I am very thankful I am feeling better since coming to Redemption. Depression and anxiety can be hell! I really like Dr. Nathan Shaw and he never rushes any appointments and seems to take time to really listen to me. He recommended that I try TMS. TMS has helped my anxiety and depression a lot and I am very happy I tried it. Things I really like about TMS -The waiting room is nice. You won't have to wait long but if I do have time to wait it's nice that they have snacks and cold water for me and my daughter. -When they ask you if you want the lights on or off I often say off and just listen to music with earbuds and try to relax. -The TMS chair is comfortable and the techs will make you feel comfortable. -The techs will check in with you to make sure you are doing ok and ask about any changes to medications and can answer all your questions. -Easy to reschedule an appointment if needed and I love the option we have to just send a text message so you don't even have to push numbers or wait on hold. I started going to this office in 2019 because I was struggling with a mental health crisis. I worked in a call center and had a lifetime of unresolved trauma. I came from a generation and a family that doesn't believe in mental health. And for those who do, it's heavily stigmatized. My original psychiatrist was great, but she moved to a location in downtown Phoenix. I switched to a different psychiatrist, one who was great with both my children. I switched my son over to her as well because HIS psychiatrist would cancel appointments for no reason and eventually left this location to focus on her own practice. Everything went great for awhile; I was somehow managing my alcoholism, and I was doing my best to function as a human being. Here's where things get sticky: I have health insurance, but it's not going to cover things like ketamine or other treatments my plan deems unnecessary. I didn't have money to cover myself and my kids, nor did I have the means to drive 45 minutes away from Maricopa, 3 days a week, and ditch my job, where my hours were always during the day. I had to make do. When I went to detox in December, I was working a very stressful job, up to 70 hours a week. I messed up by having the police called, and I know this. I am imperfect. But I and other patients weren't given the dignity of being seen as human beings who deserve basic C rights such as clean clothing and facilities. I deserved to be given my medicine, which I was not. When I got out and saw my psychiatrist, she told me I'd I wasn't a drunk, I wouldn't have problem. She told me things my daughter told her in confidence and me she wishes I'd been arrested. She's also gossiped about other therapists who are no longer there. If I'd known her history, I would have found a way to go to downtown Phoenix. I'd have never kept my kids with her. They love her, and that's great. My daughter forgave her because I encouraged forgiveness. But this behavior was devastating to my already low self esteem and recovery. I'm a huge fuck up and I know it. But I am also not going to pay a fortune for a 30-60 day program that my insurance won't cover. They wouldn't even cover my court-ordered stay in detox, or the ambulance service when I was forced to go to Tucson. And her response was always: don't be an alcoholic and you wouldn't have this problem. But I wish you'd been arrested so you can have consequences. Honestly, I'd say find another facility for your psychiatric needs because they'll either help or they won't, but have no problem telling you that you're worthless if you don't use their treatment. Such a shame because they used to be great. And maybe some doctors still are, but no one deserves to be treated like a loser when we already feel that way. read more

I was referred to Redemption Psychiatry in Gilbert by our primary care provider for one purpose. When I arrived, I was promptly charged a hefty copay for services for that day. Within 5 minutes it was determined that they could not help us with the service we were referred there for, and we were given a list of places that "might" be able to help. When I asked for a refund of my hefty copay since they did not provide any services, they told me all the reasons why they could not do that and explained how they had still spent time with us. Yeah, 5 minutes to determine they could not provide the service we were there for. At most 10 more minutes to print a list of places that "might" be able to help and highlight a few of them that take insurance. That's it. Meanwhile, they are still planning to bill my insurance for services rendered and sticking me to a hefty copay. To say the least I am very frustrated and displeased. read more

My child has been seeing Landis Stokum for a few years and he is amazing! He is responsive, invested in his patients, willing to try new medications or adjust dosage as needed. Redemption is great! I've been going here for treatments since 2019. I never have issues making or rescheduling appointments. They even called while I was on the road late to an appointment and we switched it to a telemedicine visit son I could find a parking lot and have my appointment! Also just started taking my young kid here for ADHD evaluation and medication recommendations. They gave us recommendations and options for medications and referrals to traditional talk therapists and other behavioral therapists for him. They did not just throw Ritalin at us, but actually talked to us about multiple medication options so we could think about what would be best for him. read more

Horrible experience trying to schedule an appointment for my son. My son is currently overseas and needs an appt for med management when he returns in 7 weeks. This practice prioritizes policy over doing what is best for patients in need of services. Making access to care more challenging by stating "the patient has to make the appt themselves - no matter the circumstances" isn't helpful to the patient. Claiming it is a HIPPA violation to make an appt is ridiculous. I'm providing information to the office, not asking for information to be shared. I can call our primary care, dentist, cardiologist, etc to make an appt for my husband and no one pulls this "policy" out of the book. And, most places allow scheduling online at this point as well. Sad that given all of the health care challenges for patients with mental health struggles, these hoops make it even worse. I hope the providers are better than the management and scheduling departments. read more

They started out good, but claimed they did not accept United Health (despite many competitors accepting so we were self pay. Did TMS and Ketamine as self pay and treatment worked well. Then, out of the blue they call and tell me because of changes to medicare (bs), they couldn't accept self pay. They would not provide me with any documentation of this ruling. I see Dr. Hippe and my experience today was awful. I started seeing him because I had a job switch into a huge high school district during school closures. I had a lot of pressures and anxiety which triggered anxiety, depression, and my PTSD. Dr. Hippe is who told me that he felt I had PTSD. It's not shocking, I was basically raised by wolves and had a horrific childhood. Not all that unique but it is what happened. I found a counselor who specializes in PTSD and once my medications were working for me I stopped seeing Dr. Hippe. I had so little time for all of the appointments and the pandemic was getting to me. Counseling was much more beneficial that meeting with a psychiatrist for generic discussions about meds. Today I had an appointment to see what I needed to do to get paperwork work regarding PTSD. My school is an abusive environment and in order to get basic kindnesses, like giving 48 before important meetings and telling you what to do to prepare for meetings, has to be an ADA accommodation. When I got to my appointment Dr. Hippe accused me of being off of my medications. He immediately implied that I was off of my meds rather than just asking why I made the appointment today. I am not, and if he looked at my file, he would know that I have never gone off meds. I take medications very seriously as I come from a family of suicides. I just get them from my pcp because it is hard to schedule appointments as a teacher who also works two other jobs. Dr. Hippe seemed almost offended that I was asking about the PTSD paperwork for my work. He started telling me that I needed to make other appointments for that and he wouldn't consider the paperwork for months. He also repeatedly asked if I wanted to cancel our 'relationship'. I was so confused why he went to such extremes. For my own mental health, I can't wait months to be given basic consideration at work. I was happy to do a couple of sessions but MONTHS??? I recommend finding another place. This seems far more like a business than a caring provider. read more

Wow, did they go downhill fast. They won't apply my new (2023) insurance info to my account. They rejected it and never looked at it. This was a tele appointment. I've sent pictures of the insurance card in an email to them, including a copy directly to their billing department. No acknowledgment of its receipt. I called my insurance broker and called Cigna which consumed a significant amount of time and confusion on the part of Cigna, wondering why this provider refused my card when it is most definitely covered. Long story short, and 48 hours later, i talked to a billing representative of Redemption again. After holding for a long time a get the same agent who is working from home. She was not professional in any way. Communication was further hindered by the baby screaming in the background. Then the rep transferred me to another department where I was on hold for 1/2 hour or more. Sad that I just changed my insurance to cover Redemption Psychiatry and I am stuck with them now. P.S I do like my prescriber (Dr.) there. He is very good. Too bad that some in the office are so unprofessional. read more

Read all the reviews. Ran out meds. Requested a refill through their portal. Had an appt scheduled with Lamia. Pharmacy made an attempt to refill. No response from the office. Received an email on the day of my appointment from "management" dropping me as a client. I violated some "policy". Poorly written generic email. When I called multiple times to inquire, the front office staff ran interference and stated that "management" was busy all day. The stories are all the same. Do better Redemption. read more

Dr.Navarro has been difficult to work with, she will prescribe you a controlled substance that requires regular appointments that she is not available for. She only works one day a week. My prescription was no longer available in my county & the only thing this office did for me was charge me for missing an appointment I did not need, even after communicating with the office that my medication was unavailable. If you miss one appointment with Dr.Navarro you will be transferred to someone else for care which is extremely tedious, you will not be able to get an actual appointment with any provider for months. Do not suggest unless you want to get started on a controlled substance just to be forced to quit it cold turkey due to your providers lack of availability. read more

I've been going to Redemption Psychiatry for years (maybe 3-4 years now). I've spent thousands of dollars here, between psych appointments, Ketamine, & TMS. The front desk staff has always been awful, never answering calls or responding to messages. However, the doctors were good. I had been seeing a doctor until December of last year, when I was told that she was leaving the practice. Fine. They transferred my care to another. Five months later, I'm informed that she is, too, leaving the practice. Fine. I put in a request to transfer to another doctor within the practice. Four weeks go by, I'm about to run out of meds, & I inquire about what's going on. I was told that I was denied by one of their doctors, so they sent their request to another who was out of town & couldn't respond. I was told that they would reach out with an answer. Now it's six weeks later. Out of meds. Haven't seen a doctor in 8 weeks. Still nothing. So I inquire again, and am given another lame excuse. Meanwhile, I'm getting emails from Redemption reminding me that my MEDS WERE GOING TO RUN OUT. Fast forward to today, I have found another practice. I still have NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION from Redemption regarding my care. They dropped me as a patient & didn't even inform me. However, I'm still supposed to pay my outstanding balance of $27. Not going to happen. Meanwhile, I'm finding out from friends that they are currently accepting new clients! Woohoo! So glad that they can afford to take on the care of new patients, but not those who have spent thousands of dollars and who has been an existing client for many years. I am disgusted by the way that a psychiatry office would treat patients. read more

I liked this place initially. The provider was nice and worked with my son well. However after about 3 months I received huge bills. After calling the office I found out that my insurance information was listed incorrectly so they said my insurance covered them when it did not however, they stood up and took responsibility for the mistake that they made. They told me they had another provider that did work with my insurance so we switched over to seeing that provider however, after my appointment with that provider, I got another large bill. I called my insurance company to find out that they in fact do not cover that provider either! So, after assuring me, they found a provider that was covered by my insurance they again did not, and I was left with another huge bill so obviously, this is not a one time problem, but a reoccurring incident. Do not take their word for anything if you want to go here you have to do the extra legwork to call your insurance and verify yourself that they are covered. Do not trust what they say when they say that they are covered. On top of that they would only do medication management and would not do any kind of therapy or counseling. I would rather have the medication management done by the same practice that is also doing counseling so that they are on the same page with the treatment working together. read more

Insurance said my copay would be $90. When I arrived the receptionist said it would be $186! I told her all i had was $100 . The other woman said 'we'll need to cancel that appt then and you'll be charged a cancellation fee of $150'. Sooooo you can't bill me for $86 so I can see the psychiatrist but you can bill me for $150 for a cancellation fee when you're the one that's canceling the appt? This is why ppl go postal! Be warned, Dr. Beals is outstanding, but the office staff is an absolute joke. This is the most unprofessional group of "medical" staff members I've EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. As mentioned in other comments, best of luck to you if you need to reach anyone about medication changes, refills, or problems. You might get a call back in two months after you've made multiple attempts, waited on hold for hours, and left numerous voicemails. Then, you will be directed to email a "nurse" directly as a fix to the incompetent office staff. This is great for about two e-mail exchanges with said nurse before the condescending and belittling responses start coming back to you. You will be made to feel unimportant very quickly after they take your money. It's a shame, because Dr. Beals is a great doctor, but you are extremely limited on the time you're allowed to communicate with him. The rest of the time, you're stuck dealing with a bunch of unprofessional low-grade "medical" staffers. I'd advise you look elsewhere for help. read more

Dr. Beals is AMAZING for kids, Mandy is amazing for adults, Mia also a fave, and Randy is incredible and very personable. Christina is an amazing manager who runs a great operation, and is eager to help with any issues. You can't go wrong here, and with 4 locations throughout the valley, you can get great providers anywhere! We also had a great experience with Dr. Andrew Lyons as well! They have an amazing ketamine program, and a state-of-the-art TMS program. They are literally leading the cutting edge of technology for mental health! First time seeing a new provider and my refills were just skipped. I've called the office for two days now and was told sorry I provider isn't in. I have been a patient at Redemption for over a year now and have NEVER had a great experience. To start, its nearly impossible to get a human on the phone. Their call routing service sucks. Often times, you'll get to what ever option you were looking for, just to sit on hold for 10 minutes and then have an answering machine pick up. Jason Friday is supposed to be my doc. His name is on my prescription but I met him once for 30 seconds and he was either really nervous to talk to me or hitting his own Aderal prescription a little too hard. His LNP did an OK job helping get meds right but often times I felt like she really didnt care and was just trying to push one of their "innovative new therapies". I even caught her text messaging during one of my check ups. I asked her if she needed to step our to "take care of that" and she told me she was texting with the doctor. Common man! Today was the final straw for me. There MO is that once a patient gets their medication figured out they write scripts for 6 months worth of refills and on month 7 you come in for a checkup to make sure things are cool and make adjustments if necassary. I missed my appointment by an hour but still showed up (I mixed up appointment times on my calendar, my fault). The receptionist "Jo" got really snarky with me about being late and trying to reschedule. I reminded her very nicely that her salary is paid for by my patronage and I have no problem seeing my PCP now that my appointments are just "check ups" ... She didnt like that, we exchanged some choice words and now I am no longer Jason Fridays patient. I do not recommend this place unless you are interesred in Ketamine Therapy or the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. They'll gladly hook you up. read more

This is a very unorganized operation! Providers seem eager to write prescriptions without listening and getting to know the child. They also require you to come in every 30 days with your child to refill prescriptions which isn't practical long term. They had our daughter do testing for ADHD without even discussing results with us at any point. Such a waste of time and money. Definitely avoid, wish we would've! read more

This place is unprofessional, and we wished we never went there in the first place. Our son had been a patient there for some time, until Dr. Nate Shaw decided to drop him as a client. My son suffers from a variety of issues and is dependent on his meds. Our son was a resident in a facility out of state for several months and apparently this was an inconvenience to the Dr. and his staff. By dropping him suddenly, this caused a disruption in his treatment and left us scrambling to fill his meds before he ran out. Having a psychiatrist create this kind of anxiety and possibly induce physical withdrawals due to the interruption of important meds is borderline criminal. We will be seeking legal advice. read more

I had to physically show up to get service because they ignore your emails, put you in an endless loop of hold music, or claim to forward your issue to the provider and you never hear back. I gave them a second chance after the last time this occured, but they claim to have no record of conversations that have occured or appointments I've been to. They just want your money. My now 15-year-old son has been seeing Danielle Garcia, PMHNP at this office for over three years. Danielle has been amazing to work with. She is very compassionate and understanding and provides great positive reassurance. When my son was younger we were told he had ODD. After two visits with Danielle, she indicated that my son didn't demonstrate clinical characteristics of ODD. It was incredible that after telling us this and removing the negative label, my son seemed like a different person! My son does have ADHD and we continue to see Danielle for treatment. Our entire experience with the Gilbert office has been fantastic. If you are having trouble with your provider, I highly recommend Danielle Garcia instead. read more

My previous psychiatrist closed his practice without notice, which meant I had to find a new provider. I have good insurance, but finding a new psychiatrist wasn't easy. Most of the in-network providers actually work in psychiatric wards or hospitals and don't see outpatients. I was left with exactly two possibilities -- neither one a psychiatrist per se, both psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioners. I had to wait three months for my appointment, but I finally saw Ann Marie Casey at Redemption Psychiatry in Gilbert. She had good communication skills and "bedside" manner, and I liked her from the start. She asked me a lot of questions and conveyed true interest in my responses. Often, she would ask a follow-up question to get more detail, changing the course of the original question, but I liked that too. Unlike the other in-network psychiatric nurse practitioner I had already seen, Ann Marie told me she didn't want to make any changes to my medication regimen, given we had just met. She wanted to get to know me first before dabbling with my meds, which I really appreciated. My previous psychiatrist(s) and I spent years, literally, of trial and error to get me to where I am today. I didn't want a new psychiatric provider to ignore all that effort, thinking she knew best, the first time we met, what meds I need and at what dose. Ann Marie ordered a test for me to take to determine whether I genuinely have ADD (evidently with better reliability and validity than the questionnaire I completed for my previous psychiatrist). If the test shows I don't, she'll stop my Strattera prescription, which is fine with me. I don't want to pay copays for and take a daily med that doesn't benefit me. I felt good when I left there. Oh, I arrived late because I had been given the wrong suite number in Redemption Psychiatry's address. The sign on their door is too small to see while while driving in the parking lot so you might want to double-confirm the complete address when making an appointment. I have been told by everyone and their mother how great redemption psychiatry is. I have been with them for 2 years now and I can tell you that this practice's priorities are money first, and patient's needs aren't even a close second. For months I complained that my medication was doing more harm than good and to let me try anything else. I told them how my quality of life was decreasing and bad side effects I was having, but month after month, that fact didn't matter to them except I always had 1 drug (out of hundreds) that could "help". This only option was a $300/month drug that the doc also gets a convenient kickback on. To compare, I'm paying $2.50/month for my current meds. Unfortunately that's not the worst part. I was mentioning to my doc that I think I get my anxiety and coping skills from my dad. All I meant by this was to give an explanation when asked where I think a certain feeling came from (genetics). Instead, I was interrogated to admit that my dad abused me. If I was as depressed as I was 2 years ago, I would've created a memory that stuck just because of the immense amount of pressure I felt to "admit" I was hurt as a child, even though my dad is wonderful and would never even dream of hurting me. Not only am I appalled by this, but also very worried for other people before and after me. That had potential to ruin one of the most important relationships in my life. There are a ton of dirty politics in the background that goes unnoticed since we have mental health issues and are vulnerable and compliant. I had an appointment with Melinda, and she couldn't even talk to me face to face when i had a complication. The phone number provided can't even go through anytime before 8 am, and they booked my appointment for 7 am? If Melinda is going to rely on the front girl to do the talking for her, she should have someone more professional. They charge up the ass for horrible service. Went for a second opinion. The provider met my teen daughter and within 20 minutes made a (new) diagnosis. Followed up 1-2 times, but it was always a struggle to get an in-person appointment, even though when we started it wasn't an issue, and our time constraints and need for in-person visits were discussed upfront. They get you in, then can't provide the services needed for follow-up. They then tell you it's a 14-day wait to (maybe) transfer to a Redemption provider at another location (if approved). What do we do if we wait 2 weeks and don't get approved? Run out of meds? Then we are the noncompliant ones. This is mental health. It shouldn't be so difficult to find an inpatient visit among this number of providers over several locations. Electronic Medical Records should make for a much faster transition of care, to close the gaps. read more
