I've been to this fusion joint several times in the past, and I always thought they were solid...but not exactly THE best Asian fusion in town. Well, I revisited them yesterday...and I was happily surprised with some changes. Despite being Korean-owned, they went more toward Japanese (less Korean), specializing more in sushi...with a huge sushi menu! Honestly, I was a bit skeptical (given that this seemed to be a Korean-owned business...I mean, they even play K-Pop overhead! However, I tried their "Magician Roll", and it was tremendous...as in Y-U-M!! Best of all, they were pretty generous with the toppings...namely, fish roe (which I love)! In other higher priced sushi restaurants, I've had much less satisfying sushi rolls with skimpy toppings of fish roe. Truly impressed with this sushi roll. I can't wait to go back and try other sushi rolls on their menu. I also tried their Shrimp Tempura...and though they were a tad heavily battered, they were super-crispy. I think they vamped up the furnishings as well (I could be wrong here?), but the place looked nicer. Another thing I love about this place is that it's open throughout the day...not with short, separate lunch and dinner hours. This is a rare thing with Japanese restaurants. Anyway, for once, I'm dropping 5 stars!

Sexy Salmon Roll - Add lemon

I've been coming to Sushiya Japan for over 10 years, and it absolutely deserves more than 4 stars on Yelp. As someone who has been to sushi restaurants all across the U.S., I can confidently say this place consistently hits the mark every single time. The sushi here is incredibly fresh, and the portion sizes for the price are unbeatable. Their ginger dressing on the house salad is hands down the best I've ever had at any sushi restaurant--it's that good! While I can't speak to the non-sushi dishes, this is easily one of the top sushi spots in Charlotte. Sushiya is hands down better than Yama and Sushi 101 in terms of flavor, freshness, and consistency, and it offers more variety and options than Co. They also have an app and offer delivery if you live in the area, which is a great convenience. I have never had any issues with the service; the owners even know us by name since we've been coming here for as long as I can remember. Dining here always feels welcoming, like visiting family. Whether you're a sushi lover or just looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Sushiya Japan is the place to go. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out on one of Charlotte's hidden gems! You have to try the sexy salmon roll with lemon on top or the drunken lobster!

Salmon collar (Sake Kama). I highly recommend.

Fabulous salmon collar. Cooked perfectly and the service was wonderful. The tempura is always perfect and enjoy the hot citrus tea, it's really lovely. One of our favorite places to visit. Also, my daughter loves the sushi rolls.

Hibachi shrimp - Tiny portion
Jenita M.

Expensive for no reason whatsoever. Hibachi shrimp was very skimpy. I read reviews just before my order but hoped someone in the area had good hibachi. Tiny portions as someone mentioned their meal could fit in their palm. $19 meal should have been $12-14. For $19 it should be double rice and doubled veggies. I was still hungry. The up side is the white sauce was more than enough. Restaurant was dark inside and service was ready to attend for your pickup.

View of our lunch choices. Everything was just delicious.

Stopped in for lunch . Menu has great variety and prices are good. We started with vegetable tempura. Followed by seaweed salad and house salad. Seriously the ginger dressing on house salad was sooooo good. Then we ordered a Drunken lobster roll and a Yakisoba Steak with noodles & vegetables. It was all just delicious. The entire meal was delicious. Service was excellent and I would say this is definitely a place to put in rotation!!! Two thumbs way up!

This restaurant has become a go to place for Sushi for our family. Every rolls have been delicious and I love the Chirashi here. Service is attentive most of the time.

Shrimp (Ebi)

Let's start with a good first. It's a nice interior, clean, restrooms, daily specials. Waitress was attentive and friendly. I enjoyed the Miso soup but the ginger salad dressing was too runny. I asked for extra wasabi and Sriracha and was very generous portions. Shrimp appetizer did not taste fresh and that became a theme as our meal progressed. Mixed vegetables had a funky taste and my roll was soggy. At least they had the tall Sapporo.

Korean Beef Bulgogi

Neat little find at the Arboretum! Fantastic bulgogi & decent sushi roll. Service was slow, but I think that was only because they were understaffed. Our food came out quickly once we were able to order. Bulgogi was a little pricey at $15.95, but did come w/a little soup and salad. Will come back and try their lunch specials as well as different items on their menu as everything looks delicious! Especially excited to try their Udon & Yakisoba noodles, as those are some of my fav dishes that are find to find!

Amazing food! Nice little spot tucked away in the Arboretum shopping center. Lots of options from sushi to noodle and rice dishes. Always have a few specials going as well!

With it being my first time back in Fort Mill after sometime, I was ecstatic to see this place show up. Upon entrance, the elevated honeycomb seating on the right immediately caught my eye and I knew I had to sit there. The staff was polite in greeting me and provided recommendations after I sat down. For a drink, I decided to try the POKKA Oolong Tea, which was a toss up on whether I'd enjoy it. It was delicious and settled perfectly with all the food. For an appetizer, I decided to get the Tokoyaki which came in a solid portion and tasted great. For my ramen dish, I opted for a house favorite, Spicy Garlic Ramen with a level 2 heat. The whole dish was a perfect balance of tasty topping, well cooked noodles, and a delicious broth. The pork was so tender and of good quality. All in all, this place has such a wonderful atmosphere for grabbing some food by yourself or with friends. The small plates make for perfect sharing and the seating arrangement breeds a feeling of togetherness so often missing from dining experiences. The staff was so kind and helpful, and I even got to learn a bit about the beauty of Indonesia.

She made sure we were well taken care of and even packed our leftovers to go. Excellent service from start to finish! What We Ordered: * Beef with Broccoli - Hands down, this might be the BEST beef with broccoli I've ever had! The beef was high quality and incredibly tender, the broccoli and carrots were cooked to perfection, and the sauce was absolutely delicious. It came with a cup of white rice, making it a satisfying meal. * Crispy Chicken Wings - These were deliciously crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked all the way through, and full of flavor. The appetizer came with five pieces, which was just the right amount for us. The pineapple slices on the side were a nice touch! Great Value: The prices are very reasonable, too! One tip: it's best to pay in cash, as an additional fee applies when paying by credit card. The Atmosphere: The restaurant looks practically brand-new! It's spotless, beautifully set up, and has a welcoming ambiance. There's also a bar conveniently located near the entrance. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations in every way--delicious food, generous portions, reasonable prices, a clean and inviting atmosphere, and truly outstanding service. I would rate this restaurant exceptionally high and would absolutely recommend giving it a try! Definitely a place worth coming back to!

Went to this little Asian Restaurant today for a "To-go" lunch…read more I ordered my to go lunch there at the front reception desk . I Broke my own rule and never checked their health score until I was waiting on my food. Let's talk about this food. I ordered their basic food. Seriously- the basic lunch special. Chicken fried rice, with spring roll & Egg drop soup . Watching the gal at the front reception bagging up my food I noticed there was no sauces in my bag for the spring roll. I had to ask for sauces .. or there would have been none. Upon realizing that, I asked for a couple soy sauce also cause I wasn't sure how this was gonna go. I also had requested when I ordered the chicken fried rice to not include carrots. To my surprise there was nothing else in this fried rice other than a few and I do mean less than 8 tiny pieces of onion. No bean sprouts, no peas , no water chestnuts, no pea pods, no nothing just sticky fried rice with chicken and those 8 teny tiny onion bits. It was so very meh. I was extremely disappointed. I guess you have to tell the girl up front every single thing you want included or it's not gonna happen. Speaking of disappointing- I also didn't get any of those crunchy noodles for my egg drop soup so that was also very disappointing. The biggest mistake I made was not checking their health score until after I had paid. It was strategically hidden behind decorations on the wall . I literally had to move them to see it. Would I go back. Hard no. Their Basic food was horrible. The soup with no noodles , sauces I had to ask for, and fried rice that was lacking everything including flavor. Nope. BTW their health score is 90. Just barely an A. The reasons listed for that low score were very concerning. I don't normally NOT recommend a place on my first visit but too many misses and mistakes. Hard no .

A delicious array of varied Asian dishes provided with great service in an open, modern-decor bar…read moreand dining area, Spice deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants in the region. I'll start by saying that while we've routinely had delivery from Spice, until this recent visit we had never actually eaten there. Our goal was to enjoy a late afternoon on the rooftop bar. Unfortunately, it was busier than we anticipated and the only open tables were unshaded. No problem, we went back downstairs and helped ourselves to seats at the bar. Our drinks were well-made and thirst-quenching - it was honestly hard to pick the best among the Japanese Old-Fashioned, Asian Pear Martini and Lychee Martini (confession, I'm not a lychee fan but if I was I'd have two of these). By now we've had most of the items on the menu and have never received a bad meal. My favorite Small Plate is the Spicy Tuna Rice Crisps. Fresh tuna served on Japanese style crisped rice cakes with a hint of spicy mayo. I could eat these every week - and yet, we didn't order them this visit. Instead, we had the Roti Canai, edamame, vegan fresh spring rolls and seared scallops. All were devoured, so good! Among the other menu items, my recommendations are the Green Curry and the Short Rib. The rib in particular is fall-off-the-bone tender and served with a flavorful au jus sauce. I was very impressed by the service (especially compared to that of several other restaurants in the area). Our bartender was busy, yet still cheerful and attentive (and she made great drinks), Definitely in my overall Top Five among restaurants in the Fort Mill / Rock Hill area. Highly recommended!

Cuisine: 7 Service: 8…read moreDecor: 8 Value: 7 Overall: 7 I didn't expect myself to like it since I generally do not appreciate Asian fusion. However, this place was honestly quite good, along with excellent service and wonderful decor. Two of us started with some Edamame and Tom Kha Soup, which were both just alright. Where the meal started to shine was they brought the perfectly Seared Scallops w/ Vermicelli. I have been to Michelin starred restaurants that didn't have such a beautiful sear on their scallops. What a tasty treat! As for the entrees, the Braised Beef Short Rib was another spectacular dish. Falling off the bone tender and a rich savory sauce. However, the Bibimbap was nowhere near the quality we have in NYC. I honestly didn't expect to like this restaurant, but I really did enjoy the meal way more than anticipated. I will gladly return for those Seared Scallops and Braised Beef Short Rib again.
