The food was terrible, and l mean terrible, l order teriyaki steak, and house lo main in which, l didnt receive my teriyaki steak, but upon receiving my food l notice how cold it was, l start eating the and the lo main was extremely greasy and at the bottom was loads of chicken that obviously seem like this chicken life span was longer then mine, very discolored and hard to the touch, l called about my teriyaki steak and the woman on the phone, who was quite pleasant, said it was not on the order, lm going to chalk this one up to the fact that it was late and maybe, they were trying to get out of there, you alway give a business a second chance to redeem themselves, so l will try them again, hopefully, a little earlier.. read more

Expensive lunch - $17 (Spicy chicken entree with fried rice, one shrimp sauce, and large tea) Spicy chicken (sauce in the chicken is thinner than it used to be with less taste- maybe ten small pieces of chicken; Fried rice is hard and seems to be old or reheated - nothing but very little egg and onion in the fried rice (used to have a little vegetable in it), but there is a LOT of rice (fills the container) - Shrimp sauce seems to be watered down with less taste. This has been a long-time favorite in Shelby with excellent food, but I want them to notice that customers may be noticing a decline in quality. Nothing special anymore!!! This place is dead to me. I used to come here a lot over the years. The prices have become OUTRAGEOUS. The sign out front used to say "6.99 lunch", the owner was taking it down when I walked in. I ordered a lunch plate it came to 10.99, and they added another $3 because I ordered it with 1 meat (was the 10.99 for vegetarian? In that case just order lrg lo mein.) Then the new registers ask if you wanna leave a 20% tip on top of that. Yeah, I think not. I'm not impressed with my experiences at this restaurant. The older lady is not very friendly and demands I call I my orders. The thing that actually infuriated me was when she got angry when I payed with my card. Then proceeded to charge almost $2 as a fee to use my card. So because this business chose a terrible card system we the consumers have to pay for their mistakes? This made me angry. I don't know how they stay in business when every Asian restaurant one city away in Kings Mtn. is way better food. The only reason i stopped was because it was late and on my way home. Wow you want to talk about disappointment. Having just moved up from Atlanta GA where they have amazing Asian food this was just lord I don't even know. The food tasted not fresh at all, the spring rolls taste like old oil, steak had a weird taste and their sauces have no flavor. I am wondering how sick I will be later or tomorrow. Best Japanese and Chinese restaurant in the County. I eat here multiple times a week and never have I had a bad meal.

Sometimes I get "bonus points" for bringing home takeout for dinner. This was one of those nights. You can't miss the building with the bright red roof and bright lights. Inside, there is a steam table where a front counter would normally be, with multiple pre prepped dishes. Employees are quick on the draw with toothpicks if you want to sample something. It's pretty basic, you pick Chinese or Japanese, one or two meats, lo mein or rice, and egg roll or fried wonton. It seems like the Japanese is cooked to order on the grill (aka hibachi). Your choices are piled into a partitioned takeout container. $8.93 for Spicy Beef with Vegetables, lo mein and egg roll (maybe 1.5 pounds of food). The beef dish was good, the lo mein okay (not a lot of "goodies" in it) and the eggroll very "meh". Decent place for some quick Chinese takeout. read more

There are quite a few Chinese places in Shelby and Red Wok is definitely not my favorite. That being said, it isn't bad either. It's very quick and fast and they have a great lunch combo (entree, rice or noodles, and tea for maybe 5 bucks or so). I tend to go to Red Wok for two reasons: I really like their bourbon chicken and their lo mein. They're not the best ever but they are pretty good and you can easily pick them up to go in minutes. The staff is always really nice and the restaurant seems to be well run. Most of the food (other than Hibachi entrees) is held on a steam table but it always seems fresh, although it's clearly not made right then. I've grabbed lunch here a time or two in the past but I don't like that the bathroom is around the back of the building. If you need to use the restroom you have to walk outside and all the way around. read more

Love this place! A hidden gem! Friendly staff, great service, amazing food!! We live out of town and they always remember us when we visit.

I used to really enjoy the food there. However, on the time I ate inside the roach crawling up the wall beside me turned me away.

The absolute worst Asian food I have ever had in my life and the tea tasted like someone had used the container as an ashtray. Don't trust the reviews like I did. read more
