Adorable coffee shop located right on the Hingham Bathing Beach which makes for a beautiful view of the water while you're sipping your coffee. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The shop has a warm atmosphere with cute coffee related decor. The coffee itself is very good. The beans are ground right infront of you and brewed right in front of you. The coffee and goodies are on the more expensive side but that's to be expected from a smaller coffee shop especially one that's in Hingham. read more

I was in the neighborhood again and wanted to grab one of their delicious coffees together with a pistachio muffin. My son wanted a grilled cheese. It was 4:18pm, the store closes at 5pm. I was told that the grill is turned off already, so no more grilled cheese. I asked how this is possible since it's almost an hour until closing, the boy behind the counter said that's what they do, no more grill at least an hour before closing. I ordered my coffee and muffin and got both in take out containers without being asked if I wanted to have it to go. I asked them if I can please have a plate and a regular coffee mug because I want to sit down. I got what I was asking for but with an eye roll. Sometimes I really wonder why such an awesome coffee store cannot get their employees on board that opening times mean full service until closing. If anyone is looking for advice - don't visit this store after 4pm if you want to experience good customs service! read more

Was searching for an escape from my Starbucks regime and found this hidden gem on yelp. Almost left because they don't have wifi and I brought my laptop to do work but happy I stayed. The building is on the dock overlooking the water. Chalk board menus, big ceramic coffee mugs and homemade baked treats sucked me right in. I ended up talking to the manager about how happy I was about the no wifi policy- it caused me to journal and shoot a few messages to old friends which I had been meaning to do but never took the time to slow down and do so. He said they are trying to keep it from becoming another shop where people burry themselves in their laptops, it's a place for conversation and reflection. I've actually driven from Newton to Hingham just for an espresso from Redeye. (A good excuse for your spouse/partner is 'I'm taking the kids to the beach'.) It's the best cup I've found in Eastern MA. After a decade of drinking Stumptown from the source, it's hard to stomach Drunkin' every day. We have a George Howell place close by, which is good, but Redeye is fantastic. Stop in if you've never been! read more

We went there on Sunday morning for breakfast and ordered a Latte, a cup of Moroccan Mint Tea, a Chocolate Croissant, and a Bagel. Out these 4 items, the only one that was worth writing home about was the Bagel. The rest was awful. The coffee tasted burnt. The Moroccan Mint Tea tasted nothing like a Moroccan Mint Tea (I've had Moroccan Mint tea before, in Morocco!). The Chocolate Croissant was so greasy that it made me feel nauseous all day. My husband and I's FAVORITE coffee shop. Redeye Roasters takes coffee prep to a whole new level. I mean WHOLE NEW LEVEL. The coffee they use is freshly ground and they offer very unique blends. My husband loves their coffee so much he drinks it black. I on the other hand am a huge fan of their mint tea matcha latte. Redeye offers both milk and soy which is great for me as I am lactose intolerant. The ambiance of Redeye is very casual and relaxed- the decor is really funky and neat. My only two complaints are that you need to use a key for the bathroom (annoying but understandable given its proximity to the marina and beach). The other complaint I have is some of their seating indoors feels too low for the table and I find some of the chairs almost "sag" when you sit in them and make it hard to get back up. My husband and I have been known to spend an hour or two ordering and drinking coffee/teas and reading the paper there. read more

I get coffee here as often as I can. So far, I have always just got what ever is brew of the day they are serving and I am always satisfied. They will do an individual pour over if you want, but I have not tried that yet. I have tried their pastries and grill cheese sandwiches and they are excellent. Today I took home a pound of their fresh roasted beans and I made a most awesome cup at home with them. Place is cool and the service is good. I doubt there are many places where you can get a cup with beans this freshly roasted. read more

Great place. Amazing to sit and sip on high quality lattes and coffee while overlooking the harbor. Moving into lunch options too. Stylish interior including the working coffee roaster and cool mugs. 2 criticisms: 1) Notoriously unfriendly staff. No smile? No "your welcome"? and when I am the only person in the store you can't carry my drink over to me but have to yell my order out? Small business managers have to get their staff to make the place inviting. 2) I get its on the harbor and the bathroom is only for customers, but from November-March its only customers in the store anyway, so no need to treat those who need the restroom like criminals. read more

I was looking for a cute Portlandy-type place to start my day, so I decided to check out Redeye Roasters. It's really easy to get to right on Route 3A, and has a great view of the harbor. The coffee is good, but the vanilla latte I got wasn't vanilla-y enough. The staff are super nice and easy to talk to. About half the chairs are plain wooden ones, but the other half are cushioned and really comfortable. I hate when coffee shops have uncomfortable chairs, so I was stoked about this! The decorations are cute and quirky, a mix between antique and handmade. The music they play and the volume level is pretty innocuous, so if you wanted to come work or study here it's not distracting. The biggest gripe (and probably the only one) is that there isn't any wifi. If you're paying $3.75 for coffee it should definitely cover the cost of wifi too. This is a big enough issue for me to knock off two stars. If this place had wifi I'd be happy to come spend hours (and many dollars) here, but without it I just can't. read more

Unfortunately, I felt a little uneasy and uncomfortable after one of the baristas was condescending in talking to other customers and workers. I didn't get his name but he had a beard wore a beanie. Watching him interact with others made it clear he probably should work on being more personable and less condescending. read more

Great location, good coffee, but the blueberry scone was totally devoid of blueberries. When I mentioned it to a worker the only answer was "We don't make them." A five star coffee shop took a hit for poor quality baked goods and bad customer service. Would I come again? Yes but for coffee and atmosphere, not food. read more

If you can get past the too-cool-for-school employees operating the register, the coffee is quite good. Unfortunately, they are at about a 50% success rate with me. Today, for example, after a nearly 2 hour early morning SUP in the harbor, I walked over and ordered an iced almond milk mocha. I was the only customer currently being served (there was a family sitting and having coffees) and the barista called out an "iced almond latte". I told her I had ordered a mocha, and she said, "well, the slip says latte". I said, "well, I ordered a mocha". The barista then offered to make me a mocha, but I'd already waited over 5 min. for the incorrect latte and needed to get going. She added chocolate directly to my drink and it was ok, but for over $5. for 1 drink, I think they should have given me a coupon for a free drink. If you have all the time in the world and don't mind waiting or having a teenager mess up your drink order, try it without expecting much and you may be pleasantly surprised. *If you want friendly baristas who make your drink correctly, then head to the Starbucks down the street. read more

My husband and I love amazing coffee and baked goods. We will drive all the way to Hingham to try a place with great reviews. Our experience was good - not great. The coffee was very good, but the baked items were limited and 'average'. I would recommend this if you're in the area and looking for a good cup of coffee. I would not recommend it as a 'destination' place. It had a cool vibe though - and the staff was friendly enough. It was slightly small - but that added to the charm. Yes I am in love with all the drinks here...I started with the Red Chile Lattes because I was trying to quit coffee last year...The loose teas are all by MeM, exceptional teas, really, great choice, the only teas I like better come from Harney & Sons..The atmosphere is very casual and laid back, with music like Amos Lee & Grateful Dead played low..The staff is very knowledgeable and well trained now. There used to be some very clueless people working there mixed in with the good people but they are all gone now...now that my quitting coffee didnt work I get everything from the Full Bodied Pour Overs to the lattes and their daily grind...They have soy and the Baristas steam the soy very well...If they were in NYC they would give Stumptown a run for ther money...The coffee is roasted on premises right in the Harbor, in microbtaches by the owner usually...i wish they had almond millk and agave...i stop here and walk my dog on the waterfront in the morning while I wait for my pour over...So Delightful.. read more

Went here for the first time today and tried the nitro coffee, as well as the cold brew. Both were very good. The employees were friendly and offered to explain anything we had questions on. The only downside was the lack of wifi, but since it's a smaller space it makes sense since they probably don't want people hanging around forever. read more

Thank goodness I stumbled upon Redeye Roasters soon after suffering a lousy cup from one of the coffee shops in town. While camping at nearby Wompatuck State Park, we came to the Hingham waterfront most days and relaxed for a time at Redeye with superb coffee and sometimes a pastry, oatmeal, or a great sandwich. It's easy to see they are passionate about roasting and serving excellent coffee. The bathroom, for patrons only, is kept very nice and clean. read more

I am a coffee junky. When I travel I research the coffee houses in the area. I thought the paramount place for good coffee, comfort, and a fine vibe was in Stumptown NYC. Then Red Eye Roaster Hingham opened right in my world. Nirvana. It is hard to say what I like best about RE. As soon as I approach the door I am greeted with the wonderful aroma of roasting coffee so pleasant, even if it is lingering from the day before. The coffee pours like fine wine with a wonderful appearance, aroma, taste, balance, and finish. I take my first sip with my eyes closed so as not to miss any element of the flavor. The staff is consistently cheery and friendly. They are like good friends who always seem glad to see you. The ambiance is inviting; it's hard to walk away when hitting it on the way to work. On weekends it is the best place to linger with a book or make new friends in the comfortable seating area. Went to Stumptown again recently and it just seemed blah after Red Eye. read more

Finally Hingham has a legit coffee shop! I was stoked to find out that my old home town finally has a place to get excellent espresso, cappuccino, pour-over, etc. Come here to support a small, local, high quality operation that simply does it right. Product is priced fairly considering quality and the fact that it is difficult to cover costs as one of the little guys! The negative comments posted here seem, to me, to come from a limited perspective that probably does not understand the specialty coffee industry. If you want 60oz *wink* of iced coffee, pandering customer service, or big-corporate-style control of baristas, etc then I would point out that Sbux is literally down the street. Even given the challenges of running a small business that rocks I would bet that these guys will hang on and gain progressively more loyal customers.
