She clearly explained the pricing structure: $475 if the digging to the tank cover didn't exceed three feet, and $50 for each additional foot beyond that. I really appreciated her honesty upfront--it's refreshing not to be surprised by extra charges after the work is done. She also let me know that a complimentary camera inspection would be included after the service, which added even more value. On the morning of 4/16, I called again because my wife likes to prepare meals and beverages for workers, and we wanted to know how many people to expect. I spoke with Yasmin, who was upbeat and friendly. She let me know that a crew of three would be arriving and that the service would take about two hours. She also updated me that the arrival window had narrowed from 8 AM-5 PM to 8 AM-noon, which was helpful for planning. The crew arrived later than planned (no big deal), led by manager Nate, supervisor Lance, and a trainee named Hector. It was clear right away that this team, assembled by their "big boss" Arelic, was professional, knowledgeable, and respectful. I had several questions--probably six or seven--and each one was answered thoroughly in a way that was easy to understand. Nate even took the time to draw a diagram on his tablet to explain how the underground system works and what they would be doing. At one point, Nate had to leave for another job and confidently left Lance in charge. That alone spoke volumes about the trust and teamwork within the company. Lance did an excellent job leading the operation and ensuring everything ran smoothly. I also appreciated how he mentored Hector, making sure he followed all safety procedures and even offering him praise for his work. No charge. So Tad came out Friday and the heater was shot. Once he took the cover off I could see the water spewing on the inside when we turned the water to hot. The water damaged the copper and materials inside. We needed a new one. He provided the option for 2 kinds of tankless heaters. We chose the bigger one that has a 10 year warranty and a free flush after a year. We didn't know the heaters needed to be flushed every so often. We did troubleshooting wherever we could by shutting off water to the house, the toilets, the irrigation system....everything. We called one plumbing company but they said we needed leak detection which they didn't offer, so we zeroed in on Olson Plumbing and Leak Detection. Their website said there was no charge for leak detection, so we figured we couldn't lose. Not only were the two brothers Cody and Jeff at our house within 40 minutes, but they spent two hours searching every tap, wall, and pipe....to no avail. They finally started checking water pressure at hose bibs because there were no leaks to be found and lo and behold, one was registering 130+ psi which pinpointed a blown pressure regulator. The two brothers kept assuring us that they wouldn't quit until they'd diagnosed our problem and they weren't kidding. They got the city's water meter to quit spinning and we got a professional repair without having to even pay for all their diagnostic work. Since they'd scoured our house from top to bottom looking for leaks, we're now making plans for a bathtub to shower conversion since they do work like that too. Prompt, friendly, tenacious, knowledgeable, and professional, these brothers are our plumbers for life! I spent 45 minutes on hold waiting for Hesperia Water District to tell us how they knew there was a problem at the house, and I was told it was because our water bill was so high. The next day our 2 month water bill posted in email.....$5,000! You read it right FIVE THOUSAND dollars. Water is liquid gold in the High Desert. Now we throw ourselves on the mercy of the City of Hesperia regarding the bill and hope the bulk of the water trickled back into the aquifer.
