It was the best Indonesian food that I had while staying in Amsterdam and The Hague for a week. They have endless choices of meat, chicken, seafood, and vegetables. All the food are made fresh and seasoned with authentic Indonesian herbs and spices. The service was quick. People are very friendly and also more importantly proud of their food. 5 min drive to Schiphol Airport. This was my first experience having Indonesian food and it was awesome. The woman (presumably the owner & cook?) behind the counter gave us a very descriptive run down of all of our options. Having never eaten Indonesian food we needed a lot of help. She was sure to explain how spicy each option was and in times of being unsure she gave us a few samples! She heated everything up as we picked our beverages from the self serve fridge and delivered our meals to our table. The large serving was huge - there was no way I could finish it. My boyfriend, a large hungry man, just barely finished his. I will definitely be having Indonesian food again and highly recommend this place! In the time we were finishing our meal we saw the same woman give the same generous descriptions and samples to plenty of new patrons. Very friendly! The best Indonesien food I had so far. The taste was absolutely delicious and the range of different meats and vegetables is very very much. The price is okay you get a big plate with different food which you can choose by yourself. I recommend the sweet chicken it was of the chain. Wow....... Like wowzers!! I think I've written enough reviews proclaiming the heeeerlijkness of indo-food, but this place really puts others to shame! HUGE selection and for you veggie heads out there the herbivore selection knows no bounds and trying to select two is close to torture!! If you haven't been here before, I shall explain the process... 1. Walk to the very back of the toko - this is the start line. 2. Select one of the rices, noodles (there are MANY to choose from) 3. Select two veggie dishes. This is no easy tasks folks!! They all look super lekker and if you are a fan of tempeh, you will be in heaven!! I had the aubergine/tempeh in spicy sauce and peanut sprouts... but in doing so I missed out on the sate bean sprouts, spiced sweet potatoes, other tempeh schempeh dishes... .AAARRRG... I had to quickly calm the F down and tell myself that I will be back....... 4. Select two meat dishes. The "spicy" ones are REAAAAALLY flavorful, but not that spicy. Also a huge selection and any choice you make will be right choice. 5. Next, go sit down and enjoy!! Wat suuuper gezellig is, is that you don't pay until you leave. So just sit down, grab a drink yourself if you are thirsty, and when you leave, you can pay for whatever you consumed. What really tops this place off to a 5-star rating is the decor. Bamboo napkin holders on the wall... in fact, you can't see the wall with all the orchids, vines, oriental decoration, lights... you'll know what I'm talking about when you walk in. But what I love the most is homegirl (owner) has pictures of herself all over! As someone from southeast asia, I'm happy to see stuff like this as it reminds me of the culture over there. When you walk into someone's house, you will see MASSIVE pictures (larger than real size) or scrolls of the women or marriage photos. Here, you will see pictures of homegirl in the rice fields, homegirl with her hands together, homegirl brushing her hair in the warm Indonesian breeze. Luckily, the staff was able to understand my finger pointing and request for spicy food. The service isn't exceptionally quick, but faster than any sit down place. While, I find it a bit strange that the food is microwaved, it's quite tasty - though a bit salty. Also, I wasn't a fan of the hard boiled egg that you can tell has been sitting out for peeled sitting in the cooled food area (it was rubbery). I think I had bok choy and some bean sprout veggies, along with 2 types of chicken. The soy based version was ok and the spicy one had a nice kick. Overall, I would probably come back. While the business information states that they take credit cards, I don't think they do. Instead, they take Maestro (debit) and they take some type of Visa, but it was probably Visa Electron (Debit). They definitely didn't take my business MasterCard credit card. read more

Located off the beaten path in an inviting food court outside central Amsterdam, Anak Blitar is a simple and delightful family-owned and run buffet. The amazing selection of truly authentic dishes are all handmade by the Indonesian chef (just fabulous). The seasoning of most selections is fairly mild, with a few dishes on the pleasantly wild side. The service is very friendly and the prices are quite modest. They also do a brisk take-away business. My wife and I are seasoned world travelers and I lived and worked in Asia for many years. If you're looking for the real deal in Indonesian food served in a welcoming and casual setting, I doubt you could do better than Anak Blitar. Highly recommended. read more

Look past the tacky interior. I ordered what the owner suggested from the long display counter, took a drink from the fridge and sat down. A few minutes later my meal arrived piping hot. Everything gets microwaved and there's no secret about it. Delicious. read more

What a nice surprise. Delicious Indonesian food in Hoofddorp. The food is buffet style which is a little intimidating at first because they're are so many items to choose from. But the extremely friendly owner walked me through the process. Your food is heated at the end after you've made your selections and comes out piping hot. What's nice is their spicy food is actually spicy (unlike most "spicy" food in Amsterdam). Not the kind of spicy that causes pain, but the kind that makes your nose run a little. They also have mild versions of every dish if spicy is not your thing. I highly recommend the "pulled beef". It's a local favorite and was delicious. I had rice, two vegetables, two meats, and two beers for 19 Euro. Very reasonable and well worth it. All of the staff was friendly and their English (and Malay) are excellent. read more

We have heard from our friends that Indonesian food at Netherlands was excellent..sometime better than the real one in Java.
