2.5 stars. I was…read morelooking forward to having some good Indonesian food for lunch while on a day trip to the Netherlands, but unfortunately, most of the Indonesian restaurants in Delft are only open for dinner. Plan B, appropriately named, was the only one I could find that was open. I chose this restaurant based on reviews, and when I got there, I wasn't sure I was at the right place. From the outside, it looked like a bar, and the sign just said "Plan B Wine and Beer." Even upon entering, I had to scan my surroundings pretty hard to confirm that it was an Indonesian restaurant. They had Bintang beer and a few Indonesian pictures on the walls, so that was a tipoff that I might be in and Indonesian restaurant. I was hoping for some rijsttafel to introduce my family to Indonesian food, but the lunch menu at Plan B was very limited. We ended up getting gado-gado (warm vegetable salad) and satay ayam (chicken). The satay and peanut sauce were excellent, but it came with the worst lontong (rice cake) that I've ever had in my life. The lontong was oddly fluffly and mushy, very poorly cooked. The gado-gado was OK, but not very authentic. It seemed to come with raw lettuce, and it didn't have any potatoes or tempeh in it. Service was decent, and the waitress was kind enough to offer to translate parts of the menu from Dutch to English for us. They don't take credit cards. It wasn't the worst meal ever, but I will definitely seek out other restaurants the next time I'm in Delft.

Best meal of the year! My first experience with Indonesian food and our lovely waitress Gayetrie…read moredid a wonderful job of guiding us through the menu. Everything looked amazing, so she helped us narrow down the options. We had a sampling of starters that featured a fish cake, pickled vegetables, pork sate, spring roll and banana leaf wrapped rice roll. We also had a sampling of the satay, that included pork, chicken, lamb and beef. Best satay I've ever had - flavors are perfect and spice amount is just right. For entrees, we had the banana leaf wrapped fish and the lamb dish. Each dish was prepared to perfection with just enough spice to bring out the flavors of the fish and lamb. Service was outstanding! If you are in the mood for the best meal you've had all year, come here.

And actually we should have gone way before today, as the food was great :-) For example for starters, we took amongst other satays. In the Netherlands, a satay is normally some meat which is drown under peanut sauce. Not at all here, those were simply very nice skewers with a gentle touch of different meats and sauces. The steam cooked crab and fish cooked in a banana leave was simply excellent. Then for main some chicken, simple and delicious, and lam, with so many fantastic spices. So this place offers very refined Indonesian food, without the usual heavy food of other "traditional" Indonesian restaurant in the Netherlands. For the service, it's good and efficient, nothing special to say about that one.
