I'm diggin' the spot! It's located inside this middle eastern type plaza that's pretty much ran down. Some of the local stores around look like they're out of business and not doing too well. Red Room looks like one of these shops as well. From the outside, it doesn't look appealing and instead looks like a hardware store that's barred up from the outside. When you enter in, it's whole different story. The walls are dark red, dim lighting, nice black leather lounging furniture, smooth stone grounds, clean setting, etc. The hookahs here are clean and up to date. Their hookah hoses are thick and comfortable for grip. My bro in law and I took about a good hr and half with our single flavor. It did get really bitter at the end and harsh to puff but otherwise it was good. We smoked this popular flavor called elixir which had lemon mint, white grape and some other flavor. This was a pretty good mix but I've had better. Overall, this place is awesome! I do like how it gives off this VIP/Lounge feel. Interesting location for a Hookah place. It's located in a practically empty shopping center off of Almaden Expressway. It was close to work and we headed over after a long day. Walked in and right away, was thrown off by the lighting. It is super bright in here for a Hookah bar! Weird! They seat you and give you menus. The seating was terrible! OMG not sure if we were unlucky and had the most uncomfortable couch in the joint but it was like sitting on the Flintstone's family couch lol. My butt hurt after only five minutes. House rules is 2 people max per Hookah so we had to order 2 of them. There was only one hose per Hookah too. We had orange and white peach and everyone enjoyed them. At around 4pm there was a good amount of people here which kind of surprised me. They have sodas, waters and snacks for sell at the counter. You pay after you are done. Price point was fair. Used to love coming here on a weekly basis. The hookah is great (always ordered the elixir) and the ambiance is nice. Except: *Omar no longer works there. He used to make it a point to come and check on us regularly and replace our coals. We no longer get the same service. *No food or drinks. I respect that... but not when the owners are sitting right beside me eating their meals while telling us we cannot. *Speaking of no drinks, they used to offer really good iced drinks; smoothies and fraps, which they no longer offer. There are hookah lounges in San Jose that have really good black tea but none have green tea. Ive been to this place a few times and the green tea always hits the spot lol. The hookah gets better each time I smoke at this place. Another thing that really surprised me was the green starbuzz hose with each hookah. Most lounges use the stock hoses and those obviously suck. For now the coal service is SUPER fast. Most lounges that open up are fast for the first few months and then they start slowing down. So we shall see about that when I update the review in a few months. The seating is super comfortable like someone else said. The tobacco this place has must be extra special because I'm still feeling a little buzzed by it a day later. Me and the wifey plopped down on the couch after watching the dramatic conclusion the the Warriors Spurs game one. We asked the server what we should get and she recommended the Elixir. The hookahs themselves are nice and tall so the drag was nice and smooth. The Elixir was a nice mixture and it made me feel so relaxed. This is a good place. And I drive 12 miles to come here when I have other Hookah places close by. The quality of Hookah and the service have always been good except for today. This may be a one time thing but I would like to put it out there. The service sucked today - literally. We had to wait very long for coal replacements and had to go to the front desk many times. In spite of that, we could manage to get the guy once and the first question he asked was 'Is this your first time here?' I had tried to brush off the existing coal and one of it had shifted to the center. He cited that as a reason of it feeling harsh. The coal has almost burned out and we were getting almost no smoke. I'm a Hookah connoisseur and have been to almost all Hookah Lounges in the South Bay. Secondly, we had to wait longer for the next 2 coal changes and every time we got up to talk to the staff we were told that the coal guy will go to each Hookah and if he's not coming that means they're heating the coal. I saw them coming to the ones right opposite us and changing the coal but completely ignoring us for some weird reason. We sat there for almost 2 hours and our Hookah experience was ruined. Having more customers is not an excuse since they should be efficient at managing crowd. That's what service is and that's what we tip for. read more

I came here with 2 of my girl friends on a Saturday night and this place was kinda packed.. There were still a few seats left but the host sat us at the edge of a couch with 3 other people and one of us could touch the other people and one of us was sitting on the very edge! We were not happy with that so we asked to sit somewhere else and the host was very hesitant. She didn't want to sit us anywhere else, she even said it. So we finally got to move cause we ended up standing for a bit.. Not happy with that! She wasn't too friendly either.. I wanted to come here to try out the Lavoo hookahs cause I think they're the only ones in San Jose who have them.. They're just pretty hookahs! :) it hits really well and it doesn't get harsh! Definitely recommend getting a Lavoo hookah when coming here.. I believe it was $35 for 3 people per Lavoo hookah. The atmosphere of this place is OKAY. I don't like the fact that you can't sit across with your friends and talk to them face to face like I can at other lounges.. I understand that it could be a safety hazard but ehh.. I've been to better lounges with a better seating arrangements. Been here about 5 times, yes I drive all the way from Hayward to smoke here lol. Their hookah is just as good as Smoke This Hookah in downtown. It's in the cuts of San Jo but once you get inside, you'll forget about that. Plenty of parking! They have tons of drinks to choose from as well, I always get the white peace iced tea, hits the spot. Prices are pretty average for lounges in the Bay Area. Customer service is great when it's not overcrowded! Definitely a new kick it spot though. read more

I have gone to literally every hookah lounge in the South Bay and none of them even come close to how excellent Red Room hookah lounge is! In January I had thrown my birthday party here, I gave them a two week heads up and they were so kind and helpful even when i wasn't sure how many people will be there, when I came in on the day of our spot was reserved and everything went perfectly, bonus was the belly dancer who danced with everyone! The music was hitting the spot and obviously the hookah was perfect! 5 stars for management and the other staff 5 stars for the hookah! 5 stars for the service! 5 stars for the drinks! Update: with my mediocre review last time, the owner had reached out to me. She apologized for the mediocre service. I came back with a different group of friends and on a week day this time. The service was a1 like the first ever time we went here. The guy who was changing the coals was hilarious and super nice. The owner herself came out to talk to me which was a plus. It shows she truly cares about the business and is looking to improve in anyway she came. Keep in mind, I didn't leave a nasty review the last time, I only spoke my opinion in hopes the owner would read it to improve her business in which is did! It's nice to see that they truly care about their customers. After this last experience, it changed my perspective of the place and I will continue to come here when I am in the area. The girls in the front are always super rude. They expect you to know how it works. I know that I've been here a lot of times, but sometimes I forget how many add on people you're allowed per hookah. The last time in particular, the guys who usually come around to change the coals only came by 2x during the entire time my party was here (2 hours). We had to keep asking for the coals to be changed but they would only come by every hour. When the flavor ran out I asked the hostesses if I can refill the flavor I waited 15 mins then proceeded to the front desk again to ask where our flavor was. I wasn't aware that they were making it and bringing it to the table since I'm not usually the one asking for a refill. Instead of a simple "yes, we are currently making it right now and it will be out shortly," her response was. "Yea! I put the order in already. " and rolled her eyes at me. I simply apologized since I was aware how it works and walked back to my booth. I've noticed it is not as packed as it used to be and I'm always seeing new faces everytime. Either way... i only come here because of the Lavo, and because it is close to the house. Ps- the hazelnut honey coffee sounded really good and I kept seeing people with tea/coffee so I ordered one. So in SF it's really really hard to find a good hookah spot now after all these stupid laws. I have been forced to trek to SJ for anything remotely good. Sadly a lot of places have turned the relaxing idea of enjoying a hookah into a rave or really really loud obnoxious club. Not so much with this place. Pretty much what I was used to. A coffee shop look, with couches and small tables through out. Great attentive staff, they brought out fresh coals preemptively (super rare lately). Pretty awesome. I want to come back. Hardest thing with this place is finding it. Google was like take a left, then take a left and put me in someone's driveway that was behind a wall. Basically this place is in a little plaza, but at night it's not visible from the street, but trust me it's there. But looks like I found my hookah spot from now on. Is almost all you need to know to come here, but there is more, service is great!! Everyone is always friendly, and they show that they thoroughly enjoy what that do. The set up is cute! I've been smoking hookah 13 years and I know a good hookah when I inhale one. Trust me. Right now, this is the best hookah you can get from San Jose to San Fran. The lounge itself is nice. Red of course. The music was very loud the first time I came. This is a hookah lounge not a club. But today's kiddies can't get enough of their loud music. Not really the best place to hookah in my opinion... I came here on a Saturday night with a couple of friends and it was quite busy. Upon arrival one of my friends brought a bottle of water with him because it was habitual for him to do so. When we got in they told him that they don't welcome outside drinks. My friend then went back to his car to put his water bottle back. We looked over the menu and we decided to get the Karma flavor (tangerine dream, bluemist, safari melon dew). When our hookah came out, I realized the hose was made out of plastic. I've never been to a hookah place where the hose was plastic. I mean, I guess it's a good way to recycle the hose if you don't constantly want to clean a hose. They also sell extra hoses if you want another hose. They hookah flavor was mediocre. Nothing too memorable for me. I also think they put mint in it and I don't really like mint. We also decided to get a Fumo (a glass container hookah set). The Fumo was a little funny looking because they added color to the water and the color they put in ours was blue. It reminded me of dish soap so smoking it wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be. When one of the hostess walked by, one of my friends was sitting Crisscross applesauce (or Indian style if you don't know what crisscross apple sauce is) and she told him to take his feet of the furniture. I personally thought that was rude. Most hookah places aren't as knit picky as this place. One of the other things that ticked me off was when our coals needed to be refilled the person who was refilling our coal didn't even acknowledge us. Like he didn't say "do you need to refill on coals?" Or " how is the hookah? Are your coals feeling a little light?" This is my first time here and it will be my last. Walked in and immediately stopped by the host informing me there is no outside drinks allowed(i had a water bottle with me) After placing my bottle in the car, we were seated pretty quick. We ordered a house flavor named Karma, it wasn't anything special, I wouldn't get it again. There are some rules, no feet allowed on the furniture, and bowls must be refilled after 2 hours. Atmosphere is your typical hookah lounge, top 40 music and dimly lit. We ordered a Lavoo, possibly the most unique product offered on the menu as it is an all glass hookah. Air flow felt a little harder than usual. And we were not provided tongs unlike the other traditional hookah. The hose is a disposable one, definitely a big turn off in my opinion If you're looking to hookah, I highly recommend Cloudz(about 4 miles away), the pricing is roughly the same, the flavors offered is larger, and their 'glass hookah' exclusive I believe are better made(our purge valve flew out when we tried to purge). read more
