I had an exceptional experience at Fleet Feet in Elk Grove! First off, I was looking to do a shoe fitting, so a few days in advance, I had selected an appointment online. It was very easy to book. On the day of my appointment, I came in 5-10 minutes ahead of my appointment time. I walked to the register and I was helped by Hannah (I hope I heard her name correctly!) She checked me in and directed me to take a seat towards the women's shoes area. She asked me my goals for the shoe fitting appointment, what I liked about my current running shoes, and what brands I was looking into. She then had me complete the feet scan. There is an area in the middle of the store, where you stand on a platform that scans your feet. Thereafter, you will walk several times back and forth on a pressure platform until the staff member tells you to stop. This pressure platform gives you a sense for where your weight is distributed when you are walking. Hannah showed me my scan results on a tablet. I learned that it is totally normal to have a discrepancy in feet size. I also learned about other things about my anatomy like arch and shoe recommendations. The scan results can be sent to your email. Unfortunately, shoe recommendations that are provided during your appointment are not provided through the email, so it is recommended that you take pictures of the shoes that you try on, that you're considering. When you're trying on shoes, they want you to wear their laundered socks to keep their shoes clean. Hannah brought out probably 3-4 pairs of shoes initially for me to try on. She helped me put the shoes on and had me walk back and forth in the store to test the shoes out. After that first round, she probably brought out an additional 1-2 pairs based on how I felt about the initial pairs she brought out. Ultimately, it came down to two pairs. Since I was undecided, she let me simulate running as I would, which was incredibly helpful, and I totally did not expect that level of service. I appreciated that she was warm and friendly, extremely knowledgeable, truly listened to my preferences and concerns, and never pressured me to purchase in that visit. Prior to the fitting, I was a bit nervous that I would be pressured to purchase items, and I am so glad that Hannah totally exceeded my expectations. Hannah also gave great advice on when to return for shoe fittings, such as if you experience a new injury/experience changes in your body (I never really thought of coming back to get refitted, but it makes total sense). This was also the first time I spent a considerable amount of time in this Fleet Feet location. They have a good amount of brands in here, such as Chicken Legs and Vuori. I'm personally a big fan of Vuori, and found that they had a clearance rack with some 50% off items with a nice selection in the back corner of the store. Overall, based on this experience, I would totally come back for my running gear needs! read more

This rating goes to Jordan, who was super helpful during our recent visit. I've been coming here for some time, and out of all the staff members, Jordan stands out. He was welcoming, attentive, professional, and never made us feel pressured to buy or rushed, especially since we were there close to closing time. Jordan was especially patient and great with my son during the foot analysis, taking the time to explain everything clearly along the way. He didn't push us towards the expensive shoe and remained easygoing and informative with other shoes he tried on, which made the experience pleasant for both my son and I. They can get busy, so I recommend making an appointment for a foot analysis if you can, especially if it's your first visit. read more

I recommend scheduling an appointment ahead of time just in case but they also take walk ins & it's not that long of a wait! Lots of parking spaces open all around and conveniently the spot literally right next to a Greek restaurant so you can grab a quick bite while you wait for your turn to go! They will send you a text message when they're ready for you! They are really attentive and supportive on what you are looking for. It's very nice and the prices are reasonable. Fleet Feet is the go to shoe store for all types of running and walking. I've been taking my business to fleet feet for years and when my family needs high quality shoes, we make sure to come here. This isn't a discounted shoe store so expect to pay higher prices but in return, expect a higher quality and close to a customized fit that meets your preferred shoe type. Depending on the insoles that come with the shoe, I sometimes purchase the supportive insoles which lasts a year. I'm so glad they moved to a larger store footprint that allows Fleet Feet more shoe options, athletic wear, nutrition, and other merchandise. Their storage area is also larger which helps make sure they have sizes in stock vs. shipping to your home or picking up from their downtown location. As for the workers, they are always nice and full of information. Make sure to register to receive points towards discounts and download their app to keep track of the discounts before they expire. read more

I love the service here! The staff is super nice and they're knowledgeable in addressing any of your concerns. My boyfriend and I were fitted by Anna and she was able to get us to try a few shoes on. She was extremely helpful and was able to break down our foot scans and explain what we should aim to look for in shoes. Definitely would recommend making an appointment on the weekends if you want to get fitted! Also, can't wait to check out the other location in Sacramento. Went in 2 weeks ago to get fitted for shoes for long vacation in Asia. I informed the clerk that I was a size 10 womens, but she had me walk and measured my feet and said I was a 9 1/2 wide. I listened to her and paid full price for a pair of Hoka Bondi. They seemed comfortable enough since they were wide. One week into the trip and I'm probably going to lose my toenail from wearing too small shoes. It's bruised and blackened. Also have a giant blister on my right big toe from rubbing. *MY 500th YELP REVIEW!* :-) I started Orangetheory over a month ago and started experiencing some shin pain. My friend suggested I go to Fleet Feet to get some new shoes. I made an appointment for the fit ID 3D foot scanning. I chose the Elk Grove location since they're in a strip mall and parking is easier. Tyler helped me with the process and he was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly! I stood on the scanner which took 3D photos of my feet and then walked on the pressure plates so it could analyze how I walk. Based on that information, Tyler pulled 4 pairs of shoes for me to try. I also tried different insoles as well. I ended up selecting New Balances in wide because the scan said I have wide feet! They also provide support I need because my right foot has a higher arch. Overall, great experience and I'm happy with my purchase. I'd recommend the fit ID foot scanning process for anyone looking for new shoes, whether they be for the gym, outdoor running, or just walking. This Elk Grove Fleet Feet is half the size of the downtown Sacramento Fleet Feet but is closer to home & you can find free parking instead of dealing with the downtown metered parallel or diagonal parking. Wifey has had her feet sized & fitted for new kicks & had already ordered custom orthotics the end of last year. She bought a number of items that day that left her with sixty dollars worth of rewards that needed to be used within six months. She was told she had to use the rewards on merchandise not like gift cards which I thought she could do but no that's not case. She kept visiting downtown store & ultimately back to this store. Do not come here in the weekend as it's way too busy. In fact they only have one dressing room & wifey said some lady had to try on shoes inside there. So she gave up and left. It's a good thing she came back on Monday as there was only one customer inside the store. She tried on shorts & ended up trying them on twice & decided to purchase all three so using up the rewards was much easier than she thought! Yay for wifey having great success shopping here! My favorite running store! The staff are very knowledgeable about the products they sell and about running! Everything you need for running, they will have it. They carry many great brands, Lululemon, On Shoes, Nike, Saucony, Brooks, New Balance, Nathan, just to name a few. They also offer training for 5K's up to marathons. Made an appointment and when I went in I was helped immediately. Staff is very friendly and approachable. I was helped by Dan. Jeff was awesome in helping us find the perfect shoes for the needs of what we were going to use them for. I've always gone to the Sacramento location just out of habit and selection is much larger then this location. But figured give it a try and it's only down the street lol. They took measurements of our feet and seen where we leaned more etc. to me that stuff is kind of a gimic but maybe not lol. Regardless it told him the size of our feet. He took the time to look for selections in our size and in our needs. My husband was also getting shoes. I was able to find a pair I liked and bought a second pair that I was undecided on so I can try them both at home. My husbands shoe in the color he wanted wasn't available at that location but he was able to try a pair on in his size in a different color to see how it would fit. Jeff(hope I'm getting his name right) was able to order the color he wanted from the Sac location and have it shipped to this location for pick up. I love how friendly and personable he was in taking the time to help us and not feeling rushed or pushed into something we didn't need or want. Since I no longer have knees like "Meg Thee Stallion" and was diagnosed with knee issues, I was forced to invest in workout shoes that offered more than just swag. It was Saturday, around 3 pm and the place was full and all of the support staff were helping others. I waited a bit then one of the staffer told me I needed to add my name to the computerized wait list. Did that and was told they would ping me via text when it was my turn. I left for about 30 minutes and came back because I never got a ping and more customers were going in. Luckily I did, had I not, I probably would've continued to wait. Ironically someone called my name as I stood there upon entering. Now, on to the cool stuff, they have a 3- D scanner for your feet to assist in finding you the best shoe for working out. In my case, I needed to preserve my knees. Cole had a great personality and offered the best shoes to address my concerns. I ended up with some shoes that felt awesome on my feet. They weren't the most stylish but definitely felt like I was walking on clouds. The shoes weren't made by a familiar company, like Nike or New Balance, but they costs the same. So I went ahead a got them. Most of their shoe selection is for working out. If you are looking "cool" and have an image to maintain while getting fit, this might not be the spot. You are paying for guts and glory at this place. Your feet can look cute after your workout. Nonetheless, I am happy with my selection. Well how do I start this review. I wanted to get a specific pair of shoes and found online that Fleet Feet carried these shoes at the store. So I decided to stop my. Store is located in the same shopping center as the Costco in Elk Grove. When my husband and I walked in there were a couple of customers waiting and 3 customers being helped. I guess I should've known it was not going to be a good experience when walking in there was no acknowledgement from the staff - not even a "hello". Normally we would have walked right out of the store. But I really wanted to try on the On shoes so we decided to wait. Now we have waited maybe 20 minutes. A few more customers walk in and next thing I hear is a customer who came in well after I did ask one of the sales associates about getting help and was told oh let me add you to the waitlist". So I made my way to the register and asked if we needed to check in. She said yes and I said we have been waiting awhile. I pointed out who I was behind and indicated the customer she just added came in well after I did. My husband made a comment / suggestion that it might be a good idea to post a sign to inform customers about the need to check in to get help. Associate responds with "oh we are really short staffed today". She tells me I have been added. Ok, how should I feel? How would you feel? After that little incident, I noticed the associates all of a sudden started to acknowledge customers coming in asking them if they don't mind adding their name to the waitlist. More waiting - I understand it takes time since they provide a service of measuring your foot and check the arch to help pick the right shoe. But then when the 2 associates are talking and they look my way and whisper to each other next I know the one associate takes the customer who basically cut in line. Frustration now begins to build and irritation. If you plan to look my way at least come over and say something to me vs just look over whisper and then take the other customer. Ok maybe my fault for not knowing to check in. Then the sales associate proceeds to help another customer with something who came in well after me. My husband goes to ask them when we're next. One of the sales associate acknowledges we are next and she will be right over. When she finally makes her way over, I inform her I don't need my feet measured or scanned. I know the shoes I want and want to try them on for feeling before purchasing. She provides me information on the shoes and the differences. I inform her of my shoe size and the 2 shoes I'd like to try. She gets the shoes and then I am taken off to the side where I was sitting on a stool off to the side away from the main area - kind of felt like I was being punished and put in a corner. But I guess since the benches were all occupied even by a customer who was not being helped. So I guess I can't think too much into it but because of how the whole experience unfolded it just added to my irritation. I basically decided to buy a pair I tried on only because I really wanted the shoes. The associate who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable but at the same time seemed to be rushing a bit through my time. Hubby told me we should not have purchased after such a bad experience & we should not give the store our money and instead should have gone to another store where we probably would not have been treated like this. It is hard when you want to give money to independents but you get this type of experience and would prefer to go to the big box named stores. At this point, not sure if I will be returning to this store to purchase any shoes. May be a long time even with their incentive of buying so much you get a reward if you sign up. We'll really have to think twice. Need to really work on the customer service. read more

I was in a wheel chair the store had no customers and there were 3 staff, no one opened the door for us, no greetings, and they all looked at us like we were aliens. I was actually in shock with how they had technology to test your feet. To see how high your arch is, if you're flat footed, wide feet, etc. I liked how they inform me where most of my pain was directed. They help you find the perfect shoes! They hooked me up with Hoka's and soles and it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely will be returning to them to buy more shoes! They also moved locations. I was on a OOFOS shopping spree and so she introduced me to the Oocoozies made by OOFOS, OMG a must get! Live how big and spacious FF's new EG location is. Came in here today to get fitted for new running shoes. I was offered no help for the 15 minutes I was in there. An older Caucasian lady came in after me and was helped right away, so I decided to walk out. I would have been more patient and understanding had they just acknowledged my presence and informed me whether or not they were going to help me. I took my business to Dicks Sporting Goods and was able to try on two pairs of shoes in the same amount of time I wasted in Fleet Feet. OK, so I had this hike coming up with a group of friends earlier this month (Feb 2020) and I actually suffer from both genetically weak ankle support, but have also fractured/sprained/and everything else my right ankle in the past. Started the day @ Famous Footwear in Elk Grove, tried on a few pairs, undecided, then upon checking the price point, it would've been at least $70 for a pair. Asked wifey about her newest pair of athletic shoes and mentioned how Fleet Feet takes a digital scan of feet, while trying multiple pairs to discover the perfect pair individually. Usually, If I don't feel comfortable with whomever the sales person happens to be, then it makes for an uncomfortable experience. Well, Quinn with her bright pink hair, greeted wife & I promptly, asked very casually what I was looking for.... mentioned what was needed, what don't like in athletic shoes, need ankle support, etc. In roughly an hour, she had found a solid shoe match, we vibed perfectly for customer service, and most importantly, I felt at ease.
