Horrible service and barely any accountability. My father ordered food via this location's listed phone number for my mother's birthday. When my father picked up the order he asked the server to confirm that all food was present. The server verbally confirmed that all foods were there and the items were marked off the items with a marker on the receipt. When my father came in with the food we immediately saw that this order was missing items plus the biscuits were not properly packaged and almost hit the floor when removing them from the bag. We went over the receipt, only to see the items missing were not marked like the others. We called this location three times and asked for a manager only to be hung up on. So we called today and finally got a manager named Cheyenne. My father tells Cheyenne the issues of not getting the items he ordered plus getting the run around when asking to speak to a manager. Come to find out Cheyenne was the manager last night as well. When asked who we spoke to last night, we spoke to Melanie and she claims that no worker goes by that name and that we got transferred to a Colorado call center. How we got a Colorado call center from a Matthews, NC number to place an order is beyond comprehension. So as my father is still explaining what happened and what can be done Cheyenne catches an attitude and I had to step in on the conversation and get to the point of some form of resolution because Cheyenne the Manager was not trying to come to a viable solution. She would then say that my father and I were yelling and ganging up on her which was far from the case. I asked her for a solution to which she would reply she would refund us the money and that is great. But to give us the runaround, unnecessary attitude, and no accountability is not gonna fly. On top of that, she did not want to give us her name when we first called. I didn't want to write this review but this is not the first time my family has ordered from this location and has had missing items from the order and lackluster service. This is first time ive been to a Red Lobster in several years mainly because there are so many non-chain restaurants to choose -but i do like RL varied seafood selections -and Lobsterfest-so decided to try again for my lobster fix. I was not disappointed. I had the dual Lobster and spouse had choose two shrimp. We agreed that everything was surprisingly delicious, well prepared, served hot, (kudos to the chefs) and as expected including being fair priced. Also -this location was clean, neat, with menus and utensils readily available at seating. We also had margarita and beer which were great. Darrin was our server and was cheerful and welcoming not only to us but to his other tables as well. The only suggestion I would have is that the service was a little slow. We were there ahead of rush with only a few diners but observed that the hostess and servers tended to be in the back and we were left waiting awhile for our check and observed others waiting for food, etc. Just a little reminder that someone should be minding the dining area to offer service if needed. read more

I go to this location from time to time to take advantage of their specials. I went there to get the lobster roll lunch special but my waitress talked me out of it cause she said ppl were complaining about it's size (too small). So I switched up to the lobster tacos which I ate at the restaurant and then I got the lobster pizza to go. When I got home the pizza was cold and not very good. I've had it at the restaurant and it's good when it comes out hot, but what I did was I warmed the oven to 300 and put it in the oven for 10 mins and brought that pizza back to life. Once we ordered, the server came back to tell us they were out of mozzarella sticks. We tried to substitute with something else and was told no until we asked for a manager. We had ordered a Caesar Salad as the appetizer and we waited and waited. After 30 minutes, the order finally came out. It was 1 scoop of mashed potatoes and a child size portion of salmon. I had a fabulous experience with my mom at this restaurant. We went for lunch Saturday at 12:45pm and were greeted at our table by the friendliest waiter, Darion B, who made sure we were in and out in 45 minutes. Our food came out very quickly, he got all of the details of our order correct, and asked us if we wanted anything boxed or a cup of water to go. Darion is a wonderful server and this Red Lobster is lucky to have him on the team. I also enjoyed that the manager came by and asked how we were (which was excellent). Five stars for service. Four stars for food (came out very quickly, good temperature). Lunch portion of crab linguini Alfredo is still very filling; I was plenty full with the salad and could have taken half of the Alfredo to go (which I would have if I was going home). This is a good Red Lobster with a great location and great service. I recommend it for lunch. Start to finish you can have a filling and quality lunch in 45 minutes. I have not been inside a Red Lobster since the days when I used to go with my family as a child back in the late '90s. Back then I used to think it was such a treat for a Friday night dinner, but as I got older my palette changed and expanded. Yet, I always retained the fond memories of the seafood smell and pressing my face against the glass tank in order to get a better view of the live lobsters in the lobby. Since they had their grand opening yesterday for this new location in Matthews, I wanted to try them out for nostalgia's sake, so when my friends asked me to join them I was ready to go. This new location's décor is part of the Red Lobster's parent company's, Darden Restaurants, new concept for the brand. Gone is the stodgy look of the past; in its place is a nautical-inspired look that evokes its faux New England marine time heritage. Despite being busy, we were quickly seated and our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. I had the typical lobster with vegetables and it also came with pasta and shrimp. The food was fine, but I felt that there was a little too little of the lobster and a lot more of the shrimp and everything else. (They lost a star right there.) The lobster pieces that I could find were pretty decent. The vegetables were cooked evenly and sautéed just right while the pasta was tender and delicious. It was reasonably priced for a seafood dish containing lobster. Overall the food was good, but not necessarily outstanding, but good enough to want to go there once in a while. The Red Lobster feels like a perfect place for families with its kid-friendly menu, and judging from the many children I saw last night it was mostly a family affair. The Red Lobster makes you think back to when you were a child all over again, but sometimes nostalgia is not enough of a pull to become a regular customer. We decided to go for the endless shrimp promotion because we had gift cards. We showed up around 3:45pm on a Tuesday and it was understandably quiet. They had also sent a coupon for a free lobster pizza appetizer, which is what inspired our visit. Our waitress was great. She got food and drinks to us quickly and was on top of the reordering process. I had been excited to try the fiesta shrimp, which was fried with queso cheese and pico de gallo, but it was actually my least favorite. The grilled sesame shrimp, shrimp Alfredo, and shrimp scampi were the best options. For $17.95 the endless shrimp is a great deal and worth checking out while it's running. read more

Don't listen to those reviews guys! I don't know if they had a stroke of bad luck or anything but you won't regret your time here. I came with a party of three and I ordered the Salmon New Orleans which can only be described as amazing. The outside is crunchy, but the inside melts in your mouth like butter. The flavors were well balanced and it wasn't oversalted at all. Unlike the other reviews, my server was great. She was friendly, approachable, and seemed like she actually wanted to be there. She even remembered to throw in a fresh slice of lemon & lime when she refilled my drink! Had a chance to go here today for lunch and I left more than happy with my meal. I sat at the bar and received excellent service from the young lady working. She was quick to greet me and was efficient every step of the dining process. I especially liked that she was quick to grab me some warm cheese bread. She didn't "pretend" she forgot or didn't know that stuff is like crack and that's why people come to Red Lobster in the first place!!! I digress...so the service was great. So, yeah, the bread was good, the cup of clam chowder I ordered for an app. was great, and I would recommend it to anyone, even if your not a big chowder fan. I did the whole build your own meal thing, and chose the steak (for a $2 up-charge) and the shrimp alfredo with a side a fries; yea I know, kinda carb-heavy. All the food tasted great and was up to my expectations. My only complaint was that the portions were a little light for $19. When I want lobster & don't want to pay an arm & a leg for it I go to Red Lobster. This location has quality of food as the Matthews one, so I don't feel gypped there, but the restaurant itself, meh. The bar staff & area isn't very customer friendly. It's also got a weird pass-thru from the kitchen to the bar that's open to the bar area & it's noisy & you can hear everything every server is saying coming in & out of the kitchen with their food. There's an ice machine right there as well as a frozen drink blender & it's NOISY! The staff also don't pay attention to you because they're always talking with each other at this pass-thru. I wish they'd update the bar area a bit at least. I'm sure the rest of the restaurant is typical. read more

Tasteless in every sense of the word. Briefly, I thought about leaving it at that but I figured an explanation for the above statement is warranted. We had a party of 4 plus two toddlers. Seated immediately on a Saturday around prime time lunch but that's because the place was practically empty and also because of the "no one", our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The waitress was cordial at best. Not friendly. Also, she hands me my plate and tells me it's "warm". Yeah, not at all warm. It was uncomfortably hot and I almost dropped it. But it was only super hot on one side. Too long under the heat lamp, uh, but just the one side. Not too quick on the drink refills either and we had to be her only table because of the aforementioned "no one". I ordered broiled flounder. It tasted like a soggy rice cake and it was barely warm. No taste. No texture. The vegetable medley was just ok. My salad tasted as if it came from one of those pre-mixed salad bags you get at the store. Granted, it was fresh but it was mainly a bowl of iceburg lettuce, diced unripen tomatoes, one very small slice of purple onion, and diced cucumber. Uneventful. All in all, I left feeling hungry and unsatisfied. Will not be returning to the ol' Red Lobster anytime soon. read more

Personally I love Red Lobster and have usually had very good experiences or at least at the one in Flint, MI! My husband and I were so excited that a Red Lobster was going to be right down the road from us. We quickly found out that this place had a lot to learn! The staff was not very friendly and more concerned with socializing than checking on their tables. Our waitress messed up simple things with our order, did not check on us to see how the food was, and did not refill our drinks. As for the meal, the biscuits were dry and old tasting. This was my first visit to the location. What a refreshing difference from the Gastonia location. Although we had a fairly long wait (45), which is not unexpected on a Saturday night, I felt it was worth the wait. Went here for LobsterFest, and was pleasantly surprised that at 9:30, they still had everything we ordered. My mojito was delicious; our server very attentive and well informed about the menu. The food was fresh and well presented. I really was impressed with the level of service we received, especially given how packed the place was that night. read more

They opened around spring and I've been here maybe three times? Some of the wait staff needs to be more attentive and welcoming. I was seated near the bar area and our server came only to take orders, give us the food and to hand the check. He never checked for refills or if we had any issues. We had to flag him down just to get the check. Other times, the servers were great. I've had better food from other Red Lobsters.
