This is my first time coming to this place. Ambiance: the place is very dingy looking and air circulation is very poor. Overall place seems dirty and not very clean. Construction is much needed in the booths where the tables are so small and inconveniently unreachable from the seats. Hence overall uncomfortable. Drinks: We had to send the lemonade back due to suspicious floating particles. Hookah: the charcoal was old and not properly lit. It was literally burning. Posting this review mostly just because I know I'm clearly not the standard clientele, but there may be someone else out there like me so wanted to post some tips/heads up. This spot is clearly frequented by under 21s/the much younger crowd- which is totally fine! I'm in my early 30s so I'm not exactly ancient but definitely past the majority demographic. That being said, I wanted to find a nice chill authentic hookah spot near my apartment (this was like a 25 min walk but the closest option). Full disclosure: I used to live on Steinway St in Astoria so I'm fairly biased yet also aware that it's hard to find comparisons to what is available there. For me, an ideal hookah lounge is: chill, relaxed, good vibes. I smoke hookah to chill and unwind, tbh. I like spots that play relaxing music or at least not hype/turnup music since personally I think it's contradictory. I'm not a huge fan (anymore) of clubs/lounges that are basically dance clubs that happen to have hookah. I prefer the more "traditional" experience of a middle eastern spot with hookah, tea, no liquor, etc. But that's just me. That being said, Red Mist had pros and cons for me. It's open late, it's very simple and small which I like/don't mind. The service is great- a handful of guys working there that are all very attentive with taking orders/checking on coals, etc. Really nice and professional. The hookah itself is decently priced (one flavor is $15. Not the cheapest either but certainly not unreasonable). It's v. strong. Not so strong that it's harsh and difficult to smoke, but definitely much more intense than I'm used to. I didn't hate it though. The crowd was def on the younger side as I said but nothing obnoxious at all, at least not on the night I went. Everyone was just having a good time with their friends, playing cards, chilling, etc. My one bigger complaint (and again this may just be my preference): the music is loud and much better suited for a lively club atmosphere (i.e. hip hop/dance music). Not music that I dislike by any means, but for me personally it doesn't fit the ambiance I'm looking for in a relaxed hookah lounge. Ultimately, I would go back if I were in the neighborhood craving hookah, but it's not my top choice overall :( read more

I go here pretty often when I am in the mood to just smoke hookah and kill time. The hookah is reaaaally good. Also, the prices are good too. On a good day, you will get your hookah in less than 10 minutes and you will get your coal changed without having to ask. On a bad day, the hookah takes 3 years to come out and you have to go on a wild goose hunt to get more coal because the servers disappear. I wouldn't eat from here and I don't find their drink menu appealing. They don't serve alcohol so this isn't the place to come to if you want a few drinks, which kind of sucks. But on the flip side, this place is very laid back and chill, so the liquor license would probably change the whole dynamic of the place in a negative way. Anywho, try the prann, purple haze, blue mist, and mint! I haven't found better hookah anywhere in the city yet. read more

So I came here expecting to really enjoy myself and was totally disappointed. I don't like to judge the book by its cover so that's why I stopped here. Judging from the outside I did not find it favorable but even still I decided I would take a chance and go ahead and enjoy my day. The outside posted a New York City capital A rating. Sidebar I wonder if the city still cracks down on businesses that pay employees of the city to give them grades undeserving? If they are judging just by the handling of the food and not the hookahs perhaps because if they were judging by the inside of this Lounge and hookah they should have been given a D. Now I have been to a number of hookahs Lounge some I posted some I have not but this is definitely not the lounge 4 the Savvy. The ventilation system was absolutely horrible there is a fan that sits in the window which I'm going to show you a picture of that exhaust however one fan cannot properly extract the Vapes from 10 or more people blowing smoke at one time. The actual Taste of the hookahs I had was horrible the flavor did not taste anywhere as advertised. A guy and his three friends were sitting in the place the guy commented that his hookahs tasted like perfume. I just don't understand it. I did not enjoy any food for I did not eat because they did not have anything that I eat. How is it you cannot have a vegetarian platter as the majority of us are trying to be health conscious and even if not for that reason just the reason that it would be nice to have some leafy vegetables? So moving right along the young man who assisted me by preparing my hookahs was a friendly staff member the young lady also was a friendly staff member hence the reason for 2 Stars. The furniture in some of the booth if that's what you want to call them we're torn ,the wall needed to be repaired ASAP there was scratches ,wall painting remove and slashes that shows the interior of the drywall. If you think that's bad the worst of the worst is at first I thought they allowed the couple that was sitting next to me to play ratchet, disrespectful, hip-hop that included slang and cursing and the use of the N-word. Now please don't get it confused I'm not saying that hip hop is ratchet not at all .I'm saying The Hip Hop that includes derogatory words is ratchet and it has its place but a public place where a person pays to enjoy themself at a lounge that is not private should not be the place where it's played. ANYWAY WHEN THE COUPLE departed I realized the music continued to play it was the ESTABLISHMENT playing this disrespectful unappreciated music. If you're going to open up a cafe to the public at least get the clean version of the record to play if it was a private event and this is what the person requested then do whatever the heck you want to do. Not everyone thinks that the N-word is a word that can be openly used and be appreciated or found as a term of endearment. It is to the owners benefit to change their policy if they feel it's okay to PLAY music like this while the public is in their establishment then it's okay for me to write upon it as well as to inform others to read my comment and make their decision as to whether or not a place like this is where they choose to enjoy themselves. There are plenty of places around and I know for certain two places that I will definitely visit again and this is certainly nowhere next to being on the top list of hookah bars or lounge to enjoy while in New York. You cannot get me to come back here ever again . I suggest that if you want to enjoy yourself in a clean environment where you do not have to listen to degrading music that refers to women as bitches and to men as the N word then please seek somewhere else. Also they never check my ID. So if the city is giving a then the city needs to come down here and watch this place from the outside and see whether or not the establishment checks everyone coming in to have a hookahs. Trust you made any comment that is left here defending this establishment about music, lounge chairs or their walls has got to be part of the establishment somehow. Pictures don't lie. Update: 5 Years later - Red Mist remains king of hookah in Brooklyn. Within this time frame a few other lounges had popped up but failed to remain relevant. They had short lifespans but Red Mist is still around. With the main reason being good consistent hookah. The prices are fair and they offer a good variety of flavors for all types of smokers. The finger foods they have are solid too, the wings, fries, and mozzarella sticks are all worth a try. What I don't like is that, It can get really packed inside which is unpleasant, it gets really cloudy to the point you may get a headache and just want to escape to fresh air. Also they added $20 minimum, which sucks for regulars who order a classic flavor. Who carries cash anymore? read more

Nefew!! (nephew?) The worker was boss. Made sure my time was comfortable, was knowledgable about the hookah offerings and flavors, and changed coals regularly. One of the most recommended hookah spots in BKLN by friends, I finally made it out there and it was a good experience. The customer service was good as they were attentive and prompt. Not familiar with some their house concoction flavors, my original choice was not too favorable, yet they were willing to change the hookah head for a new flavor without an additional charge, which was awesome. The blue paan hookah and mango paan were the favorite in the group. They offer some great drinks and food items, including the masala fries that are decent when accompanied by their house fruit punch. Overall, the place is dark, smoky, and priced nicely. read more

I went back and this time brought more friends and tried more hookah. They actually have fruit hookah where you are basically smoking hookah out of a pineapple or orange. They also take special orders where they gut a watermelon and use it to make a hookah flavor. INSANE. We once again had the hummus but also tried a chicken kebab sandwich which was really good and spicy. The staff was super cool as usual. They even let one guy place his own music from his Ipod! I give this place 5 stars for: 1) Great hookah. 2) Super friendly staff. 3) Prices that will not drain your wallets/purses (at all). 4) Fantastic layout of the lounge, the garden (and the tidy bathroom). 5) Entertaining and relaxing atmosphere. This is one of the best places to go to for Hookah in Brooklyn. I've been coming here since it started 10 years ago and the quality has always been great. The staff is especially hard working and hospitable to your every want. Their Nutella Milkshakes are amazing. Overall, what sets it apart from other places is the atmosphere. This is a lounge which specializes on making the customer feel like they're right at home. So, I walked by this place a couple of times and u can barely see anything that is going on inside- which I admired when I got into the place- I felt a sense of privacy!!! I admired the atmosphere and the decoration and colors of the place as well as furniture. A nice place to chill with friends or even a date. The music-was like Bollywood heaven! The atmosphere- awesome The seating- lovely THE HOOKAH! - yummy! I loved how Sahil and mahim (I believe that's how I spell their names) were very attentive and also attentive to my hookah whenever I needed coal! Lol Sahil hooked up my hookah as I trusted him with it and I loved it- he mixed cherry, pomegranate, and I believe strawberry together on a regular head and it was yum! My friends were in town from Chicago and we were sitting around at home having drinks when they decided they needed a hookah fix. So, I looked up some places in my area and found this place. The parking outside was pretty horrible but I happened to snag a spot. We walked in to a smoked filled room with a mix crowd. After all, it is a hookah spot. We were greeted right away and given menus. They were all different types of flavors, and my friend decided on Purple haze, hookah of course. She described it as a stronger mint flavor, not sweet in taste. Most of the crowd were playing board games, dominoes or watching the basketball game on the television while music was playes in the background. They also serve up non alcoholic powdered drinks like lemonade and ice tea. so don't think your going to get a double buzz here. read more

I live in Brooklyn and I was looking for a good hookah lounge closer than the city and Steinway street. This place is awesome and not only does it have a great selection of hookahs, it also has lots of different drinks (non-alcoholic), smoothies, coffees, teas, desserts, and appetizers. I live in Long Island so Red Mist is a little far for me however I was dragged out by some friends to go there. I didn't feel like going, however I am really GLAD that I did. Location is good in the sense the parking was easy to find. We were a party of 4, so they sat us down on these couches - it was like having an individual booth - nice and comfy. Music was great and they had the right atmosphere in the place - you felt the energy when you walked in. We were seated and instantly we had 2 people helping us with the order and stuff. One of them was the owner and when he found out that we drove out from Long Island he really took care of us. We tried their Special Paan masala and Queen of Sex. Simply put - BOTH WERE AMAZING. The owner offered us a deck of cards so we ended up playing cards till like 2AM. Stuff was really courteous and warm. They kept changing the coal without being asked. We also tried their Kebab Rolls and Kati Roll. Both were really good - they were fresh and warm. Also - their TEA is out of this world. The guys name who made the tea was Shoaib. He made 8 cups of tea for us and they were outstanding. I have been to lots of Seesha lounges however this place was great. You get the personal attention and their PAAN MASALA is out of this world. First of all, this lounge is "GRADE PENDING."... I came here with four friends on a Thursday night. We first walked in and it was so foggy. It was a little hard to make out what was going in. Three minutes in and your eyes will adjust to the darkness. We ordered two hookahs, $18 for a mix between the Classic and their Premiums (Melon and White Peach) and one Premium (Honeydew) which was $18 or $20. It's a pretty small lounge you were just breathing in smoke left and right. Even in the shady bathroom in the back you would be breathing in something. Our hookahs were prepared about 15 minutes later. The flavors were decent, only the Honeydew had a distinct flavor. It lasted for about 2 hours and the bill came out to be around $45. When we left my boyfriend found out why this place is grade pending. Apparently in the last sanitary inspection, they found traces of mice and the place did not meet the cleanliness standards. I have been looking to contact the owner of this place for a few days. On the night of the 23rd of december at 10:30 -10:40 pm two illegal withdrawals from my bank account were made. Im not even near brooklyn. In total those transactions summed up nearly $500.00 which emptied all the savings I had. I live in park slope and thought I would try a new hookah bar. Mistake. Red mist was probably one of the worst experiences of my young life. When you smoke hookah you are relaxing not wanting to have a rave. They had a disco ball and really loud shitty music. Nothing about it was relaxing.
