As far as pub fare goes, it doesn't get any better than the Lantern. Always a tender tasty steak morning, noon and night.

Excellent choice for a weekend breakfast with the boys. Decor nothing special but the food and service are very good.

If you want the best steak in Fredericton, you'll go no further. Who would expect such good food from such a dive bar!

Maybe the only ungentrified / hipsterized "pub" in town. Exactly what you'd expect from a pub called "The Red Lantern"

Seriously FANTASTIC food! These chefs and kitchen staff are doing magic back there, I swear. This…read morewas the first official dinner out I've had since the COVID pandemic started - meaning my first dinner out in a year and a half!! To say that my expectations were high is an understatement - I mean, imagine going out for dinner again after so much lockdown misery (folks, I came here from Ottawa). Let me repeat for emphasis: my expectations were very high. Aaaand, I was not disappointed! In fact, maybe this was the best place I could have possibly gone for my reintroduction into foodie society. We sat on the front patio, because I felt safer outdoors, and it was entirely pleasant. Fredericton is not inundated with smokers on the sidewalks like larger cities are, so no problems there. Traffic is low key on Wednesday evenings, which is when we went. We did make a reservation, though, and it's good that we did because it filled up pretty quickly at dinner hour. The tables were well spaced apart and some had full plastic curtain separation, so they take their restrictions seriously. I was pleased. For appies, we had shaved beef (delish) and cauliflower tacos (so good). For my main, I had the duck leg, which was pure bliss with every bite. The beans it came with could have been a bit more thoroughly done, but I was more obsessed with the meat than anything else on the plate. If you like crispy skin and salty meat, this is for you. My partner had the tender loin steak, which was done to perfection, and my son had the burger and fries, which was full on gourmet goodness. Also, they had no qualms about turning every cocktail I wanted into a virgin (no booze for me since COVID mowed me down over a year ago). Pretty good, standard selection of local beer on tap to meet every need. The service was quite wonderful. The meal took just slightly longer than usual to arrive so our appies were offered free! We were just glad to be out, so that wasn't necessary but we really appreciated it nonetheless. We'll be back for sure!

Is there something higher than a 5? If not, for somewhere like this there should be! Cute little…read moreplace, great staff and the food was OMG! The Lamb Shank was falling off the bone and you literally wanted to take a bath in the mushroom sauce... we would have licked the plate but figured that's frowned upon lol

There is a restaurant on site but it was closed when I went (Monday afternoon). However, there was a food truck on site with burgers, chicken wings, fish and chips and other pub fare ($12-16 range for big portions). There is also the Muse coffee on site but again only on certain days (I think Thursdays-Sundays). Service was very friendly and for non-beer drinkers like myself, they had a cider and several choices for wines. They also had non-alcohol beer available. The boutique has a lot of their beers as well as local liquors, t-shirts, dog toys and other gifts. It's super dog friendly and there is bike parking as well. Very relaxing place to stop by while exploring the area.

The beer selection is extensive, with plenty to choose from. We came for a flight on the way out of town, and decided to get some food. Luckily right next door, is an attached restaurant/pub that serves simple pub fare. You can order and they will give you a buzzer to let you know when the food is ready. We got the burger with homemade chips and it was the perfect pairing with the beers! Would recommend for a place to hang out with friends and family.

Up, however is a welcome change on the drinking scene, and fills a gaping hole in the previously pub-dominated nightlife sector. Decor: awesome -upstairs above the hugely successful Garrison on Queen St, tasteful and subtle lounge-bar feel. Wine: GREAT list, most good global regions represented very well, some interesting grapes, and nice to see HIGH quality Canadian bottles. Prices are really impressively reasonable for such good wine, and potentially pretentious surroundings ;-) Service: Knowledgeable and very friendly. DEFINITELY one for my 'must-do' list each time I'm in town!

Seating about 20-30 people, this wine bar has a lot to offer. Great selection of wine both by the bottle and by the glass, easily broken down by taste profile to make choosing easier; good selection of traditional cocktails, beers, tequilas and scotch's. Although one can't order food from downstairs, they do offer great little cheese plates and meat trays that are ready to go on demand. We were there on a Wednesday night, which just happens to be their tasting night... Although I wasn't in the "mood" for a beer tasting, having the owner cotinuosly bring us a little sampler of the beers being offered made it hard to resist. We had a bottle of wine and a couple cocktails and ended up with a cheese plate and meat tray before the night was over. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You can be sure that this will be a regular spot when I am in Fredericton on business in the future.
