Driving North from Florida, we wanted dinner and preferred not fast food, but good food served efficiently. Well we hit that out of the park by ending up at The Oil Lamp. My friend had the chicken & mashed potatoes (these are the real deal!!). I had the beef tips on gravy over mashed potatoes. We shared sides of braised cabbage that had a fair amount of garlic - I will be thinking about it, yes thinking about cabbage - first time for everything. We also shared creamed corn and this is NOT from a can. The corn was so sweet and there was a crunch to it, which only fresh corn can give. Everything looked delicious. I eyed those desserts, but I'd finished my plate and just no more room. I live like 4 hours away, but I'm hoping to time my return trip to return to this gem. This isn't fancy, it's good food that has been cooked by chefs that know how to cook old school. Last note - generous portions.

Definitely thought it was going to have a lot more corn though. And there was also black beans in it. What would make it a 10: more corn, no beans. Santa Fe eggrolls 8/10 "Three crispy egg rolls stuffed with seasoned chicken, sweet corn, melted cheeses, and peppers. Served with our smoky chipotle ranch for dipping." - Good flavor. One of the egg rolls was completely empty. Also nowhere in this description does it say black beans but there was black beans in them- won't order again because of this. What would make it a 10: no beans, and make sure they all have something inside. Grown-Up Dilla 7/10 "A golden grilled flour tortilla stuffed with a blend of jack and cheddar cheeses, fire-roasted jalapeños, roasted corn medley, and tender grilled chicken. Served with your choice of dipping sauce." - got the jalapeños on the side. Lots of cheese. Little chicken. Definitely could have been grilled a little crispier. And again- black beans- gross!! Dipping sauce we chose was the Chipotle ranch- yum, and a none-to-mild spice level! What would make it a 10: more chicken, no beans. Super upset that everything I ordered had black beans in it and NOWHERE in the menu descriptions said that there was black beans in ANYTHING. Had they included it on the menu and I had known each of these dishes had beans- I would have never ordered any of this food and would have picked other menu items without beans in them.

Disappointing, but I understand and quickly assessed my lunch options. We decided to order an appetizer and then split a lunch plate. For the appetizer we got the loaded fries, since they were hand cut as we were sitting there. Overall the loaded fries were okay. I think they went too heavy on the cheese and the other noticeable thing was that the cinnamon in the chili was a little stronger than I would have liked. For lunch it was a Big Sexy Burger which had a double burger, pimento cheese, bacon jam and maybe some other stuff. But those items mentioned sold me on trying it. My only criticism about the burger would be the pimento cheese, it seemed to be heavy on the mayo and not as much cheese, but overall a decent burger. WORST MEAL WE HAVE EVER HAD! !!! When we lived in Macon we would take my grandmother to the Red Lobster location on Riverside Drive and never had a bad experience. My husband and I agreed that this meal from the Perry location was the WORST we had ever had. 1. The stuffed mushrooms were greasy and the mushrooms were bland. 2. The lobster in the lobster bake was overcooked, there was no seasoning on the scallops and the pasta was just oily and tasteless. 3. My husband's steak was not seasoned at all and was way overcooked. He asked me to take a bite and I had to spit it out. I think this meal might have ruined Red Lobster for us forever. When we asked the restaurant to make things right they refused to do anything about it. read more

I said to myself that I wanted to go, my daughter searched this restaurant and said that she wanted to go. How weird is this, all by coincidence that my daughter would choose this restaurant, not a clue from me, so we ended up here. We had our father and daughter outing with intimate conversation. I heard that the Eggs Up Grill franchise is up and coming, serving an all-American breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Offering something new and exciting with 13 franchises in Georgia alone, as of 9/7/2026 but 110 locations throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Eggs Up Grill's primary focus is breakfast, brunch, and lunch with operating hours from 6 AM to 2 PM. My Elite tip would be, get there early as this place tends to draw crowds. On my visit, my daughter and I came in and there was a wait. The hostess took our name and number and we monitored the list. There is standing room and people are taking advantage of that. We chose to wait in the car. We did inquire of the status and were told that the kitchen had a hold. Like I said, Eggs Up Grill drew a crowd and that caused the kitchen to be delayed due to production. I am guessing everyone was ordering pancakes. lol , just kidding but seriously speaking, there was not one seat empty. Waves of groups poured in, groups of 2,3,4,5, or 6. This all sounds intimidating right, and can be. If you said no it doesn't, how about 1 waitress to 7 tables, filled? Moving forward, we were now seated and this restaurant was bright, like sunlight. The scheme was fascinating, it was warm and welcoming creating a more relaxed aesthetic, all the while inspiring joy. Our waitress was Kimbree. I don't know much about Kimbree because we just met but she is very humorous. I asked her name and the spelling and then I introduced myself. My daughter immediately placed her order and Kimbree stood there smiling. "She was patiently waiting for my daughter to introduce herself. I loved the non verbal communication from Kimbree, my daughter caught on quickly and introduced herself. Kimbree is a people person and very sociable. She reads the room well and she is very attentive. She made sure that we had everything that we needed, I watched her interactions with other guests as well. Kimbree was focused and committed. I loved how Kimbree informed her guests that they were out of mimosa, instead of waiting for them to ask. Our Meal* Biscuit and Gravy Breakfast- Two buttermilk biscuits topped with sausage gravy and egg. $8.99- the biscuits were really delicious and not heavy, the egg was just shy of being wet, They were soft and moist. The chef was shy about the gravy, maybe the chef wanted the gravy to last for the last hour because baby!!!! That gravy was portioned like it was on a diet. Goodness Gracious Omelet- egg white omelet with spinach, onions, mushrooms, and feta cheese topped with sliced tomatoes. $11.99. I should have sopped up the gravy from the omelet with the biscuit. There was entirely too much gravy in the omelet. But a better question is, why is there gravy in an omelet . The Grand Classic- Two eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, home fries, and grits with substitutions allowed. $unknown My daughter said the grits needed seasoning. Grits egg and bacon $unknow- pretty tasty. Pancakes $unknown House coffee and a Cafe Moca The service from Kimbree was phenomenal. The food selection was not the worst. I would like to come again and order something entirely different. I am sure they can get 5 stars all around because the service was 5 stars but the food was 2 1/2 stars. Inspire more, Yelp more!
