The first time I went was about a week before Christmas. The place was packed and I was overwhelmed by the hundreds of nail polishes they had to offer. The lady told me I could pick out the color later, which was fine by me. This was also my first fill-in, so I didn't exactly know how this was suppose to go. The tech was extremely nice and talkative. I'm more of shy quiet person. Not only was the nail engaged in conversation, but other customers as well. In my head I'd thought, "so this is what it's like to be part of the girls?" (As you can tell, I don't have much friends who are girls, let alone I'm not a girly girl.) About three weeks or a month later, I came in for another fill, since the last one went so well. I had a different nail tech, and she a wonderful job. I love how even they are. I even decided to get my first pedicure done. I wanted to see what the big deal was and by the end of it, I have converted over! I feel like I have pretty toes. I have been coming here for a while now and today's service was terrible. I was waiting in the chair without water for 20 minutes. Once someone came over she started on my nails until another customer same in and requested her. She immediately got up and left me! I was left sitting there for another 5 mins without service. Im never going back to this place. I went to get a simple gel polish change on this past Sat and the paint is already starting to chip, keep in mind I got the gel paint so it definitely shouldn't be chipping already. On top of the horrible paint job, the lady that did my nails used a drill to get the paint off after I told her not to considering I have natural nails and not acrylic. I wish I could give this place a double 0! What a disaster! The place is crowded and not very clean. The lady I had was rude and did not respect what I asked for. I wanted the basic pedicure and she pushed and pushed for the 30$ pedicure and even lied about me having calluses on my feet so she could get more money. She was in a hurry the whole time and was not paying attention to my nails. Answering the phones and talking gibberish to her employees the whole time. She didn't even put a top coat on my toenails! they chipped the day after. Then I asked for the dip gel polish. First, they do not have many colors to choose from. When they did my pedicure, the lady CUT my toes, did not take off a hangnail as I instructed, and burned my foot with sander. My nails,, I asked her to use GEL polish.. I went in to do a mani and pedi after a long week away. I told the lady to clean on the side of my toes cause they hurt a lot. She barely even cut some of the extra skin argh, I was so mad. But I didn't say anything. After that she barely even scrubbed my heals and the side. Honestly at that point I was so mad. Then off to do my gel manicure and it was so fast of course she didn't clean much of my cuticles and she painted them so fast. She little spend like30-45 on my mani and pedi. I have been coming to this salon for over 10 years even though the service can be inconsistent. After this morning's pedicure, I will find a new salon. The technician made a personal call while giving me a pedicure and then proceeded to file the skin under my big toe. I literally yelped and pulled my foot away, which I have never done before today. She did not apologize or anything as she was on the phone. I had to remind her several times to be careful in that area as it was painful, and I could see blood under my nail. She still tried to spray alcohol on it and use the acetone to correct her polishing, and I had to pull my foot away again with the acetone. I have put neosporin on my toe in hopes that I don't get an infection. Find another salon for your pedicure! read more

I would definitely give this place less than one star if possible. I have been to tons of nail salons in the Richmond area, and as someone who gets their nails done on a weekly basis, I have to say-this place is BY FAR THE WORST nail salon in Richmond. Firstly, it's super crowded and there's barely any space at all to walk around. They also have a very limited nail polish selections. The pedicurist did a decent enough job on my toes, but she was incredibly rude and I found all of the staff to be very rude and unprofessional/not focused on their work. While I was in the nail salon, a woman CALLED THE POLICE on her nail technician because she wasn't happy with her service and they were refusing to let her leave without paying for a full set that was half finished. This caused quite the stir in the salon and all of the employees were distracted by the situation. Several employees stood around the woman as if they were making sure that she wouldn't leave. My manicurist was also really distracted and kept trying to have a conversation with me about the woman who was trying to leave and was also sitting right in front of me which I found super unprofessional and discourteous. Anywho, they locked the woman inside of the nail salon until the police showed up and she managed to go outside. I left right after the police showed up, completely disappointed, and not impressed with Red Nails. Never again. read more

I was so disappointed in my experience and the overall service received at this salon. I was taking my daughter for a birthday lunch and pedicure. I made an appointment for Saturday at 1030 and arrived early. We were rushed to pick a color. I informed the person doing my nails to please be careful since I am a diabetic. She had a smart rude comeback about not wanting a problem so of course she would be careful. She used a drill device to smooth the tops of my nails but never went back to buff them or file the edges of the nails. I had read here and saw them providing mini shoulder and neck massages with pedicure service. I was never offered one. I understand that English is a second language to most of the staff there But there was a constant loud multiple conversations going on in either Vietnamese or another Asian language. I had the definite feeling my pedicurist was not happy with me and felt there may have been a conversation going on about that. Since I was paying for 2 pedicure up graded plus tip I was upset. I thought I might be paranoid but I later confirmed my suspicion. I was hoping for a nice relaxing experience for both my daughter and myself but did not receive it. Even the polish was poorly applied, missing the tip of my big toe on my right foot. They must provide better service to others since they were fairly busy. This is the worst nail place I've ever been. It's disorganized, extremely cluttered, and dirty. The chairs are old, the padding is compromised and it's very uncomfortable to sit for a pedicure. Not a relaxing place at all. The technician convinced me to upgrade my service to help my calluses and it was ridiculous. Total pedicure lasted less than 30 minutes and she did a terrible job. It's sloppy, there's polish over my skin and parts of my nails have barely any color. I will never return and if I could give this 0 starts I would have. I stopped into this salon with my UR student who had been here before. Prior to arrival, I asked if it was a "nice" salon, she answered yes (I guess to a broke college student it is). At entry I was immediately turned off, as I saw nothing nice about it. It was overcrowded and messy. I did however notice the plastic covered pedicure bowls which made it appear that they have some regard for being sanitary. I opted against service at that time, leaving my girls for gel nails and pedicures. Upon my return, my girls were pleased and I decided to see Anna a referral for eye lash extensions. She was very personable and did a great job on both my oldest daughter and I. I was so impressed with my lashes, that I returned 2 weeks later for a different set (even though the originals were still in tact) and a much needed pedicure. She did a great job on both services and kept me well entertained. I am very picky... Anna listened, had patience and delivered! A week and a half passed and I couldn't locate my very new BCBG sandals, I called and they still had them... YAY!! I'm now even more pleased with this salon. Just as the prior reviewer, I'm also deducting 1 star for the lack of cleanliness and over all atmosphere. I will however add that the back private room is neat and clean. read more

For the price-- worth it. I got a very relaxing pedicure for $28 plus tip. The staff are all very nice and the place is definitely small and slightly too cramped, but the equipment was all clean and the pedicure was great for the price. WORST NAIL SALON IN RICHMOND! Where do I start .. Saturday I walked in, first of all one of the nail ladies was arguing with a customer about the design on her finger. The customer wanted marble and the nail lady basically was telling her no and how she needed to show her a picture before she did her nails. another lady stepped in and said how the young girl ask the lady if she can do the design and the nail lady said yes. I should have left then .... next another lady was sitting down (for what was a hour) and the nail lady asked her what she want , apparently the lady told the nail lady a few times what she wanted. The nail lady started yelling at the customer about how it's her fault she waited a hour because she didn't know what she wanted. Another customer sitting in the pedi chair told the nail lady that the customer told her a few times what she wanted and how the nail lady told her to wait right there and here it was a hour later and the customer did not get service. The nail lady got mad at the other customer for stepping in and saying how the nail lady was wrong and rude. Said she needed to mind her business. Then at the pedi station it was chaos. A lady was telling the pedi lady to stop "doing it so hard" and the nail lady said no , the customer said ma'am you are hurting me and if you don't stop I will get up and walk out. She stopped. As in stopped stopped and said she wasn't going to finish her feet. Smh . Another lady took over. You would of taught I left by now. Nope. Smh. Another lady at the counter was upset her toes did not come out right. They put an old top coat on her toes so instead of walking out with bright orange toes , her toes were a burnt orange that look old. Poor lady, she started crying because she got her toes done for her son activity and she was running late and now have bad toes (they attempted to file the color off after the lady said no , leave it) poor women walked out with 8 toes with a hideous color and two toes with filed off nail polish. Smh. And she paid. Smh. They block the door so she couldn't walk out. Oh by the way I did get my nails done and guess what , my nails broke the next day, I called to see if I can get them fix. Finally, as the manicurist was finishing my neck massage she managed to get pink nail polish all over my white blouse. She pretended to get it off, but when I removed my shirt there was still polish all over it. So I sat in the shop, practically in my bra while she scrubbed at it. This place is awful. This is my first time ever leaving a bad review for a business, but I was extremely disappointed with my experience. I typically go to Red Nails 2 and decided to try Red Nails because it has slightly higher ratings. I have NO idea how. First of all, I was completely rushed. The girl doing my nails was on her phone the entire time texting her boyfriend and telling me about her relationship drama, which I don't really care, but it wasn't exactly relaxing. She did my pedicure and gel manicure in like 40 minutes flat (which might be okay for people in a pinch, I was not in one) and did a horrible job. I have never had a gel manicure chip until over two weeks later - it has been FOUR days and an entire fingernail is chipped off. She basically put my hands under the UV light a couple of times (which defeats the purpose) and then demanded I pay her and told me to get up. I tipped her generously, so that was ridiculous. And lastly, while I was letting my toes dry at the nail dryer, one of the nail techs started SCREAMING at another for seriously probably ten minutes in the middle of the salon. Like full on. One of my toes got messed up and I was so eager to get out of there, I didn't even ask anyone to fix it. Will never come back. Can't believe this place gets as much business as it does. read more

I have yet to find an acceptable nail salon in Richmond and this was just one of many pedicure let-downs I have experienced since being here. I went to Red Nails because it was one of the few nail salons open on a Sunday. Apparently most Richmond women have plenty of time to get their nails done during the week. I do not. Red Nails has very few polish selections, so its best to bring your own, IF you go. "Ann" was my pedicurist. She was very thorough and sweet and did not give me the limp fish leg/foot massage. That was nice. However, while I was sitting in my struggling massage chair, 2 of the employees went outside and began digging through the trashcan. I have no idea what they were looking for but what I do know is that I felt certain that some labor laws were being violated if EMPLOYEES ARE DIGGING THROUGH THE TRASH. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! my coworkers bought me a gift certificate from their website. when i went to pay, they would not accept it! they kept telling me to "go on their website to redeem the gift certificate." i pulled up their website on my phone, and there was no where to redeem the gift certificate. after going around with them for 15 minutes, i finally just paid for my manicure and pedicure because they wouldn't take the gift certificate. not only was it frustrating, but extremely unprofessional that they didn't know how to redeem their own gift certificates that they sell on their website. i'm also quite certain it is illegal to sell gift cards on your website that cannot be redeemed. i have reported them to the better business bureau. read more

I can't belive I spent so much money in this salon over the past 6 months. It felt like I was in a relationship but couldn't leave because of fear of not finding better. I only chose them because they were located beside my favorite store bath and body works. Any who, I've always gotten acrylic over my natural nails with gel French tip which usually runs me $38. I've had almost all the technicians do my nails at least once. Out of like 15, I only would recommend 3. First off, the shop is very small and overcrowded it has to be some sort of fire code violation on a Friday when they're slam packed like sardines. Upon entry, it's never pleasent..it's usually someone yelling "What ya want? Pick ah color!" And you're standing there trying to figure out, who just said that so you can respond. I get my nails done every 2 weeks. Each time I go I'm hoping, praying & wishing it turns out nice. After putting up with their rush jobs, chipped nails after 1 week & old unshiny limited selection gel polish I upgraded to a new salon that takes pride in their work. I WILL NEVER RETURN, and highly recommend going elsewhere. Worst experience!!!! I went in to get a matching mani pedi. Often time they have perfect match options that have a combo of both gel and regular nail polish. I was looking for a common pale mint/blue. While they had me select the color on a sampler, once they started painting my toes with sed color, the color on my nail did not match the color on the sample set. Since the color was so off (and I mean completely different) , I opted to go for a classic light pink. Yet the color that they pulled ended up being a neon pink, again, vastly different from what I had chosen from the sampler. It took me a while to explain the fact that the color selected from the sampler was different than the color on my nails cause the lady didn't understand English. Had to play phone tag to get my point across. When she finally changed my toe nail color after selecting a normal/safe color selection (not part of the perfect match options), they told me that it would take too long to do my hand nails and that they would not have time. The entire situation was frustrating and inconvenient. I WILL NEVER RETURN, and highly suggest going elsewhere. read more

Let me preface this long review by saying DO NOT WASTE TIME AND MONEY AT THIS SALON. I came in on a Saturday afternoon for an acrylic fill and a few replacements. The one good thing was I didn't have to wait at all. I sat down and the lady was immediately rude. I hadn't even fully sat down in this cramped, dirty chair when she started pushing services. I repeatedly said I just needed a fill with regular polish. She basically told me I had to have gel. I refused but felt like she was now mad at me. The rest of the time she rushed. IT WAS $24 FOR A FILL AND SOME REPLACEMENTS. I had to leave the salon with completely wet nails. My twin sister was also with me for a gel polish change. She was also pushed services. Her nails are HORRIBLE. The polish is uneven and there are places where you can see through the polish. Overall, the technicians were rude and pushy, the salon was dirty and crowded, the services were overpriced, and the finished product was awful. Only go to Red Nails if you want to waste your time and money and feel uncomfortable the whole time. I will strongly discourage friends and family from ever stepping foot in this place. The women here are incredibly rude and untrained. They clearly had their gel colors mislabeled, to the extent that I matched my color to a color I hadn't chosen. When I warmly questioned the color I was verbally confronted LOUDLY and physically made to put my hand back under the UV lamp. The first 40 minutes I was there I was subjected to an incredibly inappropriate and jarring business discussion between the owner and what I can only surmise was a clumsy associate who enjoys knocking chairs and tables when she passes. My favorite jeans now have a lovely lighter patch on my left thigh thanks to the acetone that spilled. And don't get me started on the awkward back massages, which seem to be employed to get you to tip so you can stop squirming and get the hell out. Although the squirming doesn't end when a tip is received as the manicurist quickly counted out the money and shouted across the salon aggressively as I left. And yes, I unwisely left a handsome tip. I would say this was the worst nail experience I've had, but that doesn't seem to go far enough. No, it was the least good experience I've had in a salon and I left feeling sorry for myself. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! ** She put 5 coats of nail polish on my nails, then proceeded to beat the heck out my back as a "massage" which I'm pretty sure they're not licensed for & then she left the mess of stuff on my nails & didn't put any oil on my nails or anything. I then got my eyebrows done which the second lady rushed through as well, happy I wasn't missing a whole eyebrow when she finished. I paid, went in my car & looked at my nails again & decided to go back inside and ask for my money back. She said no this isn't a mom and pop shop someone will fix for you. She then called the police... who was confused why he was there in the first place because I did nothing wrong. The second lady looked at them and asked if I wanted the same shape & I said no. Went here because of convenience. Had never been and am not going back. Wanted a simple polish change, sign in the window clearly says $8. So I went inside and chose a color and sat down. They charged me first, which is no big deal, however she charged me $10. I told her sign said $8. She just shook her head no and said $10. Well, there goes her tip. Inside it is crowded and dirty...You could not fit one more chair/station in there. And if someone has to walk down the row you're sitting in, even after you move up as much as possible (without using your hands of course) I guarantee they are bumping you. I'm also pretty sure the nail color was very "thinned out". Had 3 coats and color was still a little "see through" in areas. The drying station is a joke....light bult on one whole side was out and the electrical wires are visible with connectors holding them together, not effectively apparently....and dirty, just like the rest of the place. There must be very little competition in that area as there were half a dozen clients in there (though only about 1/5 of what they are set up for). It is not a pleasant place to go, it is overpriced, little switch and bait going on with the prices, and not at all clean and comfortable. SMH read more

So I just want to start by saying I downloaded this app just to write this review. It was that bad. First of all who wants to go to a nail salon where they are rude, and by rude I mean to me and my four year old. We both sat down for a pedicure (just her toes painted) and the chair leaked or something and got my purse, her hat and jacket soaked. They made me feel like somehow it was my fault or I was the inconvenience for having a purse, jacket, hat, etc. I asked where their other place was we will go there and they just started to do our nails with no response. I'm not a rude individual so I let it go but soon as they were finished my daughter burnt her finger drying her polish under the light. She was screaming crying and they showed no concern what so ever. This place is not okay and I would hate to have someone else have the same experience as we did.
