It started almost immediately when we came to order. We asked for another five minutes to read through the menu and after the time had passed we waited, and waited and continued to wait. Dispite trying to get the waitresses attention again and again. Eventually, just before we were about to leave, we did get seen by a different member of staff who took our food order and drinks. When the drinks arrived we had been missing milk from our tea for two so we tried to get the waitresses attention, at first we thought she would come and check to see if everything was alright and bring us the milk for our teas. She even passed us several times dealing with people on tables around us and we kept asking for her and trying to get her attention and eventually I had to go to the bar with all the staff "hanging around the bar" to ask for some milk to now add to our now lukewarm teas. When the food arrived, most the chips fell off from my daughters meal onto the table and my wife's cutlery was thrown on the floor. The waiter just said it wasn't his day and went to get a new knife while we scooped up the chips off the table to put onto her plate. On my own meal the ribs were really nice however the chicken was pink inside and not cooked properly and the plate was covered in grease. We tried to make the most of the meal but the overall attitude of the staff seemed to hang over our meal and my daughter has a disability and felt self conscious about the staff waiting at the bar looking over and talking. Although she didn't know that the conversation was about her it didn't stop her feeling like it. Overall I couldn't recommend this restaurant to anybody and it is a real shame because I believe with decent staff that cared about their customers this would have been a completely different story.

I've been occasionally popping into the West Coast Rock Café on trips to Blackpool for years, to…read morethe degree that I could've sworn I'd already reviewed it, but on checking my previous reviews, I apparently haven't, which is something I will remedy right now! Everybody who knows Blackpool knows of West Coast Rock, and anyone who is a visitor and who doesn't, should make the effort to find out, because it's well worth hunting out its blink-and-you'll-miss-it tiny front entrance, which comprises of nothing but a door with a staircase leading upwards, and some bright yellow signage. It's near the tower. It bills itself as a family restaurant and music venue, but it is what in the USA would be known as a Dive Bar. That's not an insult in any way, it's their term for a place that is rough around the edges, casual, with a focus on good casual food and drinks, and usually live music. West Coast Rock Cafe is big on all of these, and their style inside is dark red walls and ceilings, painted wall art and illustrations, even illustrations on the tables, and old furniture. It works. It works really well for what they're doing. The service is casual and friendly, staff treat everyone like regulars and smiles are always in view. The menu is burgers, steaks, sandwiches, classic American favourites, and some Mexican options. All the burgers are named with tongue in cheek and a sense of humour, ie a plain hamburger is called "The Boring Burger", and the rest of the menu shares the same fun and casual style, as well as the same style illustrations from around the restaurant too. This time round we ordered a Double Decker Club Sandwich from the West Coast Favourites section, and a Hill Street Blues Burger. Waiting for your food here is perfectly pleasant too, because as well as the excellent music videos playing and music generally, the restaurant is on the first floor with wrap-around windows, making it great for people-watching over the pedestrianised streets. The food arrived pleasantly presented. The burger was juicy, with oozy blue cheese topping caramelised onions and mushrooms, which really kicked the flavour up a few notches. The club sandwich was surprisingly filling, and with the addition of cucumber in the mix, it really gave the sandwich a bit of bite and pop. The fries on both meals were lovely and crisp and hot. One thing we noticed was that the burger came with a sauce, and we couldn't quite place what it was, was it a chilli mayo or a paprika mayo? We asked the server who told us that it was the chef's so-called 'dirty sauce', made with ingredients such as mayo, Cajun spices, and lime juice. Thing is, it's a really nice sauce, and not even mentioned on the menu, when it deserves to be, because it was something created not bought. The food was excellent as always, and once again even though we didn't get a starter, we had no room for dessert. I swear one day I'll be able to manage a dessert at West Coast Rock Cafe... in fact some day I might go JUST for dessert... maybe to try The Fudgezilla, but I don't know if I could bring myself to go to Blackpool and to West Coast, and NOT have their delicious food! Give it a try, it's fun, it's casual, and it's good quality. It won't break the bank either.

As a result, depending on the evening, you may find that being smartly dressed makes you the odd-one-out. If it's a Friday or Saturday night, however, you should be good. Just be aware that wearing a t-shit, hoodie and tracksuit bottoms won't be looked upon with a frown here - it's just that sort of area. Food wise, it's okay. Above average pub food, but VERY expensive. £16 for a rack of ribs that aren't particularly great - they're alright. The waiters and waitresses are in short supply so expect to be here 1h 30m even if the restaurant is only half full. I had to ask twice and wait ten minutes for a drink with my meal. The place should be much cheaper than it is. For date night, it's not too bad, and there aren't really any places close-by to compete with it (except the pub literally across the road - but I haven't tried that in years). The waiters and waitresses are particularly inattentive, but the music (a mixture of swing and 60s music) provides a good atmosphere and the milkshakes are great! Don't make it a regular thing, maybe once every so often. And if you can travel further, I suggest it unless you're going to watch a film at the cinema also across the road (and so also invited those previously described less than savoury characters). Bring a tracksuit!

We went as a couple but there were lots of families there and birthdays - as with TGI Fridays (which Frankie & Bennys definitely has the feel of) they make a big deal of birthdays and get a real buzz going in the restaurant. We didn't feel encroached by the families as we had a lot of room, it is not as crammed in as places like pizza hut. The food was really nice, lots of choice and piping hot. It was good value for money and we will definitely go back as a family as I feel it is a versatile restaurant and my young children will enjoy it.

The British beef roast is different from the American version, and they did a very good job on the roast as each slice of beef was nice and tender. The Brussel sprouts and potatoes that complemented the main course were icing on the cake! The indoor dining room is cozy, while there is an option to sit outdoor as well. Their restroom has paper towels to dry your hands, which is typically not found in many restrooms here in the UK except for fancy luxurious establishments so that was a very pleasant surprise.

We chose this little family run cafe/steakhouse and it proved to be a sound decision. Generous portions of home-cooked food all round. I had the chicken liver pâté to start and it was delightful. My sister polished off deep fried brie and currant jelly & my brother in law the chilli garlic prawns. All of the plates would have passed any cleanliness inspection afterward with absolutely nothing left. For mains, my niece had a steak burger & my nephew the rump steak, both available as kids meals. For the adults, they have many choices of cut of steak cooked to your liking. I agreed with my brother-in-law to share our meals him ordering the 10 oz. sirloin (which my sister also enjoyed) & I ordered the mixed grill. We both like our steaks rare and although some places struggle to deliver, JK's did not. Excellent value and my sister's family all went off with big smiles on their faces to warmer climes.

The Red Lion is probably one of the better dining options if one is looking for good value in and…read morearound Blackpool. This is a restaurant connected to the Premier Inn in Bispham. It is away from the nastiness in Central Blackpool, so the atmosphere is sedate; I think this is a place where one can take one's grandmother for dinner. Based on experiences in previous years, we have found the service here to be consistenly good and the quality of the food to be consistently okay (not great, not good, but okay, which is good enough for us). We therefore visited this place twice during our recent trip to the Blackpool area this past April. Our first visit happened on a Sunday evening. The host seated us right away and was attentive, and our server was friendly and efficient. We had the Sunday Roast dinner special, which is a great value at GBP 7.99. Hubby and I both ordered the roast chicken, which we both thought was cooked perfectly. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the portion was quite generous. The vegetables were nicely steamed (i.e. still crisp and not fall-apart mushy) and the yorskshire pudding was quite tasty (i.e. big, fluffy, and not greasy). Since we generally find the dining choices in Blackpool quite dire, we returned to the Red Lion the following night. Sadly, the experience we had this time around was quite the opposite to the one we had the previous night. The host was a little scattered - he neither mentioned any specials that were available to us that night nor provided us with their evening meal deals menu. I am convinced, based on what I witnessed throughout the night, that he was more concerned about socializing with a particular group of people and running back and forth to what I assumed to be his car, than he was about doing what he is paid to do. But I digress. Had we known about the evening deals menu, we would not have ordered off the regular menu because the food off of this particular menu was awful and a bit pricey considering the poor quality. Hubby had the beef burger, which was bland and dry. The patty tasted like it is of the frozen and processed variety. I had the Sea Bass Skewers which consisted of 3 small, thinly-sliced, rolled up and skewered pieces of over-buttered and over-cooked white fish that didn't taste too much like sea bass. The only saving grace that night was our server, Jamie, who was, incidentally, also our server the previous night. She was just absolutely fantastic. My rating: Based on prior years' experiences: 4* Based on my most recent experience, I could only recommend this place for the Sunday roast, and therefore, 2.75 *. Overall rating: 3*.

We walked in, the place was packed, there was only two servers for what was easily 20-25 tables. We ordered, then the waitress brings out our food. We ordered a jackfruit burrito type of thing and a butternut squash bowl. The squash bowl was bland, unflavored, but not terrible. The jackfruit burrito on the other hand....Slimy, oddly sweet, turned the entire thing into a mushy, gelatinous, disgusting mess. It was in giant, unbite-able chunks, and oozed mucus like juice onto the rest of the food. The beans in the burrito were thinly smeared onto the side of it, and it was overall a very unsatisfying meal. I am a traveler and I will eat just about anything, even if it's not the most appetizing, but I could not eat this burrito. I know sometimes vegan food is hard to cook, but if their basic staples (beans, rice, salsa) were unflavorful, I can't imagine the meat dishes were much better.
