This place is so HUGE! It looks small from the outside, but once you go inside, you see multiple floors and bars, also a patio on the back on the canal. Simply LOVELY! The staff is so friendly and sweet, I thought they were fake at first, but they are genuine. I spoke to them about the location and their building and they are wonderful. I only had one sandwich there at lunch, but it was lekker. Price was decent too! Can't beat the location! read more

Great location, poor food and lacking wine. Overall, we had good food while in the Netherlands, however this place was the exception. It has potential--great location and great for people watching, however the food has a long way to go to be on par. The baked eggplant with Mediterranean salad was tasteless; and the shrimp wasn't cooked properly/or the shrimp was old --I didn't finish it due to concerns about eating it. The Merlot wine was the worst I had while traveling; however, the cocktails seemed decent. read more

Highly recommend! I have gone there three times now with foreign visitors and it's a big hit. If you sit in the "basement", it really feels like you stepped back in time to a classic "Dutch" home. Or at least what Americans think seems old, and Dutch. the basement also sit right at canal level, so you can look out the window and passerby's up over the canal. This is the worst service experience I've had in a long time. We went at about 20:40, because it was listed as being open late here on yelp. One server seated us and took drink orders as we looked at the food menu. Another server came and took an appetizer order. Then a bit later, the first server came back with drinks, to announce the kitchen was closed, and we'd have to order from the bar menu. The other person who'd taken the appetizer order never came back. We tried ordering food from the bar menu, and they later came back and said sorry, they couldn't make that because the oven was turned off. We asked about other options, then the waiter disappeared to check, and never came back. So we paid for the drinks - which we never would have ordered if we knew there is no food- with another server, and left. They clearly had no interest in customer service or satisfaction. The pizza place down the street was a far better experience! I gave two stars only because the ambiance was nice, though soured by the poor service. read more

I was in Delft for 5 days and I had lunch here twice. The damp chill made me hungry for soup and this was a perfect place to quench that desire. The first day I had a spicy cabbage soup with creme fraiche. I'm sure it was loaded with antioxidants as it was a deep purple color. A little thin, but adding my soft brown bread thickened it and the flavors were delicious. Today, I ordered the Thai pumpkin soup. Again, spot on flavors with a little crunch from pakchoy bits. I liked the secret spice tea. My lunch partners enjoyed their sandwiches and soups and teas and beers too. The atmosphere is pretty and relaxing, housed in the old butter factory and modernly decorated with jazzy techno music making it a calm space. Service was excellent and friendly. Prices are right for the quality. The location is convenient, just a half block off the market square, and interesting too with a view over the canal as well as tables out front for people watching the market traffic. The menu has a kids menu and offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as an extensive bar menu. Very nice! read more
