The solution to my septic plumbing ordeal began when I called Cisneros Bros. in the middle of the night meaning to leave a message, but surprisingly, after several calls (accidentally called several times in my stress) an actual person answered the phone. Nicole (who answered) must have guessed it was urgent even if after hours. The next day, I met Nathan Knapp who walked me through every single step the crew would take. (Thank you crew!). I was helping my parents with this -- their septic tank broke into a foul river of waste in their front yard. Neighbors called the city for help, we were cited to fix things immediately, and almost $18,000 later it has been fixed. I could not pay ANY company this amount without understanding what in fact they were fixing, how, and the different options. Apparently for many decades, we were not meeting city codes (we didn't know until this septic tank disaster). The cheaper options to "fix" the septic mess weren't really an option because the city citation did not allow the cheaper fixes, but also because we truly needed a major fix. Nathan and the crew (Jeff, Victor and Rogelio) were super hardworking at pumping out the tank and Victor luckily spoke Spanish who could better explain things to my dad. It's hard to pay a bill like this, but I recognize the value of it -- it was necessary, and I really don't think it would have been cheaper or done better by others. We passed the city codes with flying colors and we don't have to worry about a sinkhole or wastewater mess. So glad to have have a brand new seepage pit, new outlet lines etc.!

She clearly explained the pricing structure: $475 if the digging to the tank cover didn't exceed three feet, and $50 for each additional foot beyond that. I really appreciated her honesty upfront--it's refreshing not to be surprised by extra charges after the work is done. She also let me know that a complimentary camera inspection would be included after the service, which added even more value. On the morning of 4/16, I called again because my wife likes to prepare meals and beverages for workers, and we wanted to know how many people to expect. I spoke with Yasmin, who was upbeat and friendly. She let me know that a crew of three would be arriving and that the service would take about two hours. She also updated me that the arrival window had narrowed from 8 AM-5 PM to 8 AM-noon, which was helpful for planning. The crew arrived later than planned (no big deal), led by manager Nate, supervisor Lance, and a trainee named Hector. It was clear right away that this team, assembled by their "big boss" Arelic, was professional, knowledgeable, and respectful. I had several questions--probably six or seven--and each one was answered thoroughly in a way that was easy to understand. Nate even took the time to draw a diagram on his tablet to explain how the underground system works and what they would be doing. At one point, Nate had to leave for another job and confidently left Lance in charge. That alone spoke volumes about the trust and teamwork within the company. Lance did an excellent job leading the operation and ensuring everything ran smoothly. I also appreciated how he mentored Hector, making sure he followed all safety procedures and even offering him praise for his work. That kind of positive reinforcement says a lot about the company culture. Overall, I was 100% satisfied with my experience. In the old days, I would run down to Lowe's and pick up a thermocouple and install it myself but I was brought up to speed by Helping Hand when they informed me that my water heater model required a different kind of part, a "thermopile" that must be ordered out of state. After waiting two days, the part came in, Ralph and Rita came out and.....the part was still unable to resolve the issue due to a low voltage reading. This meant that I would have to keep ordering other associated parts until the problem would be resolved. Ralph also discovered a separated baffle which should have been attached at the top of the tank, resting at the bottom of the tank, with no way to reattach it, which really was "baffling". He kindly suggested the possibility of having an entirely new tank installed, one where if parts were to fail, he would have access to replacing them locally. As it was suggested, so it was accomplished. They were kind enough to go out and obtain a new water heater and accessories that same day, diligently working into the evening after a long arduous day from other jobs prior to mine, until the install was fully finished. Once again, it was a friendly and professional experience with efficient, thorough and desired results from start to finish.

The previous plumbers who came to my home went with the "worst case scenario" estimates, getting me as freaked out as possible about the extent of the damage, the scope of the repair, and of course the cost, which in every case was far more than Fairway ended up charging me. Plumbing repairs are not inexpensive, but there are many (local) plumbing contractors who will use scare tactics to get you to spend as much as they can squeeze out of you, preying on the assumption that you don't know anything about plumbing. When Fairway came out to assess the situation (slab leak), Derek found the problem, showed me where and what it was, gave me a couple of options, and made some suggestions. The repair was completed as discussed, reasonable time, clean job. The price for the job is the price for the job, no bullshit. Also, prior to the estimate appointment Derek gave me a tip that likely saved me a bunch of money on my water and gas bills while I was waiting for the repair. Not one tech from the other companies made that one simple suggestion, which is testament to the fact that Derek is a contractor with integrity.
