I've always bought Red Wing shoes because I've always felt like they were the cream of the crop when it comes to work shoes. Last Sunday I went in and bought some work boots. They looked amazing and I tried them on. They felt good and I thought they looked good. When I used them the next day. The tongue of the shoe hurt my foot really bad when I would lace them up. I had to tie them loosely and when I would take a step they were uncomfortable. I called Red Wing and just like that Sunday when they showed me great customer service in the store they also showed me great customer service over the phone. They said I had 30 days to return them. They said to try them out for 2 weeks and see if maybe all they need is to be broken in. Like I said customer service was really top notch the store was clean the employees were super nice and friendly. Only thing I would say is that the work boots did get more expensive the most I've spent before was about 250. This time the bill was 320, They are good shoes and your feet are your money makers so you need good boots to protect them. Red wings is what you want. read more

I'm basing this review overall on experience that I had with Red Wing not the product. I wouldn't know about their boots because I never got to leave with any. Through my work I get a $300 boot voucher so instead of wearing my usual Timberland Pro's I wanted to try something new. Heard good things about the Irish setters from Red Wing so decided to get a pair. The place in Elk Grove was nice and clean. When I walked in the employees were friendly but it was short lived. Long story short the employee that was helping me swore he could get me the boots, 3 pairs of socks, boot oil and conditioner for $300. I told him. I didn't want to come out of pocket but he kept insisting. He never once gave me a total because he said the computer system didn't show it till the order is done ‍. Then he said $309. I can come out of pocket for that much merchandise. Then he scanned my voucher and said $339. What!!! I thought you said $309. He said taxes. Very misleading. I just wanted to see a total overall but he rang everything up. I wasn't interested in all that plus that price so I told him to take all that extra stuff off. He proceeded to talk to another employee blaming me because it is difficult to return the items purchased with a voucher. I never told him I wanted to purchase any of that, I just wanted to see a total of all the items he was throwing in because it was a very unbelievable that it would be under $300.. there was such a mixup with everything that I had to scan my ATM so they can throw the return on my card and then I'll be able to purchase the boots that way, which didn't work at all and I was unable to leave the store with anything plus they drained my voucher money. Customer service is not where it should be. Bought a pair of boots that were over $260 and they are coming apart. Only had the two months. Sales associate tells me that it's common. If it's common there needs to be a fix. Will no longer by Red Wing boots. read more

I'm not impressed by the service that they just gave me. I was bringing my boot in for a cleaning service that ALL the Red Wing offered! But there were 3 guys assisting one customer, and the two guys made it sound like a hassel to do a cleaning service. One of guys said they would do it this time, like he was doing me a favor. Why would I spend a couple hundred dollars on a pair of shoes, and this is one of the incentives that all Red Wing offers for the customer. I'm really not satisfied at all what they are doing here. I needed a new pair of steel toed boots that were waterproof. It's hard to find small women's sizes, unless you order online. I had gone to three other stores and couldn't find anything I liked. It was about a half hour before closing when I found the Red Wing Store. The young man working was helping a couple other people. I found the women's selection area. For women, it's a small selection to choose from. Probably not a high demand!! By the time the young man finished with his customers, I had narrowed down to the one pair of boots that were waterproof and sleek in design. He was able to find a pair in my size. I tried them on and walked around the store. It was very comfortable. So I asked the young man why I should buy these boots that are double in price of other good name brands out there?!?! I got the answer as most people would say. "You get what you pay for". However, he went on to tell me that I could bring my boots in periodically for a cleaning and free shoelaces as needed. Keeping the boots cleaned and putting on the boot care product on will make the boots last for many years. They also sell the boot inserts made for the boots that you don't have to try to cut to fit. This will make the boots feel new and comfortable again. I checked out their website and they do offer such services. So, I am happy with the boots and my feet have been dry. Small store but very neat. They have a shared parking lot to other retailers. They have more of the selection choices for men. They also sell shoe/boot cleaners/oils to take care of your boots. I was expecting the worst with the really bad reviews. I got there around 1015am on a Saturday with a few customers ahead of me. I was greeted by Eric and after 10 minutes he assisted me at measuring my feet and walking pressure. He showed me and explained the difference between boots I was looking for. I picked some medium duty boots and he recommended some insoles. Katy rang up my order and with my employee work voucher they were a very fair price. Walked into the store - wasn't greeted or acknowledged, woman with short hair at the register was finishing ringing up a customer, she then looked up and said in the most monotone voice "Can I help you." I kindly said, "Hi, I'm running an errand for someone, and they asked me to come here to pick up these boots. Do you have these in stock?" Glanced at my phone and responded with again, a monotone I-hate-my-job voice "We dont carry those." I said, "Oh! Okay, do you have anything similar?" She then responds, "Usually". And stares at me, "but we are out." I said thanks for your help and walked out. I've worked in customer service for 10 years, I understand how it feels to not want to be at work, or maybe not in the mood to help someone, but you work in a customer service enviornment, it doesn't take much effort to be kind to people and offer them assistance more than the bare minimum. Today this store lost my business aid $400 or more! Two guys working, couldn't get boots for two customers at once. The other guy is new and well he couldn't even pull a boot off the shelf with size. Very frustrating, when phone rings they should let them know they are with a customer and call them back, not put you on hold another 15 min while you been waiting already to handle a call that came in after you. I read all the reviews and walked in with an open mind. Ryan the store manager assisted me in getting fitted and finding my proper insoles. After trying on the Crosby boots, BRNR & Supersole 2.0 I had my choice down. Supersole 2 as I can get them resoled when the time comes. Boots weren't cheap but as long as you take care of them and use Red Wings monthly conditioning services which are free you should get Year's of service from your boots. Now I just need to get these damn boots broken in and that's probably going to take 2-4 weeks. Then I'm golden. Instead of trying to help me out he brushes me off and tells me I'm stuck with them. I told him I wanted the phone number to his boss so I could call and complain after arguing with him. Bought a pair of supersole 2.0 boots about 10 months ago. absolutely loved the boots. They fit my foot perfectly and have saved my feet from further damage caused from other boots. only issue was that the sole was falling apart due to a manufacturing defect. I walked in to meet with Ryan, the manager, to show him the issue and he replaced my boots completely for me so I would not be out a pair of boots for weeks due to a resole. this type of service goes far in my book and I will be buying Every pair of work boots i need here for now on. Came in the store last night for work boots for my bf fifteen minutes before closing. The sales associate not only already had the open sign turned off, but also had his computer shut down. When we entered, his greeting was "Got a question before I head out?" We already knew what we came in to purchase as my bf works for Directv who has a contract with Red Wing and they only approve a small number of boots for work. When we told him what we needed he told us to come back because he didn't have enough time to size him for boots. So rude! Even if we came in one minute before closing time a decent sales person would have helped us. It was very clear he was in a rush to head home and had no interest in helping us. Worst experience in my life. I purchased a pair of work boots (HVAC technician) on 05/06/2015 for over $200 the boots are bruising my feet around the toes and are already coming apart at the seams. I walked back into the store today and spoke with Ryan who was not kind in telling me I am stuck with these boots there is nothing he can do for me. I was told today there was only a 30 day comfort guarantee, I showed Ryan the bruising on my feet he said sorry I can't help you and as far as the shoes coming apart after 2 months I should wait until it completely tears off and then he will send back to the manufacture. with my experience I strongly recommend not to purchase red wing boots at the store here in elk grove. read more
