There are so many great shops on E Madison, and this one is really stand out. European imports, vintage items and one of a kind hand-made creations stopped me in my tracks. Here, in this small boutique, Madison Valley takes a sharp turn toward East Hampton. Ralph Lauren himself would jaw drop from all of the red and blue striped fabrics, hand-thrown bowls and french oyster baskets. Not to mention, it's a food-bloggers paradise. My partner and I wandered into Red Ticking today to be greeted warmly by Pam, the owner. She has a wonderful selection of eye catching textiles and table-wears that would add warmth and excitement to anyone's home. Pam needed a little help moving some larger items around in the store, and for our assistance she gifted us a lovely black jasmine hand soap we will be reserving for our guests. What a treat to have such a beautiful store less than one mile from my home, Not only is the store simply amazing (always finding treasures)- Pamela Robinson (the store's owner) is a wonderful interior designer. She is very easy to work with and really gets it. She helped us remodel and design our home. it is the perfect mix of design and comfort. This is the store with all the great stuff!! I first saw Red Ticking in a few magazines, then went it to browse. I met the owner, who graciously told me about the ins and outs of becoming a shop owner (I spoke with her about opening up a store of my own). She was extrememly nice. And her shop was a great reflection of her talent. The pillows and fabrics from France are wonderful. She puts alot of detail and variety in a small space. I recommend it to everyone for inspiration or those special gifts. read more

Too bad the owner of this store is so unpleasant! I am an Interior Designer & personal assistant. I went in this store looking for specifics for my clients. The owner could hardly bother to greet me or even pretend like she wanted to help. It was a royal disaster when some water from her display spilled onto her ridiculously priced pillow beneath it. I offered to have the pillow dry cleaned, but was snubbed & told no. I would have even purchased the item if I was treated decently. It seems the owner of The Red Ticking would like to portray a French feeling down to the stereotypical snobby attitude! Good Luck in this economy! read more

i just received a pair of custom lamps from Red Ticking in the mail this week and boy do they belong in my home. i have to say they were a bit more than i usually would pay, but worth every penny and then some. they are "shockingly" original and the lamp shades that came with them are so incredible that now i want to have her start a project for all my other lamps. its amazing, the shade makes the lamp and it is very difficult to find quality shades with vintage fabrics..all hand stitched. i wanted to say that the owner of this shop was so generous and offered a payment plan that worked for both of us as i was not in a position to belly up all the cash up front. the day she rcvd my last payment those lamps were in the mail and arrived in San Francisco 2 days later. great customer service. she also carries the matteo bedding line. i moved to SF from NYC and was having a hard time finding a local source for Meteo. I found out that red ticking carried this line and am now in linen heaven. i look forward to changing me sheets (3 sets now) and crawling in bed every night. you have no idea what luxury is until you sleep with Matteo linens. I have the 100% linen sheets and the 100% cotton. these are also a steep investment, but no regrets and the owner worked a little magic again. the last point i wanted to make was that the owner is the salt of the earth, with a taste level that is out of this world. her sensibility and approachability have made every phone conversation and visit a meaningful experience. whether you have tons to spend or on a budget, she has something for everyone and if not, she is just great to visit with and talk shop. cheers to this little piece of heaven on earth. read more

The items in this shop are beautiful. It is obvious the owner has impeccable taste for quality goods. However, I've been to this shop 4 times over the last 7 years and each time have left frustrated. Most items are not priced and those that are priced are exceedingly overpriced. The high prices could be tolerable if the customer service was outstanding. But, each time I've visited the shop the customer service has been severely lacking or non-existant. I've tried to like this shop but I've given up. Four visits is enough for me. I don't know how this proprietor stays in business. read more
