I highly recommend Red Wedding to anyone who are looking for Chinese/ English bilingual MC/DJ. We met Steven and May seven months before our wedding and decided to have them as our MC/DJ right after the first meeting. They are very accommodating and flexible with every request that we asked for. Professional, efficient and more affordable than other bilingual MC/DJ that we looked at. Steven only speaks Cantonese and we needed a Mandarin speaking MC for my parents' relatives. He had another girl named Francis who speaks Mandarin to partner with him to ensure the guests understood what he said. Meeting with Steven and May in the months leading up to our wedding went well. They are very friendly and are able to offer suggestions as to the program of your wedding. Our MC's William and Manna were outstanding. We needed two MC's because we needed both Cantonese and Mandarin at our wedding. The crew arrived early to set up for our ceremony and were in constant communication without the entire night to make sure everything went off without a hitch. My wife and I felt like superstars when they were announcing our arrival into the Starlight room at Crew Hollow. The DJ played our requested music and was very good at alternating between fast and slow songs to set the mood. The Photo booth was an absolute hit! I remember seeing at one point the line stretching down halfway through the middle of our room (We had 200 guests so it was a big room). My wife and I were extremely busy the entire night but thankfully they left the photo booth open until we got a chance to use it at the VERY end of the night. They even provided a nice scrapbook of photos for us. The entire crew for our wedding was very professional, well dressed and did an excellent job. Our wedding reception at Jing Fong was a BLAST, thanks to May and Steven of Red Wedding! I'm so happy that we made the decision to go with them as our DJ and MC for one of the most important days of our lives. On the day of, Steven did an amazing job as MC/ coordinator - he guided us through our program with a fun attitude and an easy-going energy that immediately put the guests at ease. May put together a fantastic music mix that transitioned well from cocktail hour to tea ceremony to the reception dinner. She played all of our chosen songs on cue for the grand entrance, first dance and cake cutting, and helped serve the tea during the tea ceremony so that it all happened seamlessly. During our reception, our guests couldn't stop dancing, thanks to her party-starting mix. In our prep meetings, they were quite organized (with worksheets for us to fill out, and detailed notes on our preferences)... but more importantly, they were extremely good at listening to our needs to custom-make our program. I made a special request to start our wedding program earlier than Jing Fong normally allows private evening parties to begin. Since there would be another large party in the restaurant later on in the night, I wanted to get our party going early so that guests would already be in the flow of things by the time the other party began. Red Wedding made it happen for us - I'm so grateful that they were willing to work with Jing Fong to prep the space in time for our earlier-than-usual start. In the end, our guests danced til the restaurant closed out and there were smiles and laughter all around throughout the evening. Steven and May were great! Finding someone who speaks fluent Cantonese and English is a very hard thing to do. Finding someone who can do that and still incorporate a classy but fun atmosphere is almost impossible! We were glad to find that Steven and May could meet the challenge and make all of our guests happy. We had a conservative, older, Asian parent crowd mixed with our younger American college friends crowd. We were so worried that our dance floor would either be empty or too much of a night club. Steven was able to change the plan based on the mood of the crowd and nobody noticed when I ran behind schedule and was missing from the room for longer than expected. Omg.... the worst experience with the mc ever..... it is not for Chinese wedding.....I don't wanna say mc's name....she is Chinese, but she was the worst... my whole wedding was so quite, because she was like a rock!!! She didn't say much, and we have to told her to speak! Sooooo bad. Before we play the game, she didn't even say what was the prize, all the guests didn't know what to expect. she should have say what we prepared. What the hell, really piss me off. The thing is, i never meet this mc, the boss helped us through all the details, so I had no idea this came out to be a nightmare. I highly recommend Red Wedding. We hired this company for our wedding last month (April 2018) and they were a pleasure to work with from the moment I first contacted them until the very end of the wedding. I hired them particularly because I wanted a DJ/host that was bilingual in Cantonese and also because of their great reviews I read on various sites. From the first moment of contact, Steven was quick with his responses (he never took more than 1-2 days to reply to an email), and gave me price quotes right away. His prices are very reasonable. We had a daytime wedding and went with their gold package which was just perfect. We also used them to play the music during our ceremony as well. Additionally, we opted for their photo booth add-on which was also reasonably priced and a great addition to the reception. Immediately after the reception they gave us a scrap book with the photos of guests which the guests also signed, and they included a USB of all the photos from the photo booth. Throughout the process, Steven sets up 2-3 meetings, and has many documents that he asks you to fill out, which really helps organize the whole process. They also provide you with most popular songs requested that you could reference. Our DJ was May and she was just as amazing. Unfortunately, the whole day was a bit of a blur to me, but I know she played a lot of the songs that I requested to be played and I have heard from multiple guests that the music was just amazing and everyone had a blast, and I know that without this amazing combination of Steven and May, none of it would be possible. Okay, first let me say that I am so so so happy that I went with Red Wedding! Steven and May took their time to explain and lay out everything for us. They didn't try to oversell us on things we do not need either. I was definitely stressed about about planning the wedding and getting all the details right, but Steven and May put me right at ease. They are extremely friendly, and easy to work with through out the whole planning process. Now, the best part was, I was BLOWN away by how amazing the wedding turned out to be. First, let me brag about what an amazing DJ May is, I've been to a few weddings and I can say that by far, May is the best. Second, our MC Henry kicked the party into high gear and got even the toughest and oldest of my relatives onto the dance floor, now that takes SKILLS. Steven and Henry made sure we had all our concerns and questions answered prior to the wedding to make sure it flows seamlessly. Oh, lets not forget the awesome photobooth. Used red wedding for our dj and mc for my wedding. The whole process was smooth when we met, and signed for the contract. May and Steven were great, explain what they offer, and gave us the option to choose whichever. There was no pressure. Only thing we had concerns about was a $40 charge for transportation. That didn't really make sense to me. If you are providing a service, and ur facility is in Brooklyn, and our venue is in queens, that has nothing to do with me. Why should I be charged an extra $40 for transportation of your equipment to the venue. And this was not stated in the contract, it was brought up towards the end of the contract which was added in, and due to time issues, we paid it instead of looking for another vendor. Another issue which occured during our last meeting was providing food for the individuals which were gonna b there. That was a kind of a shock to me. A request was made for food allowance as well which was a shocker. They were allowed to eat the food provided at the venue, but it was a 1st for a vendor to ask for food $$. It woulda been more understandable if for example, the photographer snd videographer was with us the whole day and didnt get a chance to eat, but it was only a 5 hr job. Very shocking. Unfortunately May and Steven was not our MC & DJ, due to we needed some1 who spoke Mando. But that's okay, they had another individual name James as the MC. The meetings we had were great, steven was helpful in bringing together a rundown of the night. We didn't get to meet james til the day of the event. Nice guy, and helpful as well. Only draw back was the crowd was not into it that night. I felt he didnt do a great job getting the crowd into the party. There was no energy from the MC to get the crowd more involved to dance and everything. Majority of the ppl said they didn't really noe wat was going on. There was a lot of mumbling which made things unclear and half the time No1 understood wat he was saying. The only hit would be the games which they got together for us. Our wedding was on May 18. Red Wedding was recommended to us by our decorator and we are so glad she did. Steven was our MC and May was the DJ. They are both really fantastic at their work!! They are so nice, helpful and accommodating. We really enjoyed working with them. They listened to all the ideas we had and they organized everything amazingly in a short amount of time. We used Red Wedding for our wedding reception, and were quite pleased. They were kind, professional, and accommodating. Our wedding was a combined Chinese and American style wedding, and our MC handled the translation aspect very well. The music, dancing, and games were all huge hits. The games especially were quite entertaining and unique. Everything went flawlessly and our guests were impressed and loved every minute of it. Some told us that it was the best wedding that they had ever been to--one went so far as to say that it was the best EVENT he'd ever been to. Steven and May are an incredible team! We had our wedding on 5/31/14 and we were so happy with Red Wedding. We found them a year prior to our wedding and Steven and May were so accommodating and organized. Even though we had so much time between our meetings we never felt like we were left hanging. They answered emails promptly and were super helpful with great suggestions to make sure our night went smoothly and the guests had fun. We met with other MC/DJs who were trying to tell us what we should do for our wedding, but Steven and May listened to us and did everything we asked. For example, during the cocktail hour of the wedding, we wanted to practice our first dance and Steven and May said sure no problem and played the song for us. We told him last minute that we wanted the song to end at a certain move instead of the end of the song and he said sure no problem. They never got mad at us for any last minute requests! What's even better is they gave discounts and were much more affordable than the other bilingual MC/DJ companies. They are super conscious of our budget to make sure he didn't offer something that was beyond our reach. We even got the photobooth with Red Wedding and our guests LOVED it. So many awesome props! Many of our guests commented on how well Steven transitioned between English and Cantonese and they were so impressed with his skills. I especially loved how May just put on her beats headphone and DJ'd the whole night! Steven and May... Are amazing. They are so professional and just.. Amazing. They were basically our wedding planner. Helped us figure out our whole schedule for day of wedding! We met up with a few alrdy and still no luck. We were looking for someone that can speak both english and cantonese. Steven (MC) and his wife May (DJ) did a great job at my wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course in Brooklyn. Even though they're based in Queens, they were nice enough to have our preliminary meetings in Chinatown, which was convenient for me. We met three times before the wedding to go over the details including songs, family names, games, etc. At my wedding, Steven was energetic the entire evening and entertaining. May's song selection was awesome, too. One of my friends loved the music so much, he asked me if I picked the songs. I couldn't take all the credit because I only selected a few. May was the one with the great ear and knew to play a mix of genres for my guests (some were older). Steven took the time to keep me up-to-date on the evening's schedule and was flexible enough to make last minute changes. Overall, I was really happy with the service. Red Weddings were professional, had great sound and lighting equipment, and made sure my wedding was fun. Their prices were also pretty reasonable, so that's a plus. read more
