I was happy with the selection of liquors here. And for $2 a taste, it is a good way to try out what you like before buying a bottle! The distillery tasting room was empty on a Saturday afternoon. The winery was a bit more popular (we counted three bachelorette parties!) We started outside for a drink before heading inside to scope it out. The bartender outside was so sweet! And improvised my drink when they couldn't find one of the ingredients. Overall the drinks were not my favorite. They were more like dive bar cocktails to me. The bartender leading the tasting didn't seem super interested in telling us about any of the liquors. We tried the vodka, gin, 10 year brandy, bourbon, and maple bourbon! I loved the gin and the maple bourbon. read more

Went for my first wine tasting! Upon arriving there was plenty of parking to choose from. Inside was huge! Lots of cheese, sausage, beer, snacks & of course wine. The bartenders were nice and attentive at both the wine area and the spirit tasting area. Definitely would come back. read more

Located in Southern Door County, I always feel like this a perfect stop on the way to other places. They open at 10 AM, making it a perfect first stop in Door County. We stopped for a breakfast Bloody Mary and of course to sample some of their other spirits. The outdoor deck is a beautiful place to enjoy a drink or two! It would be nice to spend the whole day there, but there are so many other things to do while in Door County. We enjoyed some sunshine and a drink. I think the early morning visit made it less busy and much more enjoyable! read more

Came in today - two staff working and felt like I was bothering them. Never a greeting - or a we'll be right with you - nothing. Pours are nice to try the spirits -- however, the upstairs patio was like a day care. Sorry - pass with so many other options. read more

The bourbon is only aged 2 years in the barrel and is not good. The wine didn't taste good either.

We had a chance to visit again on our mid-September 2021 trip and so it's time for an update! Please also see my previous review. We did the sprits tasting last time, but the cocktails looked so good we said we'd have to come back for those next time...who knew a global pandemic would mean "next time" was 2 years later?! Anyway, we finally came back for those cocktails! I had a gin mojito that was amazing! I had always just done rum mojitos, but gin works amazingly well. These are large, strong cocktails at an incredibly reasonable price. We took them out on the upstairs patio and enjoyed them at a leisurely pace. I bought another bottle of the barrel aged gin that I had enjoyed on my 2019 visit and am looking forward to enjoying that at home. The tasting bar area was crowded on a weekday afternoon during what is usually off peak season, but this year seemed to be an extended peak all over Door County. They handled the crowds well, and there was plenty of room to sit outside. We noticed there was also a tent off the parking lot that seemed to be serving beverages as well; that would definitely be worth checking out if you want to avoid an indoor bar area for ordering. read more

One of the best places we visited during our week in door county. Unlike some of the tourist traps catering to the tour bus riding groups, this was an elegant, higher-end experience on par with some of the nicer wine tasting rooms in Napa Valley. Note: the spirits tasting is separate from the wine tasting and located just across the hall. We stopped in specifically to try the spirits. Micro distilleries are popping up all over the place these days and we were excited to find this one in door county. Unlike many that just have gin and vodka (no aging requirement so good for cash flow), this very well funded place offers bourbon, whisky, bitters and more. Step in to the brand new tasting bar to try the booze. $6 gets you tastes (just a couple of tablespoons) of three spirits server elegantly on aged wooden barrel staves and $12 gets you six. I tried and enjoyed the whisky, bourbon and cherry brandy and my wife had the cherry vodka, bitters and another vodka. Quality of their product is top notch and the bartender friendly and helpful. After your tasting step into the shop and stock up. While the products aren't cheap, they are unique and very good tasting. I ended up leaving with 4 bottles -just under$100. read more

Cocktails were flavorless & watered down. I had the gin Mojito and I don't think there was any simple syrup or mint or lime. The place itself is very touristy. Go get a cocktail from a good bar like Wickman house, Trixie's or another bar. read more

I've visited this distillery a few times. It's pretty popular, always jam packed, I've never gotten close enough to do a wine tasting, also food tasting, come on people share! LOL Dang vultures. So usually when I come here I just shop, they have great gift ideas. This time husband & I did some alcohol taste testing, not for me. But right up his alley! They used to have a restaurant, that is now closed and temporary housing beer for a local brewery that burned down, so that is very nice of them.Nice location and building. read more

Oh boy...we decided that if there are one too many billboards about a place along the highway, we probably should NOT stop there. Loads of tourists and trolleys. Not really our ideal spot. The bartenders in the distillery are super nice and we enjoyed what we drank and sampled. The wine tasting area was bat sh*t crazy and we did not try any wine. Also too many wine varieties for my liking. Kind of gimmicky. The outside seating was lovely and there was also a place to get drinks out there. It's really touristy so if that's what you're looking for, you'll love it. read more

Door County Distillery shares a building with Door Peninsula Winery. Tastings are available for $5 for 3 samples and includes a souvenir tasting glass. Over the past couple of years, I've sampled most of their items and especially enjoy the Cherry Brandy, Apple Brandy, Vodka, and Barrel Aged Gin. The store sells t-shirts and trinkets and is worth exploring. I highly recommend you visit them, and it's best if you have a designated driver, since the winery is just a few feet away, too. read more

This place is awesome. We tried a ton of different wines. They say you can have 7 samples but they don't really count at all. All the employees are super nice and helpful and the wine was tasty as well! I really liked the sinister and rose bouquet. It was basically like Costco- lots of choices and lots of samples- but better. No complaints here, highly recommend! read more

The Best winery and distillery in Door County hands down. Great selection, amazing value, free tasting and the most inspired and dedicated staff. Kristine (sp?) was our tasting guide and our tour guide when we toured their production facilities. It was very informative and she is so passionate about the craft, it really shines through. We left with a bottle of cider, sparkling wine and red wine, as well as a bottle of the most amazing infused olive oil. And we tasted really good fudge! The building is historical, used to be a school, and there is a lot of original details in there. Thank you for making our time in Door County special! read more

Stopped in here after a tasting at Door Peninsula Winery and were very happy we did! My fiance had the three tastes for $5 (tastes, not shots, mind you) with the cherry brandy, cherry bitters, and whiskey. He's an Old Fashioned lover, and really took to that brandy and bitters. We bought a bottle of each to take home, ran us about $36 total. We live in Chicago and the price of bitters is insane, so we thought theirs was actually a good deal! I tried the Grownup Shirley Temple made with cherry moonshine which was also delicious and not harsh at all. Definitely worth visiting, especially sharing space with a winery. read more

Neat place, bought a few cases of wine after tasting and bought a bottle of Rock Island Rum. An FYI on this rum, it basically tastes like tequila. If you like tequila then get this rum. Unfortunately I don't drink tequila so it's a huge disappointment and practically undrinkable. read more

This is like a candy store for adults. Wine tasting was free and really good if you are interested in trying before buying. Distillery bar had flights of their in-house liquor to try. Their barreled spirits are amazing. Prices on everything are fair and really good for what you are getting. I highly recommend going here if you are in the area! read more

The distillery is in the same complex as Door Penninsula Winery, so we could check both out. They have some spirits, such as their gin, that are free for the tasting and another package that was three tastings of their more premium products for $5 and you get your shot glass. We sampled their apple brandy, cherry bitters, brandy and whiskey. They did not disappoint on unique flavors and smooth finish. We did puchase a bottle of their single malt whiskey to add to my collection, but at $24 for 375ml, it was on the pricey side. read more

While spending this week in Door County we stopped in to check out the whisky and gin. Paid $5 for 3 samples and a shot glass. They must not get to many buying samplers because the samples were insultingly small. I love whisky but did't get enough to get a good taste. I had to look twice to see if anything was in the glass. Who needs another shot glass? Oh well. Drove to Egg Harbor and bought a bottle of 12 year old Macallan at the grocery store. read more

This was my holy grail of my Door County trip. I had been introduced to their cherry flavored vodka a few months earlier, and was anxious to check out their "Luminous Vodka!" I am a vodka fan, and love finding local places like this to break up the monotony of your Grey Goose and Tito's. This place will not disappoint - the Luminous Vodka was very flavorful, and will be a staple in my vodka collection at my house. The Cherry Flavored Vodka is fantastic with lemonade, or just some Pellegrino. I will not miss this place any time I travel to Door County! read more
