I passed by the store sometimes on my way to various work activities and since I was a fan of the Red Wing Shoes and I needed a pay replaced I figured I could give this place a chance. This place looks pretty small driving past it I can assure you that this place is much bigger on the inside. It's usually dead inside from the times I've passed by it and why is it here was also dead. Which was good because I got helpedfrom the. right away. Staff here was friendly and accommodating. I came here to look at boots while I was visiting my family for the holidays and had a great experience even though I left empty handed. If you aren't familiar with Red Wing, just know that their products are usually priced high but the quality of their products is unmatched. This was my first time visiting a brick and mortal location and the employee working at the time (forgive e for not remembering her name!) was so helpful and knowledgable about everything it the store. I'm curious by nature so it was nice to hear about all the products in the store and what would work best for my situation. I definitely recommend coming here and don't be afraid to ask questions! Phenomenal staff. Whether you like Red Wings or not is besides the point. The fact of the matter is, if you're going to buy Red Wing boots, it's definitely worth your while to get them from this store. The staff is friendly, helpful, and best of all genuine. You can really tell their goal is to sell you what you're looking for and not just to make a sale. The customer service is above and beyond as well. I wear a particular boot that many stores, including this one, don't usually keep on hand. They were more than happy to track down a pair of the boots I wear and ship them to my house for free. This is where this store really goes above and beyond. The boots arrived at my door step 2 business days later, but ufortunately one of the boots had a manufacturer defect. When I brought the boots to this store to return them my experience was wonderfully painless. They took the boots back no questions asked, even though they were shipped to me from a store in Maryland. They then tracked down another pair of boots for me. This time before placing the order the sales person took the time to call the store that will be shipping out my boots and askes them to check each boot for defects before they mail them to my house. I decided to give Red Wing Shoes a try when I landed a kitchen job. I knew being on my feet all day (which my body was not used to) would be hard on me at first. My father only wears shoes from Red Wing due to his feet and he swore by them so I said ok why not. Luckily I came across this local location off of Ogden Avenue. I had to watch out for it though because I almost passed it. Ogden Avenue has EVERYTHING so it's easy to not know some stores even exist. It is a small store which is fine but they could have a happier staff. I just feel like the few times I walked in I did not get greeted and they just don't want to be there. They do have several styles for woman to pick from. I really wanted slide on shoes with no laces but they were all so uncomfortable. I picked out a pair with laces and they ran me $100.00. Well I have to say for awhile my feet were KILLING me after work and sometimes midway through my shift. I guess I had to adjust because all I could think was wow I paid $100.00 for these and I am dying. They FINALLY started to feel comfortable as time passed and I finally replaced the inserts with new ones. I am now adjusting to them. All in all I am happy with the final outcome. Good selection considering the size of the place. Price is high but I needed a pair of steel toes for work the next day and was running out of options. I called and they said they closed at 7 pm Monday through Thursday. I made my way over and the place was packed. The parking lot was not the best. It was hard to park because all the spaces were made for compact cars and two large company vehicles decided to pull across the spaces to park. I walked in and there were 4 customers and one sales clerk. She was a bit overwhelmed and didn't have the best customer service I've ever experienced but she pointed to me what I was looking for and bought out my size in a quick manner considering the amount of customers. I commented that the place was understaffed and she said a new person would be starting tomorrow to ease the burden on her. read more

My wife and I stopped by this ``Red Wing'' shoe store a few weeks ago and received excellent service from Richard O. (Sales Associate). Richard asked all the right questions (e.g., when would I be wearing the boots, preferred style, etc.). Thanks to his advice I found a pair of Red Wing light weight boots that are not only perfect for work but also with enough style that I can wear them out for a casual evening. Richard measured my feet with two types of devices (one for length, the other to determine the height of my arch). The second device determined that I have very high arches (I had been told that years ago). As a result, Richard recommended an orthotic. I found that the orthotic gave me a perfect fit. My wife found a very nice, colorful pair of ''Vasque'' walking shoes. She received the same excellent shoe fitting that I had. Neither one of us went through a ``break-in'' period with our new boots and shoes. We wore them out of the store and every day since. Richard also provided some excellent advice on caring for the boots/shoes. His other advice was to tie our laces in a slightly different way in order to ensure the laces will stay tied. Came to this location today because the Lombard location did not have the size I needed and the associate there called to put the shoes I needed on hold at the Downers Grove location. Walking in the store, was immediately greeted with a negative attitude. Told them I was sent from the Downers Grove location and they knew right away who I was but none of them moved to get the shoes (the store was empty of customers so the three associates there were doing nothing). Finally one lazy old guy told a guy named Anthony to get the shoes, and let me mention that this Anthony guy needs an attitude adjustment. Also the lazy old guy is a pervert. Store sold me junk boots that cost me more than $250. Stitching blew out all over. Rude sales clear told me I abused them, refused to replace them. Apparently riding a forklift is too much for $250 boots to bare. Told me the best they could do was send them out to POSSIBLY be repaired with a month turnaround time which means I would have to buy new boots. Why would I buy again from them after the first ones failed and they wouldn't honor their famous warranty? read more

Walked in to the store 5 minutes before closing to pick up some new shoes. My boyfriend actually drove me to the store as a surprise. I have to say I was extremely disappointed. The store closes at 7 and my boyfriend and I were ready to spend some serious money as he buys his boots for work from there, but the girl at the register let us know she's closed the registers already before even saying hi. It wasn't even 7 yet, but we were told to come back another day. Meanwhile, an older gentlemen walked out and said they'd reopen at 9 the next day. If you say you close at 7, then close at 7...not earlier than that and dismiss customers. Safe to say they will not be winning our business ever again. Excellent customer service! My husband bought a pair of Red Wing work boots a couple months ago. Just recently, our dog chewed on them and the tongue portion of one shoe was totally destroyed. We took them into the store to see if there was anything that could be done. The woman said that they could be fixed but it would cost more to ship them out and fix them than it would to just offer us a new pair. So we walked out of the store with a new pair of work boots for my husband and we couldn't be happier with the customer service. Have been buying boots from here for a long time!! Before RICHARD started working there. I've bought multiple pairs of Irish setter boots from this store. I've had a pair for 4 months today. The boot is suppose to be WATERPROOF. I brought my boots in because the moment I step in snow they leak. Richard rudely said it looks like I use them for work and they are hunting boots so they will not warranty them. Hmmm water proof but only suppose to be water proof for certain activities? He said that people always say you can work in them but your not suppose to!! Well he was the one that sold them to me 4 months ago for WORK!! I will not be buying shows from this store again and will be looking to try out different brands because of how rude and ignorant RICHARD was to me. read more
