and mistakes....four of the doors they painted are already peeling. The mud and drywall work needed to be fixed in five places because there were seams left. The painters and mud workers destroyed the xeriscape front yard by dumping their waste into the DG and desert plants - Anthony did get that fixed but it took three months. We had a window moved and Anthony mis-measured the spacing so the cabinets lined up 8 inches from the window on one side and 15 inches on the other. To remedy that he had to add a shelving system I didn't want. He also mis-measured the cabinets and didn't leave enough space at the ceiling for the appropriate molding. Again I was told - don't worry it's fine. His original cabinet worker walked off the job because Anthony had not paid him. I requested Conditional Waivers of Release from everyone he had work on this job because I don't want any liens. I received one only I fired him from doing the back splash and counter top. Anthony was given $ to purchase stone for the project and 8 weeks later he still had not paid for it. When I renegotiated the contract I requested the money back for the stone immediately - I am still being told "I'm working on it". Anthony stated "if I have problems like this 2-3 times a year then I'm ahead of the curve". He doesn't care about you or what you go through when these problems occur or how the length of the project negatively affects your life. I also doesn't bode well that at least 3 people working in my home made derogatory comments about Anthony(which I will not repeat here) and stated this would be the last time they worked on a project with him. I would NEVER recommend Premier Home and Design to anyone ever. Stay away from this company and any thing connected to Anthony Duhu period.

After interviewing several reputable contractors it was evident that my design choices would require custom cabinetry. Premier Home Design was recommended to me by another general contractor who often works with Anthony for custom cabinetry. After feeling discouraged by the lackluster GC's I had interviewed, Anthony was a breath of fresh air! He was perceptive to my design ideas and not scared to tackle the project like many other contractors who just wanted a "quick and easy job." With a busy work and school schedule I needed a contractor I could trust to make sure my dream kitchen became a reality. Anthony was very accommodating of my schedule and kept the project moving forward, even when I had to leave town. Anthony scheduled reliable subcontractors for framing, electrical, plumbing and quartz countertops. An extra special shout out to Jared with Absolute Plumbing who succesfully accomplished what 4 other plumbers/GC's said couldn't be done. We had a 13" drop ceiling in our kitchen because all the plumbing, including the main waste pipe were running directly above the kitchen from the second story. With no wiggle room for error he managed to re-do all the plumbing up to code, so that we could have 8' ceilings in our kitchen which allowed for 39" upper cabinets. If it wasn't for Anthony, we would not have gotten flush 8' ceilings from any other GC, and Anthony got the plumbing done for half the cost of any other plumber! Anthony was always accessible and easy to communicate with, patient with my design details (e.g., he let me provide the sketches and dimensions of my custom glass cabinet doors, custom wood hood vent, custom paint colors, etc.), accommodating to my schedule, and paid attention to finishing details. He was receptive to any changes or fixes that needed to be done because he prides himself on quality work.
