I got acrylic nails done yesterday and was very pleased . Red Nails 2 a couple blocks away made them look horrible so I brought them in here to get fixed!!! the ladies are nice and kept asking if i like the shape and length etc. They look great were done quickly. i took off one star because the nail technician answered her cell phone 3 times while she was with me and once was while I was getting the shoulder massage...she stopped abruptly to answer the phone and it was a debt collector who she hung up on. I thought that was unprofessional. I would have been more understanding if it was an emergency call or if she told me about it or apologized or something but she didn't. They need to put their personal cell phones away while they are with customers. read more

I had a very bad experience there. The polish on my toenail chipped right after I left. When I went back to get it fixed they tried to fix it just by painting over it and that chipped within hours as well. We were in there for 10 mins total for 3 people, 2 of us got gel, and my dad went in to get a hangnail removed. Hands down the WORST nail salon in Richmond. I went to get a refill with gel yesterday... however when I got home, I noticed one nail was significantly smaller than the rest of my nails. I also noticed that the gel polish was not spread around the nail at all. I previously had white gel polish where you could easily tell that on my nails STILL. So, I returned to Red Nails today after informing the owner on the phone earlier today. She said to come in and they'll fix it. I come in... not only are they completely rude... but they wanted to CHARGE ME. When i told her i was even there yesterday, she didn't believe me and asked all the associates for confirmation. Rude? All I asked was for them to fix that one nail to be at an even length with the rest of my nails. When I showed her the white old gel Polish that could still be seen.. she asked me for $20. I told her that was ridiculous considering I was in yesterday and paid $32. She then said she'll give me a deal of "$12." Sorry but if I pay $32.. I would like a perfect refill where I don't have to come in the next day. Save your money. I love this place. At Red Nails, the price and service are great. If you go online and print a coupon, you can get a mani/pedi for only $30 (but you have to pay/tip in cash). Every time I've been, it's been busy so try to go before 4PM if possible. All the techs are really nice (but only some of them can speak English). There is not a wide selection of colors, so bring your own in if you like unique colors. All in all, I've been here about 8 times and will definitely keep coming back, especially since they take their time (even with others waiting) and give you a neck massage after your manicure! read more

There are a few technicians there that do really great work however if you get stuck with one of the ones that doesn't, you are in for a not so great surprise. I'm sure there are so many sanitation violations going on in this place. That being said, I've been going to this place every two weeks for the last three years and never had an issue personally with the sanitation like I've never gotten any infections, but I am truly amazed that I haven't. My biggest complaint is that they change the price every time I go even though I'm a loyal customer they think that I don't notice. You can tell them you want a basic pedicure but then they decide for you that you in fact want a $40 pedicure and then tell you at the end that's what they gave you just totally ignoring what you told them you wanted. It doesn't matter how many times I told them I want acrylic nails they always insist on giving me "gel" which truthfully is the exact same product as their acrylic. I understand paying more for higher quality but not when they just put acrylic powder in a container that says "gel" then up-charge $10 more. If you are a kind/introverted person I would not recommend this place because they will walk all over you and could really care less about loyalty. The technician I prefer, Jenny, does my nails very well I just hate that she works in this place because it is so gross and unethically run. I really liked going here and back massages were so relaxing and unique from what other salons offer for the price.However, during my last visit the technician cut my foot with a grating device that they use other than the razor. The worst part is that she tried to cover it up by not saying anything until I felt a stinging sensation and looked at the bottom of my foot. She tried to tell me I was fine. They have great hours, which is mostly why my friend and I come here. Not many nail salons are open until 9 pm. I wish there were more choices for polish colors though. Most of the time the service is fine, but sometimes it is rushed. It is a bit cramped in there, and once they tried to do my pedicure and manicure at the same time with the manicure lady just standing in between two pedicure chairs doing my nails while I was getting a pedicure. This is the worst nail salon that I have ever been to. My usual place was busy so a friend and I went here. They wanted us to sit apart which was not the idea for a girls outing. They ended up seating us in the back room where we saw roaches scurrying away. We definitely were concerned but figured we would embrace the experience. Her nail tech was friendly and spoke a bit more english than mine did. Her nail tech spilled water on the floor which soaked her shoes and her bag (which had a professional camera in it). I never heard an apology. My nail tech was hurting me, which is not a usual thing. I get a pedicure at least once a month. They did a very subpar job on both of out nails. We expected more for a $45 pedicure. When it came time to pay, they tried to tell us that they only accept cash. My friend had cash but I did not. She tried to get me to use the ATM but I don't have an ATM card. Finally, another employee told me that they indeed DO accept credit cards. What a terrible experience! If you like to relax and have your nails look decent when you spend money at a salon, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This place is a scam. read more

This is the worst nail salon ever dont go here unless your willing to splurge on the same services you could recieve down the street for 10 dollars cheaper. I went for a pedicure it was 25 dollars, 5 dollar more than I pay at my usual spot but whatever it was only 5 dollars. Midway through the pedicure she asked if I wanted calluses remover which was an extra 5 dollars! I've never written a bad review before. I felt as if I needed to write one about this place for the safety of others. I asked for a regular pedicure. The lady who was assisting me, kept saying it was $30. I asked to see their menu so I could view the different options myself. I said I wanted the $25 regular pedicure. The lady insisted I get the $30 instead. After going back and forth she still gave me the $30 pedicure. Everything seemed relatively alright at first upon sitting in the chair. The first red flag was when she cut my toe nails with an unsanitized cuticle trimmer, instead of nail clippers. She then put some gel on my feet and began scraping the dead skin off with what looked similar to a cheese grader, but it was meant for feet. After scraping the dead skin off of both of my feet she then dumped the dead skin into the water where my feet were. I tried taking them out of the water and she pushed them back in. She then got an already wet and used purple exfoliating sponge and scrubbed my feet. After that she roughly trimmed my cuticles with an unsanitized cuticle trimmer. She then grabbed a bottle labeled "alcohol" and sprayed rubbing alcohol onto my toes, which burned quite a bit. The actual painting job she did was subpar, something I could've done myself. While I was sitting waiting for my toes to dry, she gave me a neck massage with lotion. Rather unusual for a nail salon. I had an absolutely horrible experience here. I was instantly greeted by an enthusiastic staff member who got me seated in Amanda's chair very swiftly. I surrender my coupon that I had & began to get my nails serviced. Amanda was extremely gentle, kind, and did an AMAZING job on my nails. A good number of the staff members engaged in a very sincere conversation with me, showered me with compliments, made me laugh,and just made me feel like more than just a paying customer. Went to get my dip/powder nails off. Usually would go to my regular place but didn't have time to drive out to short pump. First she tried to pop off my nails. Which is awful for your nails and will take off the top layer of the nail. I stopped her and told her I wanted them soaked off. Instead of wrapping each nail she stuck my entire hands into a bowl of acetone. It did the job but my hands are now peeling from being in acetone that long. The place was dirty and she only used one glove and clippers that came from a mystery drawer and didn't appear sterile. Oh and I was charged $10 when everyone place is $5. Moral of the story, don't go here even if it seems convenient, not worth it. read more

I did argue it and then they said the girl that did my nails would have to pay:..I argued that was wrong because she didn't quite me the price and they said they wouldn't charge and I hope they kept their word!! The first time I went was about a week before Christmas. The place was packed and I was overwhelmed by the hundreds of nail polishes they had to offer. The lady told me I could pick out the color later, which was fine by me. This was also my first fill-in, so I didn't exactly know how this was suppose to go. The tech was extremely nice and talkative. I'm more of shy quiet person. Not only was the nail engaged in conversation, but other customers as well. In my head I'd thought, "so this is what it's like to be part of the girls?" (As you can tell, I don't have much friends who are girls, let alone I'm not a girly girl.) About three weeks or a month later, I came in for another fill, since the last one went so well. I had a different nail tech, and she a wonderful job. I love how even they are. I even decided to get my first pedicure done. I wanted to see what the big deal was and by the end of it, I have converted over! I feel like I have pretty toes. I think this place is worth a two bus trip. I like the awkward back massages. The friendly environment. And, they haven't messed up my nails, so this is a keeper! read more
