This was our first stop on our small winery tour we embarked on for the day. It had a small wine tasting room and one man that was serving everyone, so service was a little slow. We were pleasantly surprised by the greeting of a free taste of the Oompa blue wine, which was so tasty! Each flight is $12 for 5 wines, and you also get complimentary crunchy bread sticks and a truffle. Nice touch. We all tried different wines, which was fun, but we unfortunately only liked a small few (the Oompa blue and one of the ports). The cranberry wine was pretty good and very tart! I read some other reviews that this winery features more traditional dries, not as sweet as other wineries around. We are not huge dry wine drinkers, so if that is your thing, this place is for you! Overall rating 3/5 stars, it's worth a stop to try if you're doing a tour, but don't expect to hang out all day!

This winery is the place to come for more refined wines. Their wines tend to be finer than those from other Door County wineries. The focus seems more on traditional dry varietals rather than the sweeter wines prevalent in this area. Prices for these higher tier wines seemed correspondingly high, especially for this area I was quite pleased with the quality and taste of the wines I tasted, but disappointed with the apparent lack of knowledge about the wines from our tasting staff (although she did inform us that all the grapes are sourced from California).

We understand that we are getting wine in Door County, but some of these wines were pretty bad. We did love the Riesling and the Gewurztraminer, but the rest we couldn't finish. The lady server at the bar, was a little too absent minded and checked out 2 people before us even though she knew we were next.

My boyfriend and I did a round robin of wine tasting. This was our second stop. It was a relaxing atmosphere accompanied with nice music. The special of the day that they served was "The Oompa Loompa". It was a blend of sweet blueberries and grapes. Andy was our laid back server. You get a flight of your desired wine at a cost of 5 for $10. If you're looking for a relaxing time for you and your friends, I suggest coming here.

Stopped in here based on the recommendation from another winery where I was looking for bigger more robust reds instead of the predominantly more sweeter wines that you find in Door County. The tasting itself was a reasonable $5 with a fairly decent selection of wines to choose from to include the bigger reds I was looking for. Relative to the tasting, the pours were generous and the wines were OK but clearly not in the league of the major US wine regions of California, Oregon and Washington. Relative to the facility, it is very bright with a contemporary flair to it with wine barrels stacked high along the side of the tasting area providing a good ambiance for the tasting. There its also a setup for bands that apparently play on the weekend during the height of the tourist season which would definitely be a lot of fun and add quite a bit to the wine tasting experience. Relative to staff, the person handling our pours on this day was not as well versed on their wines as some of the other wineries we had been too which limited some of the discussion/education I was looking for and definitey detracted from the tasting. Overall when approaching these Door county wine tastings you need too temper your expectations on the quality of the wine and instead focus on the experience which can be quite enjoyable especially if doing these tastings with family and friends. I give this experience three stars based predominantly on the lack of knowledge of the wine we were served which is a absolute must for a business like this.

Ok I'm not a wine enthusiasts so I might not know what I'm talking about. But I will just share my experience with you. Hubbie and I have been taking a trip to Door County every fall for a few 4-5 years now and this is the 1st time we had stopped at Red Oak. From the outside I just didn't want to stop in. But I was so pleasantly surprised, it was very lovely. A great open space in the seating area, warehouse. There was a musician playing. We sat in the tasting area, friendly workers, very knowledgeable. I can not remember how many samples you get but it's $5 and the pours are generous. I think I lean more towards a white wine, I'm not sure because I am not a wine drinker. But what I had was good. I don't have hot flashes but I swear I was having one when we left, that wine warmed me right up! Fun experience.

Red Oak is a lovely place with nice tasting areas. Along with wine they have beer for people that may not be wine drinkers. Although they have a large selection of wines, I wasn't able to find a wine I enjoyed, they were all too acidic for my taste. I also found it interesting that even though they have a vineyard, they get a lot of their grapes from California. My three star rating is based on the service, when we were there there were hardly any other people there, yet it took forever to get a poor or even to be acknowledged when we sat down, only two people there at the time. The girl behind the bar, Jenn, spent a great deal of time talking to a guy whose glass was always full while she basically ignored everyone else, not overly helpful or friendly either. I think their wines are just okay, certainly not worth the prices they charge.

Great winery with excellent wines and phenomenal staff. Pricing was to be expected with this type of venue. Learned a lot and shared some great company. Thank you!!

When we walked in the vibes were off, the staff was rude and judgmental and not welcoming at all. Overall a sad experience.

This is a great winery that happens to be in Door County. However, it is NOT a 'Door County…read morewinery'! Don't come here if you're hopping from winery to winery (you will be sorely disappointed when faced with real wine). If you've never heard of vitis vinifera, this winery is NOT for you. It IS, however, for those who appreciate fine wines (as opposed to the alcoholic fruit beverages served at most Wisconsin wineries). Stone's Throw appears to be one of only three Wisconsin wineries producing truly fine wines (along with Blind Horse Winery in Kohler and Von Stiehl Winery in Algoma). Yes, the atmosphere is pretentious. But that pairs well with their fine Zinfandel. I was so impressed, I joined their wine club. Cheers! I will work on getting them to provide palate cleansing crackers and water with their tastings, but the lack thereof is a minor weakness.

Once we did eat it, we liked everything! Our main complaint was that we felt like the staff was annoyed that we were there. We came in with a reservation for 7 people and when we told the hostess they said "seven?" with a bit of a tone. We were met with several eye rolls throughout our experience, like when we asked for an extra plate, napkin, fork, and our bill (they did not bring enough for our whole party). There was nice live music being played and it's beautiful outside. There was a nail sticking out of the table and we mentioned it and they just said "okay" with no apology or solution which I also thought was odd. The stools were also pretty high up for the table, so we could not fit our legs underneath. I think our server was very stressed because it seemed to be fairly understaffed and I think that dipped into the level of service. Management or ownership definitely needs to find more staff or step in as servers, because it seemed like 3 servers were responsible for the entire place. I wouldn't be back, but I could guess the service would be better if they had more staff, which I know can be tricky toward the end of summer. It's a beautiful place in a great location, they just could use more staff so they are not so overwhelmed.

This business makes there own Beer, wine and alcohol products where the diversity of what they make is kind of amazing considering the footprint/size of their facility. Relative to the tastings, these are free of charge where customers are encouraged to tip instead to show their appreciation for what they have been served. Duriing our trip here we tasted numerous spirits to include their house made gin, rum, vodka, Brandy, Bourbon and various flavored moonshines. I thought the liquors with the exception of the Moonshines were just OK but the moonshines were surprisingly quite good. These 60 proof drinks come across like a liquor based on the alcohol by volume content with a similar creamy texture. The flavor profiles are quite unique to anything I have ever tasted before where their flavors include Grandma's Apple Pie, Salted Caramel, Orange Slice and Lemon Drop shine to name just some of them. Every Moonshine bottle we tasted was so tasty where I was really enamored with all of them and at the end of the day ended up buying the Lemon Drop and salted Caramel although it was hard to stop at just these two. Relative to the facility it has a non descript outer view where the inside comes across more of a typical bar venue more so than a winery/distillery which is a bit deceiving in my mind considering how much product they make here. No stacked wine barrels or a sneak peak of the Distillery or Barrel rooms to reinforce what this business is and add the cute ambiance you get at many of the wineries I visit. Relative to Staff, They were exceptionally friendly and good on the repours for our free tasting which definately added a lot to our tasting event. Overall a very pleasant time was had by our group where I see myself returning again in the future and sampling their other ware's and probably buying more moonshine!
