The bar ambience and lighting is great for couples photos and when the service is good it's an amazing bar.

1 star review with the caveat of having our situation wonderfully remedied by the kind blonde lady working the bar. We were originally sat by a nice gentleman in a pink tutu suit and costume. His customer service was amazing. And albeit we did wait a bit long to be served we could understand, it being a holiday night, that it was quite busy. After about 20 minutes of waiting and finally being served, our server was polite enough during our initial interaction. The bigger issues really came into play when we were brought Coconut Prawns, which we had planned on ordering in the first place, and which I'd thought my partner had ordered already. The reason we found out about the mix-up, was because I went to go place a second order for sweet potato fries, that's when the mistake was realized. Regardless, when notified of the mistake, I tried to let our server know we were sorry for the mix-up and we were planning to add it to our tab anyways. I understood her frustration was the fact the food had already been eaten, however it was partly the kitchens fault for not double checking who it went to as well, and we had already apologized, so what more could we do. That did not justify her thereafter trying to argue, make us feel bad, or talk badly about us within earshot vicinity. Especially when it's so loud we shouldn't even be able to hear her saying anything, and yet we did. After all of this she walks off, and begins to talk poorly and unkindly about us to the bartender she's next to, all the while, looking over at us in a shameful manner. And then proceeds to never enter the sweet potato fries as well, which we found out about after notifying the sweet blonde lady we mentioned, about our poor experience, how awful we felt about the mix-up, and my partner feeling shamed for something she had no control in. She was short wearing a green dress, had a brunette natural bob, and an upper arm sleeve. And she should be ashamed of herself. It's dissappointing and disgusting to try to make your patrons feel bad for your own mistakes because you lack responsibility and self accountability. By the way the people who ordered the prawns were sat right behind my Fiancé in the photo, and they themselves joked and laughed with us about it. They were kind and forgave us as well. We will be giving this place one more chance in the future, as our last two visits before this were amazing. Thank you again to the blonde waitress who remedied the situation. And she did give us the prawns for free even though we were willing to pay for them, because she knew the mix-up was a human mistake. Do better. Gomez and Morticia were so fun to be!

We came to Red Rum as a party of 8 at about 5:00 PM on Saturday. They had just opened so it was easy to find seating. I love their decor and their ambiance! I am not the biggest drinker of rum, so I ordered a drink recommended by our waitress, which she dubbed "Orange creamsicle". It was not on the menu but it was wonderful and as described, with the base spirit being tequila. I completely forgot to take a picture :( my bad. What an awesome bar!

Planet of The Apes - delightful.

This is my favorite spot in Bellingham! The drinks are incredible and the food is delicious - the sandwiches in particular. Every bartender is attentive, kind, and they all go the extra step to make drinks beautiful and of course tasty. Redrum is the best and it's clear the owner takes great care in creating such a great environment. Go here!!

This place is an absolute gem in downtown Bellingham. The drinks are absolutely fantastic, beautifully crafted and taste great! Also, the flamming lime adds something extra to the drink for even more fun time! The staff are helpful and friendly and the service is great. First time here and I'm in love with the atmosphere here. I can't wait to come back again.

Love the ambiance of this place. Been here several times and gotta say I am conflicted. I order the coconaut A LOT, until this last visit, was great! Not sure what happened, but it came out kinda brown not creamy and very sour. The plantains for the salad were just cut in half and not pressed into tostones. Not so starchy goodness. It was hard to eat:-( One visit changed my rating from five to four stars. Taking a break for a bit and hope they get their act together for the next time.

Great little Tiki Bar in downtown B-Ham! If you want some cozy tiki bar here is the spot to go. The drinks are tasty and inexpensive. They have so many cool and weird drink on the menu! Give me the Hawaii vibes! Give it a try if you are ever in town.

Fun place to check out! It was a lot bigger inside than I expected. The vibes were fun with lots of decor. The drinks were tasty in my opinion. I love anything with coconut in it! The service was good, nothing to complain about, definitely check this place out whenever you're looking for a fun place to just chill and hangout with friends

    Chi Chi

The Chi Chi drink is DELECTABLE. Absolutely fantastic. PERFECTLY blended to be a creamy-esque, frothy coconut-y beverage. The blend technique is absolutely to be praised. It's the highest level of quality blended drink, and with some ice chunks you'll get with every few sips; which is the best possible way I can spend my money. It is made beautifully. The environment is incredible and safe. Thank you ily! Oh also, the price is WORTH IT. Tried and true, I promise you. I ordered 3. It's 9pm. Thank you

Drinks and presentation were good with skulls and other accoutrements. Decor was good but they need more! It has the potential to be a really kick ass tiki bar if they could add more decor in the walls and added to their drink menu. The food options were not what I would expect at a tiki bar, but sounded good. We got the Chief and Coconaut.

Cool in a self affected way
    Brian S.

Such a self affected cocktail culture bar never existed during cocktail culture, but works in a post modern deconstructed, construct that could only happen in booming a university town. Now on to the real experience the cocktails were actually good fresh juice cute presentations we had to rum based Trader Vic's style cocktails both for tasty and one was served with a a flaming lime. They do serve some food I had a veggie sandwich everything else was pork kind of Cuban style tasty. A female jazz musician saying in the background and did a wonderful rendition of Look of Love why we sit for cocktails. It's the perfect Twilight Zone experience.

I went for my 21st birthday and I absolutely loved it! I loved the tiki bar decor and the general vibe of the place. The drinks and food was delicious. I got a piña colada and boozy slushie, my boyfriend got a dark and stormy, and we split an order of coconut prawns. Everything was so good and the bartenders and servers were so nice and quick. Great spot, can't wait to come back!

Apparently I had no idea what a tiki bar is because I was surprised at the layout and decor of this place (I was thinking more tropical and bright). But after doing some research I found out that this is exactly how tiki bars look. So 5/5 stars for decor! The drinks were awesome. My friend got a blended rum drink that came with a flaming lime. It was beautifully crafted and the bartender was really good at her job!! The food...the three of us split an order of chicken wings, chicken empandillas and sweet potato fries. The Empandillas and fries were really good, with the fries being my favorite. In fact, they were so flavorful and crunchy I think they are some of my favorite sweet potato fries in town! The wings were a disappointment. Almost no seasoning and they were rubbery in texture, as if they had been frozen for a while. All in all, I probably wouldn't come back but that is due to my particular preferences. The decor kind of creeped me out. But you won't find another place like this in Bellingham and if you like tropical drinks (I do not), you really should give this place a try!

We came in a little before 8 and there was no one there. I had to double check with the staff to make sure they were open. Lucky for us though since no one else was there we were able to get a table for a group of 9 right away. Our server Becca was awesome. She looked after us and made sure our drinks were always filled. We decided to get the punch bowl to share. I'm just going to say that we ended up ordering 3 of these bowls and I woke up the next morning with a Top 5 hangover. These tasted like juice and I just remember my glass never being empty. I also remember having a taste of their mojito, which was delicious. As the night went on the place began to fill up and by the time we left it was packed. A musician came in at some point in the evening and performed some island tunes, which added to the fun island tiki vibe. Overall, the Tiki Bar was a ton of fun and it was a Saturday well spent. I'm so happy that we could be part of their opening night. I'd love to come back to try some of their different cocktails soon.

We ordered earlier in the day, and the shucker was clearly alert, taking the extra steps to ensure a clean finish. I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Sadly after visiting the rooftop twice for happy hour and once for dinner with an announced significant birthday number shared, and two breakfast's a three is all we can muster. It should be so much more, but the food lets down the entire experience. Our service was good, with delightful people helping our experience. That said service is slow, with details that should be spot on, not even evident. Water glasses left empty forever, promises made, not even brought up again. When the reservation was made a question was asked of an event for the dinner out. A 60th birthday was mentioned, acknowledged, and when sat by our server and nothing further. To be fair K would rather it all go by unannounced, but when it's all over the paperwork a small recognition should be there. The space itself, is not on a rooftop at all, but it's a beautiful high ceilings restaurant that deserves a far better kitchen. Our price fixe menu for two at $155 or so was definitely not worth the price at all. The steak was uniformly medium when med rare was the ask. There was a tiny bit of medium rare at one end, but the vast majority was medium or more. The torch of the butter on the steak, looked good from afar prior to our serving, but right in front of you looks almost comical. Our breakfasts were average at best, again service was ok, but the food was not where it should be, in fact not even close. We'd ponder staying at the hotel again due to location, but we'd not eat here.

Two stars ( instead of one ) for the bartender trying to make it right by offering me a free shot with my happy hour beverage but honestly I would have rather just been treated better (with a little more consideration) . In the states at "fancy" restaurants and or really popular places ( in general places that take reservations) , a single person would never really be allowed to sit at a larger table or booth, unless extreme circumstances warranted it like they were disabled / had a wheelchair ( which I am ) due to the fact that most likely a larger party who would obviously want to sit together, would need that limited space and it would be awkward to have someone move tables when they were already enjoying their drink or meal to accommodate a larger party. This rule, however doesn't really exist at places like dive bars . In general as most dive bars tended to be sparsely populated ...sitting wherever is not really an issues . In general first come first serve and every man for himself ...is usually the vibe . I arrived here, basically at opening and was there for about 40 minutes when a party of four arrived . All four of them kept looking at my table where I was sitting (the only booth in the small bar) as they were initially forced to sit together at one of the single tables with four chairs . Next thing, I know the bartender comes over to me and apologizes, saying he has to bug me and request that I move to a smaller table because they need the one booth . As I gathered my belongings to move, members of the larger party avoided making eye contact as they some thanked me for moving . Obvious that they were feeling guilt and yet it didn't stop them from claiming the booth I was using as a disabled person . Quite an unpleasant experience . To be fair I get the need to accommodate a larger party but honestly they could've literally just pushed three tables together and arranged the chairs to be three on each side. It would've been a little bit more work, but I think it would have been the fairest solution ..and would have been my solution as the employee working there or if I was a member of the party . It's the entitlement that really bothered me . I think I just come from a place where in certain instances people wouldn't even dare ask .

Google Maps takes you to parking lot. You may think it's wrong but it's right. Just park and go to east side of building. You'll find door there. Opposite side of building has resto called Camp Beer The service was good, and the atmosphere was lively with a nice crowd. Besides the food, I think it might be a great spot to hang out at the bar for drinks. There was a crowd starting to form at bar. I do encourage others to support this buisness vs the chain resto's of a similar calibre

We got a reservation a day before and there were plenty of spots available. They had a big drinks menu and quiet a few food options as well. Best part was that they had lots of veggie options! Here's what we got: Drinks - :: Zero-proof pineapple fizz - it def looked as good as it tasted. Very refreshing and fruity! Really enjoyed it. :: Guava aperol margarita - delicious! I could taste the guava and the spice on the rim of the glass was perfectly paired with the drink Food - :: Parmesan plenta fries - was so excited to try it, I wasn't sure what to expect. The presentation was amazing, just wish they were a big more crispy but the dipping sauce it came with was really good :: Burrata Bucatini - calabrian chili vodka cream sauce, pancetta, burrata, ricotta, thai basil, grano padano 3/5 :: Brick half chicken - pretty good! I would give it a 4/5 it was really creamy and the chicken was cooked well but I don't think it was seasoned that well. I would say for the portion size and the food, it was a bit overpriced but definitely 5/5 for the ambiance!

The lighting is dim and romantic. Definitely not conducive to sexy food photos…read more The waitstaff was speedy and friendly. The acorn has been on my list for YEARS! So to say I was extremely excited is an understatement. We ordered the Sourdough (with House Cultured Butter, Vancouver Island Sea Salt) Shiitake (with Soy Braised Squash, Kelp, Ginger,Lemongrass) Cabbage with Brown Butter and Pomme Dauphinois Harvest which was house made ravioli stuffed with chicken of the woods. For dessert the Plum with Fig Leaf, Miso Honeycomb and Thai Basil Sourdough was good. No arguments there. The shiitake was fine, palatable. The cabbage and potato were very bland and made me question why the Acorn is so hyped. It was so bland i didn't finish it. Keep in mind SERVING SIZES ARE TINY. The ravioli were practically inedible the chicken of the woods was beyond overly salted and the pasta wasn't cooked. We joked that al dente was at least touching water. This pasta has never heard of water. Easily one of if not THE WORST PASTA I've ever had at a restaurant in the past few years. Thank goodness the plum dessert was yummy. Very good. But truly I don't understand why people rave about The Acorn. I love food. Im a vegetarian but it's hard to comprehend why it's so hyped. Maybe there was a new cook? Maybe it was an off night? Crossed off my Vancouver bucket list. It took me a while to write this review because I frankly was in shock the contrast between the actual food vs the lore it has around town. The highlights were a basic sourdough and a well balanced dessert. That just feels so wrong.
