We were not disappointed with Red Sake. We decided to give this a try today. Their sushi were deliciously made reminding me of traditional sushi in Japan. The fishes were of good quality. We love the bluefin tartare served with delicately fried lotus as chips. We tried variety of rolls and they were all spot on. My favorite is the Amakusa sushi roll. Another family favorites are the Yamagata and Spicy yellowtail. If you are not keen on sushi, thru have great Mongolian beef and Singapore noodles. The ambiance is nice. Service was great. Went here once in person and thought it was fine albeit pricy (and with a menu all over the place). Have ordered delivery a few times since and this last order will be last time. Not only are their prices ridiculous for the quality ($30 on average for their "specialty" rolls) but even the quality has gone downhill. -the veggie spring rolls were bland and the filling didn't hold together. 2 rolls for $7 is not worth it. - the red sake roll was inedible. The salmon on top tasted like it had gone bad. For $16, it was a total ripoff. - the shrimp tempura roll was the only thing that turned out okay but not worth $10. - the Tom yum had a lot of shrimp but was flavorless and again, not worth $7 for such a small serving. I cannot recommend this place in good faith. At this price point, I could've gone to Prime Fish and actually had a good meal. read more

Some of the best sushi I've had in a while. My wife and I visited here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We didn't have to wait and we were seated immediately. The place was very nice and clean inside. One of the servers brought us water quickly then our server came over a few minutes later to take our order. We chose 3 sushi rolls (Fire Cracker, Robinson and Sweet Potato) along with an order of Spicy Thai Basil with chicken. Everything came out very fast and was excellent. Great taste along with fresh quality ingredients. We did have to wait for our server early on but towards the end he was much better and very prompt. You know a place is good when you go back twice in one week since you just can't get enough! Haha. That's what happened here. Can't believe we've been driving by this spot for a while now and are just trying it out. We love it! The fish is so fresh. The sushi roll selection is great. Try the one with Cheetos on top, you won't regret it and will want to sprinkle hot Cheetos all over everything afterwards ;). My hubby and I sort of stumbled upon lunch at Red Sake in a hungry, desperate haze. The food was pretty good (although the takoyaki was a little burnt). The sushi was fresh and the classic General Tso's chicken + fried rice combo didn't miss. The low score is because of everything except the food. Our server was incredibly standoffish. They were slow. And they charged us +$3 to upgrade from white to fried rice and another $3 to change from crab to salmon in a roll?! The appetizers could be a meal by themselves! I love the mini shrimp shumai and the mini human loved the crab Rangoon appetizer. It was a little strange getting bottled beverages, but perhaps that's the aftermath of the pandemic? It's $2.50 for a bottled soda - so just be aware before you order thinking you're getting an unlimited fountain drink. Red Sake, Robinson Farms -- bad experience. Ordered sushi as we so often do from there. The food was terrible. Didn't taste fresh. Called the restaurant to explain the situation and was told we would get 20% off our next order. Why 20%, because we had some of the food. Really, is that their logic? From the first bite the food was not good but since we ate some of it 20% NEXT TIME was all they would do. Guess we won't get the 20% as we won't be going back. I make all my choice based on reviews on Yelp and google. Unfortunately, there was nothing home I "wanted" to eat. Being a picky person I am, I decided I wanted something specific - spring rolls. Usually, Open Rice is my go-to choice, but I decided to try something different. Red Sake had good average reviews and did take out with DoorDash. So I figured why not. Food was quick to arrive, SHOUT OUT to DOORDASH! My dasher Shandrel was super cool and nice! Appreciated him. However, my food the completely opposite. The seaweed salad had absolutely no flavor and was warm from being package right on top of my rice. My spring rolls, barely had crisp and was chewy inside. Lastly, I decided to have my rice. My fried rice was a plenty size and the eggs seemed fresh. After three forks in, I found a hair inside and that was a complete end for me . I get it accidents happen, it's the restaurant business, but there was truly nothing I can do about considering it was a delivery. I was not in a mood to call back or drive back... but spending $40 on myself for food that didn't do well, pretty much is a super bummer. This is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions (like our first anniversary) or when we both want something absolutely mouth watering. Red Sake is that place for us. We drive 31 miles to eat there and it is soooo good. One of the things that makes our visits to Red Sake special is that we sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs prepare the food. I wish I could tell you what we had tonight but we typically let the chef decide.....yes, the food and the prep is THAT good. Bethany always gets the hot sake. I tend to get wine and had some wonderful Chardonnay, tonight. Red Sake is off of Rea Road, near the intersection with I-485 (Exit 59). If you get there before the Butchers Market next door closes, stop there first and get dinner for the next night. The Butchers Market is an excellent meat market. Their marinaded meats should be tried. At any rate, Red Sake is well worth the stop for those that like sushi. read more

We needed to get out of the house! Red Sake was the perfect choice. They're doing an excellent job with safety protocols (temperature check at the door, staff wearing masks, tablets distanced, separate door for pick-up and Gig drivers). Facemasks required when not seated. We tucked away in a quiet corner all by ourselves. Service was excellent and our server was so sweet. Best of all...the food was so DELICIOUS!!!! DH had Chicken Curry, I had Beef Chow Fun, and we shared Pineapple rice (I asked to add fresh basil...OMG, yummo!!!). Even the green tea was so good! Everything was wonderful. However, let's talk about Red Sake. This place is a diamond in the rough. The staff here are wonderful - attentive, great service and knowledgeable about the fish they have (or will find out from the sushi chefs). NOW THE SUSHI CHEFS... Robin, Jesse and the rest of the crew are, well, the bee's knees. They are fish nerds and order only the best fish and will only serve the best to the patrons. It's really an honor to dine here. What a great local spot. Came with my second family while visiting the Charlotte area. We all love sushi and this was the first restaurant they took me too. Located in a super cute plaza we walked in (no reservation) and were able to get a table for 4 adults and a toddler within minutes. They did get busier towards later in the evening but we there around dinner time and it was great not having to wait for a table. The appetizers were great - especially the dumplings and crab Rangoons. I forget which roll I got but it was a great size and the fish was super fresh. Definitely hit the spot. I will say things kinda fell short with dessert. We wanted the green tea mochi which they were out of and we opted for the mango instead. We could tell it wasn't made fresh which was a disappointment. My friend (who's pregnant) got the fried cheesecake and said this was also a miss for her. The sake choices were also small but the one we ordered was phenomenal. Kudos to our server for making sure our glasses were full the entire time. This morning, my sushi craving was back with a vengance! Nothing else would do, and I could NOT wait till dinner... so, since I'm not "going out" yet, I decided to ask the lovely folks on a local group where the best grocery store sushi was made... in a hail of "don't you dare" verbal gunfire, I noticed a recommendation for Red Sake which I have driven by on multiple occasions, but never tried... I took the recommendation to support a local restaurant, and called in an order for pickup. I was greeted on the phone by a lovely voice (whom I later discovered was named Lorenzo), and when I told him I wanted the Red Sake roll but couldn't decide on a second roll, he suggested the Salmon Lover... as a salmon lover, how could I refuse? I capped it all off with an order of steamed pot stickers, and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes for the bargain price of $28... not bad, right?! NOT BAD, INDEED! Lorenzo is not only wonderful with the sushi recommendations, but a gem in person at the check-out counter as well! The Red Sake roll has tempura shrimp within and seared salmon without... it was savory, crunchy, and so satisfying... In opposition in palate (but not in it's succulent deliciousness) the Salmon Lover roll was FULL of a HUGE piece of salmon within... but not just ANY sushi grade salmon... thick, soft, fresh, mild, and it all but melted on my tongue... no one is getting jipped of their just amounts of salmon here, folks... And it was OH SO yummy... covered with salmon, spicy mayo, and freshly sliced jalapeno it had a wonderful KICK to accompany that soft, delectable delight! I truly CANNOT wait for another excuse to get sushi take out. I will be coming back to Red Sake, and it may be as soon as tomorrow! Keep up the amazing work! read more

This is the second time I've had an issue at this place. First time was more an inconvenience. This time, they left plastic wrapped around the kani INSIDE my California roll. I ate a few pieces realizing the weird texture and then pulled one out. Um I most certainly lost my appetite after knowing I swallowed plastic. She gave me a credit for the California roll to use within 30 days when she should've refunded my whole meal. Came here the day after Christmas to celebrate a friend's birthday as a party of six. We had a nice spacious table near the bar. We all ordered alcoholic beverages including the Mai Thai, Mango Mojito, traditional mojito and Long Island along with a couple of shots and two sake flights. My mango mojito was absolutely delicious. The birthday girl ordered the tuna tartare appetizer while the rest of us plotted on our entrees. Among us we ordered an assortment of sushi rolls, sesame chicken and general tso's chicken. Most people took leftovers home. I on the other hand came with my appetite in tact and managed to eat all of my sushi rolls which filled me up. I got the Luke Lobster, Kamikaze and Salmon Lover rolls. I also sampled a little of everyone's too. All of the rolls were beautifully done. I was pleasantly surprised by the Chinese entrees. They were really well executed with a perfect ratio of sauce to breading to chicken breast. All in all it was a great experience. If I had one small criticism to share it would be the long wait time to receive the food and drinks. However, what they lack in timeliness they make up for in quality. Given the staffing issues that many businesses are weathering I've become much more tolerant in this regard. Great experience overall. Will definitely be back and recommend to others. read more

After returning from an long out-of-town trip, I decided to treat my daughters to a meal. They wanted sushi. On a friend's recommendation, we tried this place. Aestetically, the restaurant in general needs refreshment. The restroom needed some attention to design, repair and upgrades. It was a dismal site. During the course of the meal, there were some order mix-ups, long waits for some of our food, only two menus issued for the people. We ordered nigiri and got sashimi instead, ordered lemonade and got orangeade instead. The drinks also came in cans. The rest of the food was just okay. Nothing more. No steamed washcloth for the hands before you eat. The amounts were small per order. The only possible compromise to our let down would have been lower menu prices to something more comprehensive to the overall lackluster of this meal experience. On a brighter cadence, it was the yellowtail that highlighted the visit. The pieces were fairly generous and fresh, but I doubt we'll be back because we could've had a better experience at other local establishments for considerably less. read more

The drinks were reasonably priced. I can't say enough good things about the service. The hostess was great - she went out of her way to keep us informed of when our table would be ready. Our server also let us know that the sushi bar was slammed and it might take a little longer than normal to get our sushi. Large groups are fun for the people going but nightmares for restaurants. Well, our family (party of 10) stepped in for lunch and half of our sushi orders came out wrong. Giving us the already-made rolls for free or giving us a discount for the additional wait for some family while the others were eating, would've been a courteous move but alas, not everyone is the same when it comes to exceptional customer service. So why the 4 stars? Even though service wasn't on point, their food was still good. From red Thai curry with melt in your mouth chicken to the variety of rolls, we can't complain about the food. The restrooms were also clean. My nephew swears on their red sake roll - wasn't a fan of it but it's still his favorite roll of all time. :) read more
