This was my first time eating from Double Dragon since around 2011/2012-ish. That place has…read morechanged! Last time I ate there, the walls and lighting inside were much brighter, the floor space was less open, and there was a lunch buffet. Also, the menu has changed a little since then. All that said, the food was still delicious. I had the General Tso's chicken, and I'll absolutely go back for more (that is my go-to dish at any Chinese restaurant). As far as food goes, my only real complaints are that they don't put as much sauce on the chicken (I like to mix the extra Tso's sauce with my rice), and the fortune cookies were stale. My only other real complaint was that the food was called in, the quoted time was 10 minutes, I arrived in 8, and they hadn't even started on the food. And this wasn't due to business, as there was only one couple inside eating, no phones ringing, and no visible cooks working hard on orders. It would appear that they simply do not cook the food until you actually come in and pay, which completely defeats the purpose of calling in ahead of time. After paying, I still had to wait almost 10 minutes for the food.

So, we headed into the restaurant to dine there for the first time yesterday at the Double Dragon…read moreRestaurant. I can say that we had a pleasant experience. Zi was our server (the owner's son). He is a sweet young man and was very helpful in explaining anything I asked about certain menu items. We didn't know we could have such great sushi so close to home, so I know our daughter is going to be happy. I miss the sushi already. To be honest, I wasn't aware they served hibachi-style food as well as sushi . We ordered the Dancing Crab sushi roll (suggested by Zi), sweet bread (basically doughnut holes), and fried cheese wontons as a starter. Oh my goodness, I loved both of them!! My husband, I promise you, is not a fan at all of fried cheese wontons because, well, they have crab. But he absolutely loved these. Another thing to note is that the owners actually make these fresh, not prepackaged, like some other places we've been to. I also loved the taste of the sauce. I had the spare rib tips with pork fried rice, vegetables, and an egg. I fell in love with the taste of the rice because it reminded me of the Chinese food I had from Jersey growing up. The sauce of the spare ribs was delicious as well. My husband had his go-to General Tso's Chicken extra spicy and extra saucy. I've never seen that man eat the chicken first and leave the rice. Needless to say, he loved it. Our son had the pork and broccoli. He also enjoyed his food a lot. Our friend had the teriyaki chicken and pork fried rice with egg. Another hit. Onto some cons... In my opinion this restaurant has the potential to be more. While it has been here for a while, there are things to note that can make it feel like a place people would enjoy to sit and enjoy a meal. 1) The paper plates and Styrofoam cups need to go. While I understand there was a pandemic at one point, we are past that, and honestly, a sit-down restaurant feels more inviting with metal utensils and real dine-in dishes and cups. 2) I wasn't too fond of the shrimp egg roll at all. It was way too salty; I couldn't get past the first bite at all. 3) Not as many tables, and there is room to add at least three more tables. All in all, despite the minor setbacks, we give this place four stars. I'd definitely return for in-restaurant dining, especially if the tableware were updated to something appropriate for its food.

My middle grandson is spending the night with us. When dinner time rolled around my wife asked him…read morewhat he would like. He wanted sesame seed chicken with noodles substituted for rice. It was a to- go order and it was ready, on time, and hot when I got there. Initially I thought this was a small amount of food for the price point. Actually it was deceiving. There's enough food in there for at least two separate meals. The total cost for two orders was 30.96 USD. The noodles were the star of the show and they were perfectly wonderful. New Century Restaurant has a gigantic menu selection. I only hope the other foods that I try are this good because I'm going to be a regular customer and fan of this place. A strong 5 stars for New Century Restaurant.

Family owned since 1960, and you can feel that in every part of the experience. The parking lot was packed when we got there, which is always a good sign. We grabbed a booth and the sweet tea came out right away with a pitcher so you can refill it yourself, which is a small thing but I appreciate it. Ordered the flounder and shrimp and it came piled on a paper platter with fries, slaw, and the hush puppies. And those hush puppies are seriously worth talking about. Big, hot, crispy outside, soft inside. The portions overall are ridiculous in the best way. The seafood platter is a good call if you can't decide, flounder, perch, catfish, deviled crab, shrimp and oysters all on one plate. The slaw is creamy and fresh, not the watery kind. They also had homemade cake slices up front and we grabbed a piece on the way out. There's a warmth and a character to this place that you just can't fake. Glad it's still here.
