Came here on a Saturday as part of the summer tippler. I was surprised by how empty it was for a Saturday, but I'm not one to complain when it benefits me. Less people means more seats and faster service. Decided to have a seat by the bar since the visit would be short. The vibes were pretty chill and I enjoyed the music playing in the background. The customer service was nothing out of the ordinary. Ordered the Gems Punch (which is just a rum punch); it was pretty good. I noticed they serve hookah here for all you hookah heads. Hookah is not my thing but I do plan to return with my bestie as I know she likes hookah. I also want to try the food. The guava wings caught my eye and I wouldn't mind trying them. I went here last night for cinco de mayo first of all they charged something like $35 online for a ticket for this "event", i get there and the place is like mostly empty but almost all the tables are reserved. So not a great first impression bc the spot is dead but we still can't get a seat...what kind of "lounge" expects you to eat, smoke hookah etc standing up? But anyway we ordered food and drinks and tried to enjoy the vibes. They weren't playing any Latin music for a Cinco de Mayo event which was disappointing but whatever I was still trying to enjoy it. Me and my friends were minding our own business and dancing....then we noticed the table full of middle aged women right next to us seemed to be making fun of us and taking videos of us dancing?? Flash on and everything?? Instantly the vibe was ruined and we were super uncomfortable... we left shortly after bc we weren't trying to get in a fight. So yeah don't come to this place trying to have fun bc their patrons will film you like you're a zoo animal or something. It was a bad energy in this place coming off of everybody. Never experienced something like that before in my life. Will never be coming back here. I gave them 2 stars bc they let u smoke indoors which is lit. otherwise i was not feeling it. read more

Pros: + Great atmosphere - well decorated + Great Happy Hour options (but be careful with the prices) + Variety of chicken wings - try to Guava flavored wings Cons: - Completely empty during Happy Hour around 6-7 pm - I was the only person here - Mislabeled prices - please be careful when you come here. Someone marked up the price on the register compared to what was on the menu. I was charged another roughly $7 compared to the listed price. Right off the metro. DJ was on point the whole night. My only complaint is the hookah, felt like i waited an hour for a half used hookah.

This place sucks. The music is way too loud, the drinks are trash, and the dudes in here are creepy. Our wings were super burnt and the server even commented on how bad they were! They didn't offer a refund or replacement. Everything was overpriced and terrible. I hope this place closes soon and a better spot shows up. What a waste of a Friday night and $50. read more

I came here last night based on the reviews and pictures. WORST MISTAKE EVER. There was a $20 cover for my friend and I, no problem. The man at the door takes our money and says "by the way, we don't have chairs " not only was it empty in there, but they didn't have chairs for people to sit in. The $20 must be going towards a large chair order from Amazon. Don't waste your time going here until they figure out the door situation and purchase chairs for the patrons. Lets start with the drinks, way over priced for the area and crowd (and they are not very good). I don't get the décor at all, it looks like a space where you would rent to have a baby shower, def does not give lounge or bar vibes. The staff, looks unenthused, tired and ready to go! You cant start a tab, everything has to be paid for upfront, which is super annoying. and actually discourages from re ordering because i don't want to have to pay a second time. This place is trash. The wings were hard as I don't know what. The carrots and celery taste much better. They charged us 17 dollars for a drink that didn't even have top shelf liquor!! They had the nerve to ask for more money for top shelf. The empanadas taste like sofrito. No type of seasoning. The music was all wrong for the audience. Not sure why this place has negative reviews. This is definitely my go to spot when I visit New York. It's Black owned. The music is definitely a vibe. The food is amazing. The drinks will definitely give you a nice buzz. Customer service is great. They have game night, karaoke, they hold different events to keep customers entertained. I've referred several people, who love this spot just as much. If you're in New York, definitely visit this new urban lounge. You won't regret it. read more

Finally had a chance to check this place out and I am glad I did. It was a balmy day when my friend from out of town and I desperately needed the hair of the dog after a night of Jameson revelry (don't do it!!) We were told that Happy hour started at 4 by a very polite young lady so of course we skipped down the street hand in hand excited about having a nice cold drink. I must say I saw a lot of young people setting up and working there and they were all professional. You are to go inside and place your order at this table near the entrance and pay as well then you take a table number and they will bring your food out shortly along with your drinks in these plastic cups. Simple enough. The jerk wings for me weren't spicy but then again I'm a thug so I'm built for that. My friend wasn't too fond of her tacos but who cares what she thinks am I right? It was a very calming chill experience being able to sit outside and observe the street and pedestrians and for $6 a Happy Hr cup I'm not complaining. This is a Gem!!!! Just like the name. Came by on a weeknight and was taken care if even though it was packed they got us seats. Service was great, food was amazing. I love Gems. That's my go to lounge. The prices are low but the vibes always high. The food taste great. They give fresh tubes with every hookah now with covid that's important. It's big so social distance is always in affect. The staff is healthy and sexy. The djs keep me moving. What more can u ask for. Oh and they have the nerve to give happy hour discounts. The people that work there are rude, we was sitting at a booth for over 2 hours before a man in a yellow hat came and just took our stuff off the table while sitting still telling us this booth was paid for , for bottle service, like shouldn't that have been explained before we got to sit there, that was very rude and the people I came with was disgusted at how he handled the situation.
