Walking up the stairs exposes a open kitchen and large seating area with cacti everywhere and a cool kat clock over looking the place. The service was enjoyable from start to finish..90 percent of staff including the chef looked genuinely happy to be working there dancing to the music smiling as they cooked and served. It gave it a buzz! The menu consists of well..a American diner..from the special board I chose the maple pecan nut shake and the Benny crab cakes.. my friend had the spinach and poached eggs dish with fresh mint tea. The Shake was huge and yummy and while I waited for my food I kept seeing indulgent stacks of pancakes being whisked away. My poached eggs were oozy and perfect and the crab cakes.. well very crabby! It's probably why you're given a roll of kitchen of roll instead of napkins when you sit down. When we first arrived it was queued out the door, ok it's a small entrance way but that still meant there was at least a dozen people ahead of us. Thankfully we were quickly ushered inside and while we still had a 15 minute wait for a table for 4, and we could spend that time at the bar. The bar has a decent selection of the usual favourites. It's a bit short on good beer/ale but does have Brooklyn larger on draught. They also have their very own larger, which to be honest was unimpressive. It tasted very weak with no strong flavours and a distinct lack of hops. I would describe it like sex in a canoe, f**king close to water. If you're a Bud or Coors lite drinker you'll likely enjoy it. But you don't come here for the booze. The burger menu was impressive, the smallest they do is a double and every burger comes with a long list of toppings. Some crowd pleasures feature, candied bacon, pepper jack cheese, BBQ onions, but there are also some weird and wonderful additions such as crunchy pretzels, frazzles (yes the crisps!) and even beerios, which are some sort of beer infused cheerios, they only appear on their breakfast burger. I had the river phoenix, a double cheese burger with bacon, BBQ onions, chipotle sauce, baconaise and the aforementioned frazzles. The burger was delicious, the meat was good quality and well cooked, although it did get lost under the vast amount of different toppings. As sides we had their chilli cheese fries and suicide wings. The fries were excellent, a mixture of regular and sweet potato fries. They were cut to just the right thickness and had a nice crunch while still being fluffy on the inside. There wasn't quite as much chilli as I'd have liked but other than that the fries were perfect. However I was disappointed in the suicide wings. I'm a big hot sauce fan and they were pretty mild. I would have liked for them to have been a lot hotter. I was expecting ghost pepper heat and only got Jalapeño. It's not full waiter service as you do have to order and pay at the bar. But the staff were pleasant and the queues were short so I didn't mind. Our four burgers (3 doubles and a triple), two portions of fries and a portion of wings came to a very reasonable £40.

There is also a snooker/pool table and some other arcade type furniture as well as the American flags dotted around with some other cool photos hung on the walls. The food was absolutely amazing! We had the hunters chicken and a sirloin steak and they were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious! I would definitely recommend to anyone hungry for some proper grub! Linda the lady who runs the restaurant is very friendly and would do anything for you. We were a group of 4 so she moved the tables around so that we could all sit together. It started almost immediately when we came to order. We asked for another five minutes to read through the menu and after the time had passed we waited, and waited and continued to wait. Dispite trying to get the waitresses attention again and again. Eventually, just before we were about to leave, we did get seen by a different member of staff who took our food order and drinks. When the drinks arrived we had been missing milk from our tea for two so we tried to get the waitresses attention, at first we thought she would come and check to see if everything was alright and bring us the milk for our teas. She even passed us several times dealing with people on tables around us and we kept asking for her and trying to get her attention and eventually I had to go to the bar with all the staff "hanging around the bar" to ask for some milk to now add to our now lukewarm teas. When the food arrived, most the chips fell off from my daughters meal onto the table and my wife's cutlery was thrown on the floor. The waiter just said it wasn't his day and went to get a new knife while we scooped up the chips off the table to put onto her plate. On my own meal the ribs were really nice however the chicken was pink inside and not cooked properly and the plate was covered in grease. We tried to make the most of the meal but the overall attitude of the staff seemed to hang over our meal and my daughter has a disability and felt self conscious about the staff waiting at the bar looking over and talking. Although she didn't know that the conversation was about her it didn't stop her feeling like it. Overall I couldn't recommend this restaurant to anybody and it is a real shame because I believe with decent staff that cared about their customers this would have been a completely different story.

I've been occasionally popping into the West Coast Rock Café on trips to Blackpool for years, to…read morethe degree that I could've sworn I'd already reviewed it, but on checking my previous reviews, I apparently haven't, which is something I will remedy right now! Everybody who knows Blackpool knows of West Coast Rock, and anyone who is a visitor and who doesn't, should make the effort to find out, because it's well worth hunting out its blink-and-you'll-miss-it tiny front entrance, which comprises of nothing but a door with a staircase leading upwards, and some bright yellow signage. It's near the tower. It bills itself as a family restaurant and music venue, but it is what in the USA would be known as a Dive Bar. That's not an insult in any way, it's their term for a place that is rough around the edges, casual, with a focus on good casual food and drinks, and usually live music. West Coast Rock Cafe is big on all of these, and their style inside is dark red walls and ceilings, painted wall art and illustrations, even illustrations on the tables, and old furniture. It works. It works really well for what they're doing. The service is casual and friendly, staff treat everyone like regulars and smiles are always in view. The menu is burgers, steaks, sandwiches, classic American favourites, and some Mexican options. All the burgers are named with tongue in cheek and a sense of humour, ie a plain hamburger is called "The Boring Burger", and the rest of the menu shares the same fun and casual style, as well as the same style illustrations from around the restaurant too. This time round we ordered a Double Decker Club Sandwich from the West Coast Favourites section, and a Hill Street Blues Burger. Waiting for your food here is perfectly pleasant too, because as well as the excellent music videos playing and music generally, the restaurant is on the first floor with wrap-around windows, making it great for people-watching over the pedestrianised streets. The food arrived pleasantly presented. The burger was juicy, with oozy blue cheese topping caramelised onions and mushrooms, which really kicked the flavour up a few notches. The club sandwich was surprisingly filling, and with the addition of cucumber in the mix, it really gave the sandwich a bit of bite and pop. The fries on both meals were lovely and crisp and hot. One thing we noticed was that the burger came with a sauce, and we couldn't quite place what it was, was it a chilli mayo or a paprika mayo? We asked the server who told us that it was the chef's so-called 'dirty sauce', made with ingredients such as mayo, Cajun spices, and lime juice. Thing is, it's a really nice sauce, and not even mentioned on the menu, when it deserves to be, because it was something created not bought. The food was excellent as always, and once again even though we didn't get a starter, we had no room for dessert. I swear one day I'll be able to manage a dessert at West Coast Rock Cafe... in fact some day I might go JUST for dessert... maybe to try The Fudgezilla, but I don't know if I could bring myself to go to Blackpool and to West Coast, and NOT have their delicious food! Give it a try, it's fun, it's casual, and it's good quality. It won't break the bank either.

Originally seeming to be named New Yorker Diner, it doesn't have a diner vibe, so instead is now presenting itself as American Street Food, serving burgers, waffles and chicken, gourmet burgers, and some other American sides too, as well as milkshakes and Belgian Waffles. It doesn't have a huge range, but what it has it does well. As you descend the steps into the diner itself, it's got that industrial look that most of the Northern Quarter is doing at the moment, complete with bare brick walls, wood cladding, and filament bulbs. Definitely not the Ed's Easy Diner style 50's American diner. Also, it's not a full service restaurant, but in fact a counter-service place with a dining area. The menu is simple but appetising, with some really tasty offerings and at a price that is very reasonable for Manchester City Centre, especially with some of the lunch deals available. I went to the counter and ordered the "American Boy" burger with fries and a Cherry Coke. The friendly staff member gave me a flashing/buzzing box similar to what you get when waiting for seating at big chain restaurants on a Saturday night, and said it would buzz/flash when my meal was ready for me to collect. Handy. The food was ready, and what I got was very tasty indeed. The burger, although not pink, was cooked through, but still juicy, and the trimmings were perfect, although the 'Brooklyn Sauce' built up spice pretty quickly for me, so I'd probably skip that next time. The fries were really good! Properly hot and crisp, and seasoned perfectly meaning the sachets of salt I picked up were never touched! New Yorker is a simple affair, offering good simple food when you want it, at a good price. I'd go again

The only downfall was that the workers came around rushing us to finish our drinks and get out because they're closing up. Must be a culture thing, we've definitely stayed longer than we were supposed to have in American places and they just waited, yes, i know, we were wrong for staying, we just lost track of time, and always made sure to tip well! But here they aren't afraid to say hey, we're closing, get out! ok ok a lot nicer but basically same message. :) But other than that, I would come back for sure, service was great otherwise.
