Still under construction, it is history in the making - this is where past, present and future collide. An old tram depot. Old rails, old roof structures, old heavy metal doors as high as ceiling - this is magnificent. And now it is new home to cinema, shops, studios and restaurants. Come and explore!

I have been hoping for the longest that this concept would come to Amsterdam and yes, here it is finally! Indie Brands Local Goods Markt reminds me of my favorite spot in LA, which is La Cienga Farmers Market. I believe Amsterdam have done a fine job in using this public space as a vehicle for building up great local brands. I hope this market becomes a model for the rest of the markets in the future. I so look forward to coming back soon!

Then just over a year ago, Sybo opened up a take out place featuring organic fries as the special item on the menu. Anyone who has been to the Netherlands or Belgium knows that a good fry stand is a treasure to be found. Sybo is one of those treasures. Unless you hate things that are organic, you're bound to enjoy the fries here. I like to add a veggie burger while Im there and call it a meal. To make matters even better, Sybo himself is a nice guy and a longtime resident of the neighborhood who is interested in his customers and makes people feel at home.

Everything was freshly prepared, delicious, clean healthy food, but bursting with flavor. The soup was incredible both days. Slightly different each day, but amazing with lots of veggies and tons of flavor. I had a toastie one day and the cheese was delicious, nice and warm with sweet tomatoes and fresh edible flowers. My mom had a lentil salad that was SO GOOD. Lots of yummy treats, veggies, and more. Cheese on top was amazing. They served it with smoked fish, which the chef/owner actually smoked herself!! She told us all about the process. The coffee was tasty and service was quick. Price is very reasonable, but the place is cash only (or Dutch pin card). Highly recommend!
