I started working for a new company recently. Employees are given boot vouchers to Red Wing Shoes. A coworker and I went together to peruse shoes. It was really refreshing walking in and being asked only once if we needed any help. After we said we were browsing, we were left to it. I'm not a shopping kind of person, so the privacy to browse was deeply appreciated. My coworker found a couple of pairs she wanted to try on and an associate named Abraham was great at accommodating her. She ended up making a purchase and was very happy. I had done some online review and found a pair of boots I wanted to see in the store. Abraham was able to help me try on a pair of a different color, as the store did not have the color I wanted. There were very few remaining pairs left of the boots I wanted, but somehow he tracked them down and was able to secure a pair for me. After a couple of days, I went to pick up the boots I had wanted. I've had my boots for two months now and am still very satisfied. Abraham was a rockstar! read more

Be certain to know their return policy prior to making a purchase. It is 30 days! No where on the receipt nor in the store does it note this policy. When I asked where the policy was noted I was told it is on their website. I did not and do not go on a website to check a return policy if I am purchasing an item in a brick & mortar store. I purchased $350 boots in the store and when I went to return the boots as they just were not comfortable (only wore them on carpet around the house a couple times) was told they would not take them back. After 10 minutes of the salesperson arguing with me and telling me to call customer service I asked him to sit down with me so we could call customer service together. Some how he then agreed to credit the sale of the boots back to the credit card. For a reputable store that has been in business for 120 years in the USA make customers jump through hoops to return a product that does not fit their needs is discouraging. Customer service is continuing to decline. They lost a life long customer. read more

The worst experience in this store and over 10 years of buying shoes I'm assuming I talk to the manager today , you know who you are I bought shoes a few weeks ago. Shoes are not breaking well with my feet suffered in pain limping it wasn't the right fit for me so I went to take the shoes in to return them and, I got all kinds of grief was embarrassed in front of customers I was told in front of other customers that I am taking advantage of the return policy. I've return shoes in the past after wearing a few weeks because my feet do not do well with hard shoes, not my fault , I was born this Way !!!!! Been shopping here for many years. The store always has what I need and will usually ship to me since I live 4 hours away. I buy the same boots every year and they keep my info on file. When calling the store, I wanted the same boot but it was not in stock and would take 4-5 months to get. However, I knew that I could take a wide in the same size so I asked if they had that in stock which they did. The saleswoman was going on and on about how shipping is delayed and my file doesn't say that I take a wide. It was almost an argument and I really didn't care about shipping or what my info said in their computer. I needed boots. I told her I would come in in a couple days to pick up. She said they may not be there when I arrived. I had to insist a couple times that I could pay for them over the phone and pick them up which I eventually did. She needs better phone skills. I knew what I wanted and didn't need all the unnecessary BS that she was going on and on about. My time was limited and I just wanted a pair of boots, was willing to pay for them and pick them up. It was pretty simple but not for her. On other visits, the staff is very friendly and helpful however this experience will make me think twice about shopping here again. read more

I walked in here excited to purchase my third pair of red wings and unfortunately that did not happen. I received the rudest and unfriendliest customer service ever in a red wing store. I was not greeted and rather rudely stared down at, then when I asked for my size, he just replied "for what, are you just going to look at them?" Once he brought it out, he didn't even say if I needed a different size to let him know, he handed them off extremely rude. After I tried them on and was deciding on taking them I got up to grab a boat that was wide to feel the different fit- he comes and grabs the boats I just tried on and takes them without asking me first if I was going to take them or not. I asked him if there were any wide boats for the ones I wanted and he answered with "idk if it's not online we don't have it" with ZERO interest to further help. The customer service at this store is spectacular. I've purchased a few pair of shoes here over the years due to my companies contract with Red Wing. I bring in a voucher, pick at shoes and pay any price difference if one exists. This time however I was bringing shoes back. I bought my most recent pair a bit ago and they were becoming unbearable. I wanted to give them time to break in but no matter how much I tried to bear and grin it my foot / ankle kept getting worse. I wandered in after work today, shoes in their box, lacking a receipt. They quickly pulled up my account and said an exchange would be no problem. They offered me a few pairs well within my companies guidelines. Before trying any on the employee offered to size my feet. He said I needed to stick to a standard 8. The ones I had before were an 8.5 but even with thick socks that could be why I was sliding around. He suggested I get an 8, even if they felt tight at first, and allowed myself to break them in slowly. I walked around the store a bit and settled on a pair. They were kind and patient in processing my exchange. I didn't have any insoles this time but they have been quite informative when offering me help picking out insoles. I am not a fan of buying work boots but I am eternally grateful the employees here are so incredibly patient and helpful. I also love how high quality the material and construction is on these boots. Came in to buy my second pair of boots over the weekend and decided to leave my old boots to get oiled, I was under the impression they would at least wipe off the old dirt before treating them with oil but they don't clean your boots they just add oil over old dirt making your boots look darker and dirtier.. lesson learn! read more

I drove 3 hours to the Reno store because they were the only store I could find that had the Iron Rangers in my size and in the color I wanted. I've been wanting a pair of Red Wings for years and years, but never pulled the trigger. I make decent money and CAN afford them, but spending $350 on a pair of boots has always been too hard to justify. I am a huge supporter of American businesses with American products, but again, the price held me back from these. I drove to the store, talked to one of the 4(?!?) People working there (funny because I was the only customer and their COVID sign says a maximum of 3 people). Service wasn't bad, but wasn't great. It was fine, and I decided to buy the boots. I made the transaction, and then my visibly pregnant wife, who just spent the last 3 hours in the car, informed me that she needed to use the restroom. I sent her into the store and she politely asked the girl with half shaved-half pink hair (Professional. Right?) to use their restroom. "No." They told her no. I went in there and said, "Excuse me? I just drove 3 hours to spend over $300 on a pair of boots from you, and you can't even let my pregnant wife use your restroom?!" They refused, and after a brief back-and-forth with the manager, still refused. I was livid. I'm still angry, and it's been nearly a week. I will never shop at that store again as long as I live (and I mean never). This is the most money I've ever spent on anything that goes on my feet, and the customer service was garbage. They don't appreciate your business at all. Luckily, the MCDONALD'S across the parking lot let my wife use theirs, despite not buying ANYTHING. I swore off McDonald's 27 years ago, and have not purchased a single thing since 1994. So, when I swear off a business, it's for life. But, I will use their restrooms. Hopefully this is not indicative of Red Wings' customer service in general, though my experience in their Spokane store wasn't great either (and I overheard the clerk refuse an exchange to another customer who had massive blistering from whatever boots he bought. The boots themselves look great, very well made, seem like they'll last a good long time, and are very comfortable despite them telling me that the Iron Rangers have about a 2 week break-in period. I'm haply with the boots, but from now on I'll just buy online and save myself the headache of supporting a business that doesn't appreciate it. At least then we can use our own bathroom. read more

My wife gets a voucher from work once a year to get new boots. There is a list of requirements these boots have to meet and Red Wing always finds her exactly what she wants AND needs. I like that they store each customers purchase history so they could easily pull up the boots she has purchased over the last few years. That can be handy if you just want to get the same shoe as the last time you were in. This time, however, she wanted something different. She has to have steel toe boots and while those can be heavy the sales associate was quick to point out a pair that were lighter than her previous ones. She walked around the store in them and was satisfied with her decision. The sales associate was very helpful and eager to make her purchase one she would be very satisfied with. This was a great experience and this place fulfills a nice niche to supply local businesses with the shoes they need which are safe, supportive, and comfortable. read more

Pro tip: see of your employer supplies anything before purchase. Mine supplies insoles, and luckily Red Wing is familiar with my employer so I didn't buy any. We had a great experience here! We were greeted promptly and the sales lady helped with finding the right boot and brought out multiple boots to try on. I took away one strong because the gal that was helping was eating cheetos behind the counter and walking back and forth. It wasn't busy, we were the only customers in there so I think that it would have been a little more courteous of her to wait until we left to finish her snack. Horrible customer service. David is the rudest salesman I've ever spoken to. I bought boots here and was promised they would always be cleaned, oiled and put new laces in for free. They kept their word last year. Today I took my boots in and David said he isn't a nice guy like the guy that sold me my boots. He refused to clean them even though that's what I was promised when I bought them. He was extremely rude and disrespectful and laughed in my face in front of customers. I am mortified and shocked. David should be fired immediately. He should be ashamed of himself. Redwing should not allow this horrible, disgusting human being to sully their good name any further. I must preface this review by saying I am 6'8" and destroy work shoes crawling and climbing around doing my IT duties. That being said, after recalling how well my old Red Wing boots held up while I was a cable tech in the 00s I decided to give them a try again. I needed to get a pair of office friendly shoes though. My last two pairs from various sources literally fell apart. Either the laces shredded or broke due to shoddy eyelets or the soles would wear too quickly. It was to be expected for 75-150$ that they would be replaceable, but they always failed at the worst time. So recently on my lunch I stopped by the store to get sized again and to see what was available. I really lucked out as they had up to 15s in multiple styles, including the Oxford model I was eyeballing online. On top of that they were on sale from the normal $200 which made the investment easier to swallow. The fact they offer service for the shoes (lacing, polishing, and replacing soles*) is a big plus in these days of online shopping. I walked out with a kick butt pair of work shoes that blend in nicely with the office attire and are well made. If you beat up you work boots and shoes I highly recommend giving the store a try. It is more than you might pay locally if you find something at Ross, Marshalls or online, but that local help is a great asset. The fact they had larger sizes in store helped as well. It was like finding the work shoe unicorn. read more

I have bought multiple pairs of the logger boot from this store. they used to be higher quality until they started making them in China, the newer logger boot falls apart. When I tried to return them they said it was because of my feet and insoles that the boots fell apart. I had the manager tell me I had the wrong insoles in the boot even though they sold me the insoles when I bought the boot. read more

Excellent customer service! This review actually started about four months ago when I needed new boots. The Reno store was out of the style I liked but said they could have them in three weeks. I'm impatient and wanted the boots directly so I drove to Roseville, CA, the nearest store with the boots and purchased them. The boots started squeeking when I walked and it drove me nuts. I took them to the Reno store. The manager called the Roseville store to confirm purchase, then proceeded to fit me to a brand new pair. NO WANKING INVOLVED!
