This small hidden shop is great for exploring the dark side of estate sale treasures. Bones, teeth, biological models and books, dolls, artwork, funerary tools, jewelry, antique photographs, taxidermy, and more!

Mudlark Oddities is one of the weirdest, most macabre, wonderful shops in western Washington! Located in Seattle, this is a must-visit store for anyone that likes the strange and unusual. Taxidermy, bones, antiques, creepy stuff and more, galore! They also host a monthly "Morbid Market" where you can meet fellow goths and weirdos, get your tarot cards read, buy curious art and nab vintage finds. In a world where everything is mass produced and Amazon-ed, this is one of the few places you can find something completely unique and one of a kind. I highly recommend checking it out! (May not be suitable for easily frightened or skittish kiddos though; I'd probably keep it to kids over 8 years old.)

According to wikipedia, a mudlark is someone who scavenges in river mud for items of value. Thanks to the owner of this wonderful store, you don't need to get dirty to find something cool and unique and of value. At Mudlark Oddities, you can find sculls, old photographs, taxidermy, live leaches, animal bones, books, lots of vials, etc. They also have a very old skeleton named Otto in the middle of the shop.

I love oddity shops. I do. There's so much to look at, from a human skeleton in a coffin from 1870 to a stuffed dancing possum. Could walk around in here for hours.

    So many skulls.

One of the best oddity shops we saw when visiting the Seattle area! Friendly staff. Great selection and art show in the back!

Epic is the antique market that is the building next to the market. I always find good deals and new rings from one of the merchants. The antique market is the usual treasure, give yourself at least an hour to explore all the options. Housewares, outdoor things, and too much to describe. Perhaps Epic will let me do a video walkthrough at some point. Put this market on your calendar, the second Saturday of every month. One more great reason to celebrate living in Seattle. #ShopLocal #shopsmall

I had just come from the Lake Union Saturday Market and compared to the music, amount of vendors, and food trucks there, SODO was quiet and smaller. This one wraps around the antique shop but there was room for three food trucks and a small strip of vendors. There were a lot of people selling re-thrifted clothes. Looked like there were a few gems but you may need to do some digging around, and at that point I may just do my own thrifting. Of course like with any market there are a few quality things worth coming for. I saw a few hanging crystal decorations with moons and stars and I would love to gift one to my niece. The handmade jewelry selections were super cute and very nice quality. There are some of the same looking stuff throughout vendors though so really walk the tents through before making a purchase.
