Review of the Kiddo Play Area: So this pandemic thing is really taking a toll on things, and well,…read morewe have been to basically every open air playground around the Greenwood/Broadview/Carkeek area... except we realized that we haven't been to the one behind the PNA. So on a cold, non-rainy day, we took the kiddo there to see if it was any good. Keep in mind that it's reserved for the preschool during the week/business hours, but on the weekend, it was a nice change of scenery. They had a few play structures, on a mulch and rubberized area. Sure, parental guidance is required, and you really should have a "toddler" kiddo here... but for the kiddo, she enjoyed the slides, the "kitchen" and the tires. She being the expert of walking on narrow surfaces, I think enjoyed the areas like a balance beam master in training. If you have been everywhere, and you want a playground that is a nice scenery change, here's one more to add to the list. Also, nearby is Red Mill Burger, so there's that you could be eating, while your kiddo is playing to their heart's delight.

Spacecraft is a wonderful crafting shop on Capitol Hill. The shop is brand new and dedicated to…read moreproviding space and supplies required for a HUGE variety of DIY projects. Spacecraft fills a big void in a day and age where people have less space at home to invest in their creative endeavors. You can see that the ownership has a great sense of pride in this shop, every little detail makes the space cozy and inviting. In addition to providing a launch pad for a variety of independent projects, Spacecraft is also hosting workshops led by experienced artists and crafters. It is so amazing to see a store like this pop-up in the "New Seattle era," one that encourages the exploration our individual creativity while also fostering community. Our VYEE instructor was Kellie, the enthusiastic and passionate owner of The Works in Seattle (2/11/21). I signed up thinking ahead for something fun to look forward to. After my recent past two weeks, this event was so welcomed! I'm always curious how artists and craftspeople create unique items and are able to establish a vibrant indie business too. I've taken other similar classes that allows for creativity and a timeout from the day-to-day. The vibe that Jennifer and Kellie created during this hour session, and seeing others with their custom, handmade bath bombs...this was a much needed and appreciated this evening. I ordered my kit on 2/8/21 intended to pick it up in person. And of course, life interfered. But the folks at The Works worked their magic, kindly got it in the mail, and I received it day of the event. Lovely packaging. Makes a great gift! Techniques are freely shared and allowed for further creativity with additional tips from Kellie and other Yelp Elites participating. I listened intently, took copious notes, and took screenshots. Inside the Bath Bombs Kit are all the items needed, including an instruction booklet, and video link to watch later for reference. Other items needed and not included are a mixing bowl, fork, 1 Tablespoon measuring spoon, and up to 3T water. After giving this process a whirl, (makes about 4 bath bombs from the kit) the choices and combos one can continue to create are infinite! Made the Axis the venue for our daughter's wedding. The space worked very well for our 130 guests…read more Reception area, Ceremony, dinner, dancing. This area of Seattle has been cleaned up ( thanks to the new mayor) but still not like a winery wedding. Some homeless yelling at people walking past. The ally was rented but not used. The lighting and tables were not inviting out there. All in all, a good setting for our family to celebrate!

Equinox Studio had an Open House for Xmas presents. I enjoyed seeing the numerous Artists, Metal…read moreworks, Iron Art for Burning Man. I saw Nobi and The Force perform too. They were at the Summer Open House too. There are more Artists here than in Pioneer Sqr's Artwalk here in Georgetown. They got some crowds but more people go to Pioneer Sqr monthly. There were a few Food Teucks there. They had two Bonfires. But at least it was not rainy hard to watch the Live Entertainment.

For three years in a row I've been checking out Equinox Studios for their massive holiday party…read more While the various studios here are open all throughout the year, the holiday party is a big open house designed at showing off nearly all of the artist's spaces while hosting art fans from around the city. There's live music, wine, beer, food and of course art, in tons of mediums! The studio spaces run from teeny tiny to generous and straight up huge! Some spaces are ideal for woodworking and even metalworks while others (upstairs) are quieter and better suited for painters, sculptors and so on. If I could get back into painting again, I'd definitely want to rent a studio here. Not only does the art community seem really tight knit in Georgetown, it's also just a really peaceful and creative space to hang out.

He made the whole process a blast, walking us through each step with energy and enthusiasm that kept things fun and easy to follow. Even while assisting multiple guests at once, he made sure we always felt supported and never left waiting. Once you're familiar with the process, you'll select a vessel and explore 30+ scent options displayed along a scent wall. The team helps you discover which fragrances blend well together to create your ideal combination. This is where Mikey's expertise really shined! He suggested scents I hadn't considered, and they worked beautifully with my favorite scents. After creating your perfect scent ratio, the oils are blended into wax, and left to set for 2-3 hours. Prices were comparable to other handmade candles you find at farmers markets, plus ELM uses a coconut apricot wax. Be sure to book a reservation, they fill up quick!

I know Elm Candle through work and remembered some of my work colleagues coming here to do a team bonding event. My girl friend was turning 30 and said she would be doing a birthday activity here! Our scent specialist, Mikey was super helpful! They had everything prepared for our ladies to partake in the session and the instructions were on the card which was super cute since it also had a 'Thank You' at the back in support of their small business. You put your name and select which item you want to make. I chose a room spray since I have SO MANY candles at home! Mikey had us choose which container (room spray only had one kind) but candles had a variety. I wanted to make the reed diffuser initially but they were sold out! Next, they had a variety of scents on the wall so you could write those on your card and star your faves! Coffee beans were provided to help with your nose since you smell so many scents! Mikey was so patient with all of us and walked us through the process! I was super pleased with my scents. He evaluated each of our cards, asked us what kinds of scents we are into, and then gathered 3-4 essential oils to smell -- you can mix and match. You can omit one or add another depending on your preferences. We left with cute little bags! It was such a wonderful experience! It's a little pricey but definitely worth it.

If you know downtown Seattle, then be prepared to give yourself extra time to find on street parking or a lot that's not full. Use transit if you can!

It allows for local artists to grow and collaborate with one another. The Fishbowl is also the finding group for the Uptown artwalk. The space has been so welcoming and I love coming here to meet with other artists! I've made some great friends! I highly recommend checking out the space wether your looking for a studio or just looking to hang out with other artists!
