I had a much better experience this time around! The service was excellent and all the food came out fresh! We tried the 2 premium and 2 classic selections and honestly loved it. It was the perfect size to share with another person! The lobster was delicious. Had a harder time with the snow crab legs so probably would try to steal next time. Shrimp as usual tasted great! Service was good but the food was awful! We got endless soup and salad. The Caesar salad was ok but the clam chowder was awful. Arrived room temp so sent back. Waiter told us they changed suppliers. Clam chowder did not taste like clams at all, watered down broth with tiny pieces of undercooked potato and celery and what was supposed to be clams I guess but no flavor and was just gristle! I sent it back and asked for the lobster bisque. Tasted like flour and milk! No flavor. Their wonderful biscuits are now like pancakes with no taste! Flat and no flavor. This use to be the place to go for great service and fish food. But they have gone thru so many bosses and employees that you can't get good service. The fish has gotten so thin that you are mostly eating their crunchy covering. The place is looking really run down now. The entrance has rotting wood steps that look like you might fall thru. The interior always look dirty. The lobster tank up front where they have the live lobster on display looks murky and discolored. Red Lobster - Champaign This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We waited nearly two hours for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was a complete disaster. Several meals were burnt--charred to the point they were barely edible. The fish sandwich had no seasoning and wasn't even fully cooked. To make matters worse, they switched out the sides we originally ordered without even asking or informing us. The substitutions were made without consent, and no effort was made to accommodate our preferences. Two of us didn't even eat our food because it was just that bad. While the server was kind, that was the only decent part of the experience. After we kindly and candidly expressed our concerns to the manager, he showed no accountability, no concern, and made no attempt to fix the situation. His lack of professionalism only made the experience more frustrating. This was a total failure on every level. "Poor" would be too generous. Compared to most Red Lobster branches, this one was disappointing. I usually love the biscuits, but the ones we got were not fresh. Food was mediocre. One major "minus" was the leaking roof. Server said it had been a problem every time there's rain, but apparently the owner doesn't care. We went to Champaign Illinois for lunch with our grown children on Black Friday , we do every year. The server seemed very sweet, no front teeth. She didnt acknowledge us for a bit, then finally came and got our drink orders. There were 6 of us. One of the kids was late from shopping. 2 of us ordered the margarita flights. She brought everyone's drinks but our margaritas . Prob at least 30 minutes later she came and took our food order. We still had not brought our margaritas. She brought my salad, still no drink. Overall the experience wasn't awful , but definitely not great. The food tasted mediocre,and our server looked like she hated her job. We were celebrating a graduation and had made a reservation in advance, saying we would have 10-20. On the day of, we called when they opened and said we'd have 13. We were told we didn't have a reservation at all, so they made us a new reservation. Upon arrival, the manager was rude and made a point to tell us that she had called in an extra cook and waiter for our group of 20. We did everything to properly communicate. I came in to have a nice dinner and had the stuffed mushrooms, salmon, lobster, and shrimp dinner. The experience was the worst ever! The food was overcooked and rubbery tasting. The biscuits came out with meal and were even overcooked and dry. The shrimp was not even grilled well. The shrimp, lobster, mushroom stuffing, and biscuits were very dry. I was in a hurry but did ask the server if any other people complained about the food tonight. He said no and I told him the food was dry and overcooked, and he did not even suggest getting the manager (I had to bag up most of my meal as I was in a hurry so I did not request to see the manager). I called after I left the restaurant to my next appointment to let the manager know how disappointed I was with my meal. The response, "thank you for letting us know. We appreciate the feedback." The disappointment from there was that she did not even offer any discount until I kept talking. Then she asked is there anything I could help you with. I said, 'Yes. How about a clam and clam chowder meal to replace this one since this was so expensive." She said she would transfer me to back office so she could get my name to give me a discount for the next time I come in. I was transferred then it disconnected. So I received no compensation after spending $68 for a disgusting meal. I got home with my leftovers right after and thought I could try to salvage the salmon to taste better and nope. My neighbor came by and saw the biscuits and was shocked at how overcooked they were. In the end, my dog got to eat a $55 meal since I could only part of the stuffed mushrooms, rubbery lobster, and the Caesar salad basically. Terrible!! Ordered a Lobster Tail for $20 and it literally came out shrunk, it didn't fill the shell and was shriveled up and they served it. I returned it and ordered a second one which was better but also was smaller than the shell it was in?!! I've heard many great things and I've seen many of the advertisements everywhere but I was extremely disappointed when I walked in to see that the food that was served to us did not match the way they looked in the photos at all. The waiter was awesome. The biscuits were fresh, fluffy, and delicious. I liked the seafood mushrooms. The steak was okay. I loved the barbecue sauce. The brocolli wS soggy. But, I didn't mind. It was flavorful and easy to eat. My complaint is with the lobster. It wasn't cooked right and it was so salty. The salt killed the natural delicate flavor of the lobster. This place is our favorite seafood restaurant. They have amazing seafood and the lobsters are fresh. They literally took one live lobster out of the tank for cooking. The service is outstanding! Our server was friendly with good sense of humor and also suggested the stuffed mushrooms which were so good. Highly recommend the lobster bisque if you like creamy soups. The crab stuff shrimp appetizer was also good. The best part is that they give free bread like the Cheesecake Factory and that bread is so good, it just melts in your mouth!! read more

Terrific service but mediocre food. I remember how good Red Lobster used to be. There were six of us and only one said their food was really good. The rest of us just said it was ok. Of course prices have jumped way up along with everything else. I don't mind a 25.00 entree but it had better be really good at that price. Restaurant review My luv for the cheddar bay biscuits have gone on for many years, but I find that my enjoyment of Red Lobster continues to dwindle a little bit each time I go. At one time red lobster was the apex of chain seafood restaurant where you went for an "expensive" seafood meal, however a lot has changed and now it is a higher quality restaurant on pare with Outback or Longhorn. The long waits that use to exist have melted away which is nice. Our family of four was seated on a super long table which gave us plenty of space to spread out. I don't think they are but I will get you one anyways... The food itself was okay, the obligatory caesar salad was dressed well. Finally the biscuits arrived with the meal. My seafarer fest looked a little different then the menu item with it haphazardly thrown together in the picture, but maybe I am to blame as I did not get the broccoli and opted for the potato which threw off the arrangement. There was no hot butter to dip my lobster which I did not realize until now after looking at the pictures of my meal. Overall the food was okay, the shrimp scampi was super salty as usual. Red Lobster is one of my guilty pleasures that I hate to love. SERVICE: Service here was awesome. We got a sweet gal named "Shay". It was short for something else, but I can't remember her full name for the life of me. Anyways, she definitely made the experience. We did the endless shrimp special and without her attentive service, the special would have been difficult to enjoy. Darden's game with these endless specials is to have a ghost server that doesn't offer refills enough for the special to be worth your money, but that was not the case with this lady. She checked in constantly to fulfill my insatiable need for shrimp. FOOD: Buttery, fattening, and salty. So like, really good. The new Parmesan peppercorn shrimp and the Korean BBQ were really good. I continued to get those. Personally, my heart lies with the Parmesan shrimp. And of course the cheesy bread was awesome. We took some more to go. Five stars yet again. I do not usually visit chain restaurants much anymore, but my dad wanted to go here for his birthday dinner. So Red Lobster it is. And, fortunately, my mom had a gift card, as well. Even better! I ordered the four course meal- offered Mon-Thurs, I think. You get salad, soup, entree with side, and dessert. I chose caesar salad, baked potato soup, steak with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes, and brownie sundae. My dad got shrimp scampi. My mom got Walt's favorite shrimp. My brother got Admiral's Feast. Everyone, of course, indulges in the cheddar bay biscuits. I was surprised with how much food I got with the four course meal. I couldn't eat it all. My dad ate some of the soup (he loves baked potato soup and I knew he would want some). My brother also assisted with the soup, steak, and sundae. Salad was meh. But that's ok. The soup was enjoyable. Steak was pretty nice for a seafood restaurant. Brussel sprouts were a bit overcooked, but quite good once I added a bit of salt. Mashed potatoes were fine. The brownie sundae was amazing. I was a bit nervous about it as I am not a huge brownie fan. However, I didn't want to pay the upcharge for a different dessert (it was $3 or $4) and my brother said he would help eat it. I really didn't want to share it once I had tried it, but I handed it over anyway. Everyone else liked their food, as well. We had an extraordinarily poor experience at this restaurant tonight, October 23, 2022. Since we were dining with a three year old and an infant our party of four adults and the children arrived at 5:40 pm. We were seated fairly quickly but our server was very inattentive. We waited an hour and a half before being served our meals, drinks were irregularly refilled and only if we repeatedly requested it. We were not offered biscuits, sweet tea was unavailable "until we get some made". Terrible experience for marginal food, with no apology for the delay in being served.
