Our wedding will go down as the most memorable night of our lives, and that is in no small part thanks to our excellent DJ, Ben Coleman from Remixologists, aka DJ Benja Styles. I'm not exaggerating when I say that once we opened the dance floor during our reception, it was packed for the entirety of the night with excited guests from many generations singing and dancing along to his impeccable set from start to finish. Ben impressed us so much with his attention to detail, responding directly to how our guests reacted to each track, seamlessly transitioning to the next, feeding into the vibe while still surprising us with exciting twists and turns. As emcee for the night, Ben couldn't have been more professional. His announcements were clear, even the difficult names were pronounced perfectly, and every music cue during our cocktail hour, ceremony, cake cutting, and reception was perfectly timed. Ben provided us with very easy-to-follow instructions to help him shape our night. His communication with us was crystal clear; we knew exactly what he needed, and we trusted him to carry it out. We met with him a few times over Zoom in the year leading up to the wedding, and he worked directly with our wedding planner, who recommended him, nailing every detail and request made along the way. I was never once worried or anxious about our decision to work with Ben and Remixologists, as it was very clear he understood exactly what we were looking for, and he was friendly and confident throughout the entire process. We worked with DJ Lee, and he was absolutely spectacular! He really kept the dance floor going ALL night long that we didn't want the night to end! DJ Benja Styles, Barb and the entire crew at The Remixologists delivered everything they promised and more than I knew I needed. Let's start with the most important part... the music. During the booking process (which was extremely easy and user friendly) I was asked for a bit of background on my relationship to music. This question felt purposeful to me... and I believe it was used to help match me to the appropriate fit for the big day. They matched me up with DJ Benja Styles and couldn't have been more spot on. We did an intro zoom call so that DJ Ben and I could chat about musical tastes, desired vibes for the evening and just get to know each other a bit. I think what struck me most was a feeling of comfort that Ben truly understood the eclectic musical tastes of myself, my wife and our guests. Everything from Rage Against the Machine to K-Pop, Frank Sinatra to Wu-Tang, and everything in between. He understood the assignment, and he proved that at the party! He knew the exact song to play at the exact moment, I don't think I've ever seen a DJ with more skill for reading a room. I was originally on the fence about live band vs DJ. I really like to hear the recorded versions of my favorite songs on the dancefloor... but cannot deny the energy a live band brings to a party. Luckily The Remixologists have a solution for that! We decided to add Barb Duncan who is an INCREDIBLE drummer to the set up. Barb played along with the songs while Ben spun... and it added SO MUCH energy to the night!! I think the amazing thing about how well Barb played, is that she performed enough for you to feel her presence, with perfectly timed syncopated rhythms... but not so much to overshadow the songs. She knew to dial it back on certain songs or let it rip on others... and our guests were raving about the sound! I highly recommend going this route for a unique experience, especially if your playlist is heavy with rock and hip hop! The dance floor was like an explosion of amazing energy (I posted some pics to prove it)... and just when you thought they were gonna let up and slow things down a bit... the party just kept intensifying. This was per my request... we didn't want any dull moments. I will NEVER forget that night, and there are so many core memories I have because of the work that Ben and Barb did. It was absolutely perfect. My friends and family still talk about what an amazing party it was. As far as the overall experience outside of the music.. the communication was ON POINT. Their use of Basecamp to share important spreadsheets and documents was super helpful in keeping organized and making sure that no details were missed. I became so fixated on detailing the playlists that I forgot we actually needed to think logistics... timelines for speeches and key moments, names of the bridal party and family members for announcements, song clips for curated moments... we even had a few games played throughout the night the Ben expertly MC'd for us! My head was spinning at the amount of things we needed to keep track of but Ben is a PROFESSIONAL. This clearly was not his first rodeo and he knew exactly how to guide us through the process and how to keep the evening moving along smoothly. He worked in tandem with our wedding planner and coordinator and we had no worries on the big day. The Remixologists are NEXT LEVEL. We had Ben as our DJ who comes from many years experience playing at some of the biggest clubs in NYC. And he absolutely did not disappoint. Music at a wedding is crucial for the party so this is where you need to invest. Choosing Ben is the best investment you will do. Not only will he play all of your hit songs and then some but properly reads the room and properly mixes new school with old school which keeps EVERYONE on the dance floor. PLUS, we invested in a saxaphone player and drummer for the cherry on top of every song. THIS WAS INCREDIBLE AND WORTH EVERY PENNY. If you can, request Barb the drummer - you think you're cool and talented until you see Barb in action. We did not leave the dance floor once. Prior to the wedding day, Ben was available for any questions we had at any point. They also have a program that you can use to be in constant contact with your DJ if needed. We chose to have Remixologists for our Brooklyn, NY wedding in early May and I can't say enough good things about them and specifically Ben (DJ Benjastyles). We decided early on in our more-than-year-long wedding planning to use Remixologists after listening to a few sample playlists that we absolutely loved. Throughout the entire process working with them as a vendor, Ben was extremely responsive and organized and often gave us advice or suggestions based on his past experiences that truly contributed to the incredible success of the wedding celebration. My wife and I, collectively, have a very wide array of musical interests from instrumental metal music, to post rock, to disco, to R&B for which Ben was extremely accommodating and incredibly capable of incorporating into our evening--from the Explosions in the Sky song to accompany the wedding party processional to the Beegees, Queen, Nelly, and Various 90s hits that created the best dance party we could've hoped for. David Cruz, part of Remixologists DJs, has been an absolute wonder. Our wedding would not have gone nearly as smoothly or been as fun without him. My friends advised me that the two most important things for a wedding are the music and the food. A good DJ will set the atmosphere, coordinate the other scheduled events for the night, and adjust the music to the crowd's energy in real-time. David went above and beyond. He helped us organize our wedding night timeline (grand entrance, first dance, toasts, announcing different events like cake cutting and lion dancing). He also helped set up a speaker/mic system for our outdoor string quartet (additional fee). From our initial meeting, David was fully prepared for any and all questions. He is super flexible and accommodating with last-minute changes and has been invaluable for bouncing ideas off (e.g., how past weddings have decided to do things). I've never had experience planning such a large (230-person) event before, and David's extensive experience was invaluable. David is excellent at understanding what we wanted and when we weren't sure, he was great at suggesting options and offering solutions or alternatives. He got back to us almost immediately whenever we reached out for questions and was also happy to link up through Zoom when we needed a quick brainstorming session with him. To reference his music skills in particular: My music genre tastes differed from my husband's. We also wanted to ensure the older crowd felt included with some music from older generations. In addition, we wanted our friends to dance and have fun with primarily pop music from 2000-2015. Despite these challenges, David created a fantastic music set. He knew how to keep the dancing going and when to let the crowd chill during the wedding night. During the wedding day, there were some last-minute changes to the schedule (additional toast speakers). He readjusted the schedule with our maître d' and ensured smooth transitions between the events. Calvin and I received compliments from guests on the music even before the night was over! Oh my gosh Simon (DJ Taiga) absolutely ROCKED our wedding!!!! My husband and I had sooooo much fun dancing and singing and we truly had the most perfect day and night. DJ Mike was the first and only DJ we met with. Mike came up from Philly to meet with us in Midtown to talk about our NJ based wedding (three states in one sentence!) The instant Perry and I met him, we felt like we'd be friends with him - he instantly got our sense of musical taste, wedding style, budget, and personalities. He had DJed plenty of weddings like ours (very cross generational, cross cultural, and stiff Asian families who don't dance much). Mike was the easiest of our vendors to work with - he's direct, crystal clear, and responsive. He's pretty understanding and flexible, and in addition, he's affordable!! If you look at their site, all three of the Remixologists DJ for clubs and they're all professional without being cliche. Their contract is solid and they're genuinely nice and smart guys to work with. The day of, everything was set up right, the music played in order, and he was fabulous about following the subtle clues I shot his way to end a song or begin. My wife and I could not have been happier with Remixologists. We had the pleasure of working with DJ Lee. He made the entire process very simple and seamless. The use of the online portal to exchange and organize information (wedding party names, timeline, music choices, etc) made things very easy. DJ Lee was also very helpful in providing some example introduction songs, which we were a little unsure of going into it. Payment was a breeze. They made the payment schedule very clear from the get go, and being able to pay via PayPal and Venmo was super helpful. As we got closer to the big day, we had a great call to just review everything and make sure we were on the same page. He also provided his mobile number so we could text back and forth for any remaining things (last minute song requests, etc) over the last few days. The day of, DJ Lee was a consumate professional. He did a great job staying in communication with the venue and the both of us (our request). He also helped us figure out when/how to do 2 last minute huge cousin pictures. The music was perfect. Our main priority was having a non-stop dance party, and DJ Lee delivered in spades. Seriously, my mom and all my aunts were grooving and shaking even before the salads were served. We had the pleasure of having Lee DJ our wedding in October and he was outstanding! Leading up to the wedding, we spoke to Lee a few times so he could get a sense of the style we were looking for. A week or so before the wedding, Lee went through each and every detail with us to make sure he captured what we wanted on our day. Many of the details were things we hadn't even considered! We wanted to maximize the amount of dancing at our wedding and Lee provided some suggestions around how we could best structure our day-of timeline. He was always very professional and we appreciated his flexibility when we had to change our timeline last minute due to some confusion with our venue. Day of, Lee arrived early to meet us and prep our ceremony and reception set ups. We had full confidence that he had everything under control which is a real blessing on such a busy day! All of our dances went off exactly as we had hoped and we and our guests had a blast dancing the night away! We received so many compliments from our guests and heard multiple times that they had never attended a wedding with so much dancing! A few even asked us for his contact information to pass along. We were fortunate that our music style aligned well with Lee's own taste (indie rock and pop as opposed to more traditional wedding tunes), though he really took the time to listen and understand our interests so I'm sure he would have no trouble tailoring the music to any interests. My sister hired DJ Taiga for her wedding five years ago and all I remember from that was how much fun I had on the dance floor. So when it came around to my wedding, he was no doubt the only DJ I had considered hiring. Despite DJ Taiga being based in the East Coast, and with my wedding in California, he made the whole process so easy. He was always quick to respond via email, was super easy to work with to build our perfect playlist, and even took care of renting equipment from a local company. When my wedding rolled around, DJ Taiga kept the dance floor packed up until midnight. So many friends complimented me on what a sick DJ he was and how they loved all the music he played - some even told me they wanted to hire him for their weddings. My in-laws wanted to sing a family song during dinner and Simon took such good care of them to make sure it went smoothly. We worked with Luke (DJ CoolHand) and he was absolutely amazing! I found a few songs on YouTube with specific arrangements for him to play and he made it so easy. We also had him for our ceremony and the cocktail hour and he understood what we wanted from the beginning. He was so helpful with choosing the right songs for the night and the party was lit. We had our wedding about 2 months ago as NYC was starting to open... and I have to say it was super easy to work with the team and they made sure everything was done right! The Remixologists know how to do weddings. Not just the event itself, but the scheduling (and rescheduling due to COVID), coordination, responsiveness, etc. - they truly have it all. "Coolhand" Luke was our DJ for our wedding and he was the real deal. First and foremost, his professionalism was top notch, his announcements were clear and paired well with the songs, and his pronunciations were on point. When it was time for him to shine when it was time to dance, he did just that. Coolhand's transitions from song to song were what you'd expect from a top DJ, and his ability to read the room came naturally. My wife and I are already receiving inquiries about Coolhand for their own festivities and he also paired incredibly well with a saxophonist for the reception despite never having worked with him before. We found Remixologists through a friend and were very pleased. Our DJ was Lee Garrett (DJ L'gitt) and the guy was legit. Logistically from start to finish, Simon and Lee Garrett were professional, responsive and accommodating especially during Covid. We had to postpone our wedding by 6 months and thankfully they had availability and willingly worked with us on the changes. We had a few virtual meetings with Lee for introductions and getting a feel for one another and to finalize details as the day approached. We could tell he is a master at his craft and a bonus, a great MC. He really is a two in one so don't bother wasting money on getting an MC. Lee was very receptive to our requests for songs and wedding day asks. Everything was on point in terms of timing and song selections. We weren't too picky with music and also wanted him to have space to show off his taste and experience in music and he didn't disappoint. Definitely recommend. Money well spent. read more

Hiring DJ Taiga Will Be The Best Wedding-Related Decision You Make. Full stop. I have run out of words to describe to family and friends how much we loved having DJ Taiga spin for our wedding in November 2017 in the Catskills. By the middle of the party, I had lost track of how many people grabbed me, just to say, "Your DJ is amazing!" Taiga possesses an uncanny ability to get everyone up and dancing, and keep them dancing for song . . . after song . . . after song. The only complaint you may get from your guests is that they won't be able to find time, amidst the feverish dancing, to go to the bar and get a drink. From a practical perspective, Taiga was an absolute pleasure to work with, from the day we hired him until the time the party concluded. He is incredibly organized, polished, and professional, and always makes you feel comfortable that he is on top of everything. Taiga even designed a custom mix for our "hora" (traditional Jewish wedding dance) that had the entire guest list squeezed onto the dance floor for 13 and -a-half minutes. He stepped in seamlessly on the day of the wedding, and took control of the ceremony and the party in just the way that we needed. We cannot recommend Taiga enough, and can't wait to figure out the next time we can host a party just so that we can hear Taiga spin again. Hiring him is an absolute no-brainer. read more

If I could give 10 stars to the Remixologists (and DJ Ben), I would. The Remixologists are not your standard "wedding DJ" - they are so much more. My top priority for the night (besides getting married) was to dance for 4+ hours on the dance floor...and DJ Ben totally delivered. He didn't blink when I showed him 50+ songs from the 80s and 90s that I wanted mixed in and he blended each song beautifully so that there was no dead time and each song just cruised into the next. He placed beats in older songs that I LOVE but aren't as immediately dance-able and they were subtle enough that the original song shined through, but kept everyone up out of their seats and grooving. The professionalism of the whole crew is also unparalleled. The DJ we originally booked was accepted into a musical grad school program about 8 months out from our wedding, and Simon reached out to us immediately with a solution, offering the amazing services of DJ Ben and organizing a FaceTime chat so we could meet DJ Ben and chat about styles and preferences. Simon and Ben were always quickly responsive with any questions we had and we felt completely taken care of and excited for the big day. On the day of, DJ Ben showed up completely prepared and professional - setting our officiant up with his mic, double-checking who was giving speeches so he could go over a quick rundown of the order with them, and absolutely NAILING the timing for our processional/recessional music. As soon as we sat down for dinner I was already dancing in my seat, ready to get up and start the party. I wish I had another excuse to book the Remixologists - my friends and family are still raving about the playlist and I'm still reliving all of the dance circles and conga lines from that evening.
