A rad midcentury table, recently restored by Madsen Modern, has taken up residence in my dining room.

A happy repeat customer. I bought the most beautiful table earlier this year from Madsen Modern, and used them for some restoration work. They were fantastic experiences! I've bought furniture from 5 or 6 different dealers in the Seattle area this year, and I have been super satisfied with the experience with Madsen. I called in and set up a time to come by their workshop - I was looking for a dining table and hutch. They have some furniture that is ready to go out the door, and a lot more that hasn't been restored yet: if you choose and buy an item, they'll restore it and you'll get in a few weeks. I went with the latter route: they took a generous amount of time showing me their inventory, including demonstrating how each table extended or stored its leaves, and pointing out any areas that they would repair or restore if necessary. I ultimately chose a table that I wouldn't have chosen on my own if they hadn't taken the time to expand my horizons. They turned around the restored table within a few weeks. The end product is PERFECT. The finish is period-appropriate and pristine, the wood's natural beauty is on display, and it looks incredible. The table opens smoothly and easily. They did such quality work, and I'm so in love with it. I didn't find a hutch, but at my request they've been reaching out to let me know when they get a new one in in the style I've described, so maybe I'll end up with a hutch from Madsen as well. Most recently, I've brought in some of my own furniture for restoration. They described the restoration options and their respective prices, and we discussed which options would give the best result while staying in my budget. Exactly what I wanted, and I'm very happy. I have a couple of more pieces that I plan to have them work on at some point in the future as my budget allows. They've been communicative each time I've done business with them, and can't really find a fault. A recommended local family-owned business!

They said its 16 inches from the floor to the top of the seat cushion. It's only 14.5.

This review is focused primarily on the Exhibit Coffee shop within this larger business…read more The shop is small but mighty. First, they have the best weekend hours in the area. I desperately needed a fresh coffee in the late afternoon on a Sunday and this was the only place open. Little did I know how lucky I was! They use Fulcrum coffee so you know it's legit. The customer service was amazing and ridiculously friendly. The barista really seemed to enjoy the work they were doing... more than just making coffee and punching the clock. The flavor was bold and smooth. The barista even proactively place one single ice cube in my drink to make it easier to sip from the onset. High quality service and keen attention to detail, indeed. Check it out! Prices are very fair and the setting is incredibly unique. The service will provide an excellent experience and then you can stay to browse the museum treasures for a while. Enjoy!

And THIS IS MY KIND OF PLACE this feels like Monica's apartment on Friends. Pop of colors here and there, truly a work of art every corner I turned. I mean, the dog's having a nicer Sunday than most of mine. Definitely a true gem of Pioneer Square.

Sun May is one of those tchotchkes, knick-knacks, cutesy, maybe useful, and antique places that words can hardly describe. It is very small but well-stocked nonetheless. Connie is the proprietor who is cheerful to all who enters; her family has kept this shop going for generations. Even though she is open for only two(?) days a week, shoppers just know to come visit. It's almost legendary. Her regular visitors sit on the stool shooting the breeze with her while the rest of us trip on that same stool when it is vacant. It is a habitual thing that we just know will happen. The paper cranes outside and inside commemorate Donnie Chin, whose murder is not yet solved. Though I am not a regular shopper, it is always a pleasure to see what I can discover there. Being the start of lunar new year, Connie had horse themed cute items on hand. We selected a colorful horse and a ceramic ram for next year. Prices are reasonable. Come, shop, or just say a hello, Connie will welcome you.
