My son was hospitalized on 10/06/25 to 10/22/25 for psychosis brought on by excessive Adderall. My son went to Serenity to get treatment and instead, Sarah Moody prescribed him even more Adderall, on 12/27/25 and he was back in psychosis within one week of his prescription. The office has no after hours drs on call, yet, they are allowed to prescribe drugs that are highly addictive with zero regard as to what they do to their patients. I worry about things like anyone else and didn't agree with her findings. She then had one of her nurses call my phone saying do you want me to read what the nurse said about you? I'm floored that after 2 15 minute appts she was able to diagnose me with anxiety. She seemed more worried about telling her CNA Lucy maybe I need TMS therapy. Is that what they push there? Is that how they make commission. I recently saw a forensic psychiatrist who only diagnosed me with adhd. Serenity is a money grab and shouldn't be diagnosing people after 2 visits. I live closer to the Estrella location but I had the honor of coming to this one for one of my ketamine appointments and it was AMAZING! every serenity i've been to has been decorated in such a welcoming and comforting way, making me feel like im not at a miserable mental hospital but somewhere i don't mind going to everyday. this location has the COMFIEST chairs of all the locations in the area. i know it's just a chair but during the treatment it's like sitting on a cloud it's incredible. i wish every serenity had these for ketamine treatments because it was incredible! friendly staff as always and the clinician checked in on me very frequently to make sure i was comfortable and okay. 10/10 care i appreciate this team and their location a lot! read more

Just when I thought it couldn't be better, I had a good outcome on a prescription that Ryan started me on so even though I already had a 30 day supply, after two weeks, I asked for an increase and I was in his office the very next day and he increased it right then, effective immediately. The phone staff I talked to and the office staff both are nothing but very friendly and professional. It's taken 25 years to find a psychiatrist office that has worked out so well. From the moment the call representative took my information, to the front desk all the way to my provider- I felt comfortable and actually listened to. Everyone in this office is so kind too, I even almost didn't call the office due to reviews. However, even if you're going through the bad reviews, remember there's hundreds of great experiences that won't be listed. From the other reviews to my experience- My wait time was a little long, but I needed to fill out paperwork so they could have record of it so that was no issue. This location makes it very clear from the signs at the front desk, down to emails, reminders, even telling you over call, in person and signing the form of their payment and cancellation policy.( That includes their price increases! I know price increases aren't great, but due to rise in costs and more, their out of pocket costs are lower than most!) Overall, they're really friendly, professional and welcoming. I made an appointment over the phone and gave all the necessary info. The earliest they could get me in was 3 weeks. They called a week before the appointment asking if I could come in for an earlier appointment and I couldn't. The day before the appointment they called and said they do not take my insurance. Easily the most professional experience I've ever had with mental health care! I get great care at Serenity and appreciate more than anything how empathetic my care has been from the start. While I wouldn't be able to afford this care without my insurance, it's the best mental healthcare I've ever gotten with my insurance by far. On top of that their only form of communication with me was 1 phone call with no voicemail. It's 2024, most calls I receive are spam garbage. They sent no text, no email, did not attempt to get ahold of me on any other way to let me know about this confirmation rule . This place was one of the only places that actually called me back when I left a message. They were super kind and thorough. Their office is very nice. However, some room for improvement: 1) Don't make people do the new patient paperwork twice. I thought, "great, I can do it online and not have to do it in the office." But then you handed me THE EXACT SAME PAPERWORK I'd already filled out and told me you needed a paper copy. Why??? Such a waste of my time. Pick one please. 2) Don't charge a cancellation fee if I'm cancelling through no fault of my own. My son threw up a few hours before my appointment. Run away from this place, they are money hungry deceivers!! I had been a client since June 2020, and had a great doctor back then, Dr. Viera, she understood me, and made me feel comfortable sharing my behavioral health challenges, and was always honest and open about charges and treatments. I moved from the Desert Ridge location to the Biltmore location after she left, as she moved out-of-state, and I did not feel the same with any of the other doctors at Desert Ridge. I moved on to the Biltmore location, off Camelback and 24th Street, with Dr. Brooks, and he didn't seem to care for what I had to say, and would sometimes bill me for time that exceeded my actual time with him, as he always was behind, and made me wait almost every time I had an appointment with him. I then switch to Dr. Stegner, and she was great, very attentive and kind, she recommended I try out TMS, and I told her I would be interested in knowing more, and finding out if my insurance would covered it, and how much I would have to pay out of pocket, she then passed me on to Diane, she requested more information from me, and informed me that she would work with my insurance to see if it would be covered, and how much that would be. I was later contacted, and asked to go into the office to discuss further, Diane informed me that my insurance approved it, and would cover a certain amount, I informed her that I was not able to afford the amount I would have to pay out-of-pocket, and told her I would think it over, a few days later, Tyler, called me, and asked me to go into the office, to talk over what could be done, as I told him I was not moving forward with TMS, as it was too expensive for me, after insurance. I went in, and he then informed me that they would be able to "HELP" with some of the cost, that the "IMPORTANT THING FOR THEM WAS TO HELP ME OUT, AND WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP WITH SOME OF THE COST, TO MAKE IT AFFORDABLE FOR ME" See photos of texts, we talked over my concerns, and were able to come to an agreement that the cost I would be able to cover for all 36 SESSIONS, would be a total of $2,395, as per the photo attached, and signed that authorization, of what my total payment would be for the 36 TMS Treatments, I was later informed that each of the 8 sessions I started with, was between $205-$290 per session, so I stopped and I was also not enjoying my sessions with all the head taping, that was making my right eye twitch randomly, and a dull technician, that would place the helmet on incorrectly, as I had initially a great technician, and noticed the change. I contacted them and told them I wanted to stop TMS, and informed them I was showing the charges incorrectly, and NALU OKIMOTO, kept misunderstand my billing question, so I then requested to speak to the Practice Manager, and was connected with KYLE MABEY, he seemed confused at first, and later understood my concern and billing question, and he then claimed that was my deductible, and blamed it on that, being the reason why they overcharged, I explained to him that was not the agreement, and that I had been informed, my out of pocket, after insurance, would be the $2,395, and that I had set auto payments according to that, for that reason, he then informed me that If I would go back and get the 36 sessions, SERENITY MENTAL HEALTH would then honor the QUOTED Amount, I told him I did not want to do any business with them, and that I would be changing providers, and he never responded there after, no solution, and I still show the OVERCHARGED AMOUNT, this place is unethical and highly misleading, I will be seeking legal counsel, as this is not right, and they are breaking the signed agreement. I moved here to Arizona 2 years ago and was stressing out about finding a new mental health doctor.My family doctor I visited before I moved from Savannah Georgia had given me a 90day supply of medications before I moved so I would be able to have a 3month supply until I found a new therapist. I found a amazing Family doctor right away. I asked him after my first appointment if he had a suggestion for a doctor to take care of my mental health. He said Dr Tripp at the Gilbert Location. I got home. I looked them up and made a appointment for the next week.The office and staff were amazing and kind,I felt good about the place but still nervous. I was taken back,got my vitals and went straight into Dr.Tripp's office. He stood up right away to shake my hand and welcomed me.I handed him my medication list, and I had tears because I was so nervous and so depressed. He looked at my medication list and said he was a little worried about what I was taking because it was such high levels of depression meds he couldn't believe it. We had a little talk about my anxiety,no sleeping and depression. We talked about what I thought about trying new medication because mine wasn't working. Got weaned off the medications and he ran tests on me. Not only I'm bipolar/adhd, which I never got tested on, he prescribed me new medications OMG, within a couple of weeks, I started feeling so much better and actually felt like a normal human .Fast forward to 2years later. I am a new person! Yes, I still have a bipolar low for a few days once a month, (mean and depressed for a few days) but nothing to worry about. My appointments used to be a hour, now I breeze in and out 15 minutes.The staff ,intake nurses (Hi Curly) and Dr Tripp gave me a new life and I feel they saved me. I adore them and my husband is so happy and we are grateful for everything they have done for me. In fact today the front nurse called me and told me they had to reschedule my appointment for next month and what medicines did I need to tide me over I've never had that kind of courtesy and that's why I believe that they are just the best 5 STARS my friends read more

Avoid at all cost! If I could give zero stars I would. I set the appointment for myself. I have white coat syndrome I told them I didn't want my vitals taken at this time. The assistant said she would need to check with the PA. Not sure who came in next but they pushed all the wrong buttons. It's required to give out medication well I am not requesting any. I am simply here so I can get accommodations for work. She said without the vitals we can't move forward with the appointment. Also you will be charged a no show fee for the appointment $150. So first you try to push me into something that makes me panic and then try to threaten me with a late fee. Sad to hear this all about the money. Maybe you could have worked with me. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I set up an appointment before they changed their prices on March 15, 2024. Unfortunately for me my appointment date was for after their price changes. I was unaware of how much these changes were until a family member, who has been a patient here for many years, informed me the day before my appointment. Cash pay for first time patient visits were $350 & cash pay visits for established patients were $150. They increased their prices exponentially, first time patient visit were changed to $500 & establish patient visit was changed to $350. That's a 2x rate increase! Their reasoning behind the price change is "in the current economy and due to a massive increase in missed appointments, we cannot afford to pay our staff a living wage without increasing rates". Their staff is paid at a "competitive rate", receive many health insurance benefits, as well as paid time off. Essentially we are paying those things. For them to have new Stanley cups & still be paid when they're not assisting us in the office. My appointment was with a nurse practitioner, wasn't even with a psychiatrist. They were unwilling to wave the cancellation fee nor honor their previous prices. I was initially informed of the $500 visit because I asked what it would be when I first set up my appointment, they still never on their own informed me of it. I do take accountability for not taking the time to research why it was that amount because a different family member paid $350 in January for their first visit. Although on their site there is NO mention of a price increase. Also never received an email or letter in regards of the price change. I have been going to Serenity for the past 4 months based off of a review a friend of mine had on Facebook holding them at pretty high regard! Sadly my last two visits haven't been any good. After my second visit I made it clear to both Dr Dahl and my "patient care advocate" that I wasn't interested in Ketamine therapy or the electro therapy due to cost. I expressed how much of my stress is coming from finances numerous times but the doctor continues to stress how to get it past my insurance after so many more visits or medications tried. Every visit I would speak to a different advocate who would ask my the same questions on how I am feeling then immediately dive into up-selling me on the other plans. Before being taken into a separate room to be asked by the doctor the same questions and be told about the same optional treatment plans. Today's visit, for the second time, I had to wait an hour before speaking to Dr Dahl. The Patient Advocate sent me to a room after asking the questionnaire and telling me for the 6th time about a product I don't want. No one came to check on me or fill me in on how long the doctor was taking. I poked my head out at about the 55 min mark to see 5 of them chatting around the receptionists desk. Do what you do at work, but all I ask is make sure people are filled in as to what's going on... I just want to see someone that can help me feel better. After these 4 months, I feel like I've actually taken steps backwards with Serenity and sent myself deeper into debt doing so. read more

I just received a cold phone call from serenity. The woman who called began by asking how she could help me and my response was, I don't know. You called me. She then asked if I was my son. Clearly I am not. She then said she got a referral and could not give me any information. I explained that I am the mother of the person she asked about and my son is a minor. She then said she would look at the record. She said it was a "referral" from a year and a half ago and that they were just now catching up on backlog. She could not tell me who made the referral or what it was about. I have never heard about a referral of any kind and have no idea. She could not explain and the timeframe she gave me does not correlate to anything. This is disturbing on so many levels. There is a mental health crisis in our country. It is disturbing, to say the least, that an office specializing in mental health and psychiatry would think it is OK to follow up on "backlog" a year and a half later - and then have no clue who they were calling or why! I teach graduate school for clinical mental health counseling - and from this one interaction, I would never refer to this provider. At best, it is sloppiness and a lack of professionalism. I have been a patient for a number of months now. They don't do counseling here in any way shape or form. So if you're seeking a counselor, this is not the place for you. They do make that clear AFTER your first visit. And I do like Dr. Lahaie and most of the staff. That's not why I'm here... This is a pill house. I have been on a rotation of pills. The reasoning? Insurance won't pay for TMS unless you've had so many attempts to solve what ails you via medication. So the questions when you go in - 'how is the medicine working? Oh, not good? What do you think about this one?' And every time I go in, the staff always alludes to asking the Dr. about TMS. So I'm not very impressed with this part of the practice. This may work for some, but it wasn't for me. But that's also not why I'm here... I'm here because they state that all calls will be returned in 2 business days. A call on a Thursday should be a call by Monday at the latest. No call on a Tuesday on a call about a complication with a medicine. Not a medical emergency, but it was enough to cause me pause and call the office with a request to call back or schedule an appointment. Absolutely disappointing experience. First time calling them, everyone I talked to was beyond nice. They seem to care and want patients to get the care they need. Little did I know that these over the phone care coordinators are in different states and not in the offices. When I went into the office in chandler, the front desk ladies were okay though I believe it is really important to provide a warm and welcoming experience, especially for a mental health center. I filled out my patient paperwork online through the patient portal, which was extensive, and then they made me fill it all out again at the office. That was frustrating. The NP, Bree Scott, was fantastic. She was kind, understanding, and truly shows that she cares. She diagnosed me and prescribed me medicine that would last a month. I scheduled an appointment in a moth for a check up but knew I wouldn't be able to make it a few days prior. I tried calling to reschedule or cancel.. no answer. I was charged $60. I then called again to at least get a refill on my prescription because I was nearing the end. I called and talked to a nice man that told me he'd make note and let the psychiatrist know and will call me back. During this phone call he scheduled a new appointment for about two weeks out to actually meet with the NP. Two days later.. nothing.. no call back. I call again and now they don't even respond. I called days prior to reschedule again and of course no answer. I left an voicemail.. and still no answer. So I got charged $120 for both "missed appointments" even though I tried to let them know ahead of time. I'll be honest, I wouldn't waste my time with this place. I've lost too much money and STILL don't have my prescription. It's unfortunate that the psychiatrists and NP's care but all the workers in between that coordinate care and appointments don't. I work in the medical field and know when your dealing with people you have to be kind and flexible to a certain degree while still being able to run a business. They are NOT either of these things! The doctor is able to cancel on you so she can go on vacation but you better not dare to be literally 1 minute past their 10 min so called "grace period" or you will be turned away no matter if you have taken off work, driven miles to get there, waited three weeks to switch offices to see any provider available while showing considerable flexibility they do not care! Their call center is staffed with incompetent people who will promise to call you back but won't. But wait their office staff is just as bad. They will call and harass you to show up for tests 30 minutes after you literally were just there taking that test. The receptionist will lie and say she called you but for some reason like " the WiFi connection not working" she got a message that she couldn't leave a voicemail on your phone. (Huh? I always just leave my phone number so I'll get a call when I'm next in que. saves the frustration of being on the phone for an hour. they've always been there for me and pulled me aside even personally so I could just let out my frustration. they are not therapists and aren't suppose to be! please note that. it's for medical and physical mental health solving. not talk therapy. they are so sweet and allow service animals. remember you by name quickly. acknowledge you as people. Beware of this place if you have an urgent need, crisis or request.... I have no issues with the doctors I've seen but was subjected to severe pain due to lack of being able to get them to return calls to myself, my pharmacy or my surgeon to approve meds I needed for pain management. I had to leave work to drive into the office, I still got no response from them until 3 days after the surgery when it was too late. I'm glad I was not having a mental health crisis, who knows how that would have gone down. There is also NO resources after hours. There is a disconnect with the "call center" and communication breakdown even in the office - if you call after hours, there is no answering service at all it just disconnects you and says try back during business hours. NOT cool for a company who boasts urgent mental health care. I will be separating from them after what I had to endure at the lack of professionalism and client care I received at the Gilbert office.
