I haven't gone to Montana's in a while. Looks like all new staff. We use to recognize some of the staff, as they were all so polite. I took my family here tonight. The server was polite, and attentive. The food on the other hand was poorly made, and overly greasy. We couldn't finish our food. Will not be returning. Food has been really greasy lately. Staff seem very focused on upselling. It's not very subtle, and seems a bit pushy. New people working every time, no one seems to know what they are doing. Also, there was a long wait to be seated, but many open tables, which would indicate that it's the kitchen causing the delay, probably due to Skip the Dishes and DoorDash orders. Customers on site should really take priority. It's very disappointing. Feels much more like a fast food spot these days. The only thing missing is a drive through. read more

We just had a delicious dinner. The fish and chips were fresh, not greasy and tasty. The fries were perfect. The chicken fajitas were generous, well prepared and the sides were wonderful. Due to the wait time, we chose to eat in the bar. The barmaid was attentive and a good waitress to boot. The ambience is a little tacky, but is so airy and joyful that it doesn't matter. I'd give this 5 stars, except the wine and liquor lists are close to pitiful. First time we've eaten in a montana's, and if this is typical, yah! This evening my friend had her bday supper at Montana's which my wife and I were invited to. The atmosphere was nice, newly renovated from what I overheard while I was there. Rustic looking, with a big red truck overlooking the dining area, stuff on the walls, but what stood out the most is the new 9" cast iron pans hanging on the wall next to our booth. They were hot glued to the hook, which didn't work because I took one down to check it out. Not only were they glued to the hook, the hooks were too small for the pans. These pans weigh roughly 5-8lbs and are barely hanging on the hooks. I would avoid the "Pyramid" pan wall booth. In fact, if management is reading this, you should highly consider taking them down before someone gets taken out by one of these. Onto the food. I ordered the Double dusted wings. They were simply battered and rolled in bread crumbs. Nothing overly fancy. I got the hot sauce and the medium sauce on the side. Under careful review the medium sauce was a mixture of ketchup and hot sauce mixed, while the hot sauce was Sysco brand. The wings were good but over priced through the Ying Yang, $24.99 for 16 wings. The birthday lady ordered nachos and they were over done, cheese was placed first then the nachos, making the nachos stick to the paper bottom. It also lacked a lot of what it had said would be on them on the menu. My wife ordered the Canadian Burger, which was fantastic and delicious, while the fries were undercooked and very plain looking. The birthday lady's husband ordered a steak rare which was good to his standards but the fries were also under cooked. All in all, someone's going to get a pan in the head and the fries were undercooked! Not worth the wait, find a local pub and support local. read more

The steaks, chicken, ribs, burgers and fries are all frozen and under seasoned. My steak had no flavour. The waiter told me the salads are all pre- made in a bag. The open it and poor it onto plate with whatever sauce you want. For the price of cooking a frozen steak I can do it at home on the BBQ or cast iron pan a hell of a lot better. I would never go back!!! Look at the Texas Roadhouse or Caesar's Steak House & Lounge in Calgary for a couple examples. If you cooks can't make a fresh hamburger get rid of them. We've had such awesome success in Moncton and Halifax but horrible food and service in SJ but we decided to give the Fredericton location a try while on vacation and was disappointed once again! The burger was boring and just really how do you mess up a cheeseburger?? The price for the bland burger was actually unbelievable!! The service was even worse then the boring bland burger as I'm not even sure who our waitress was she was that non existent! The table next to us heard the drink specials and their waitress came back a few times during the meal... Today we went to Montanas to celebrate my wife's birthday. We decided to take our grandson along who just turned 12 within the last month. We all had proof of vaccination which we showed. My wife and I provided ID but they refused to seat us because our grandson didn't have ID. What 12 year old carries ID? The Manager's parting words to us were "after Monday it won't matter." I was very pleased with my dinner experience here at Montana's. I went with the chicken fajitas and an appetizer of the Montana Chipper's, which were deep fried potato chips. The dill sauce that came with the Montana chippers was not to my liking, but my waiter promptly secured me some ranch dressing and that made things all right. The chicken fajitas were very well prepared and tasty. I received an ample supply of condiments to use and my tortilla wraps, which were cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, and my waiter provided me with a side order of chimichurri sauce to try. The fajitas did not come with any jalapenos so I ask for some hot sauce. My waiter brought out some Tabasco and a bottle of this restaurant's hot sauce made with habanero peppers. This sauce was one of the better hot sauces that I have tried. I was very well pleased with this meal and will be back thank you very much. read more

Went to meet my girlfriend and some friends for lunch today. What a mistake. Waitress dumped two large glasdes of ice tea on my lap. Soaked my phone wallet pants underwear and shirt. Had to leave. The watitress should not be carrying 4 lge drinks if it is too heavy. Got up to leave and the next waitress all but runs me over as shebis carrying food.. We had takeout from here and tried the bacon Mac and cheese, mushroom chicken (comes with rice and veggies) and firecracker burger (came with choice of fries, house or Cesear salad, I had the latter). It was ready within 15 minutes and the staff at the restaurant were very friendly. The portion sizes were good, the Mac and cheese was enormous. It started off fine - I sat at the bar. The bartender delivered the beer I ordered quickly. I ordered the Pot Roast soup - evidently a take on vegetable beef soup. The soup was Meh - actually tasted a lot like Chunky Sirloin Beef save for the hint of barbeque flavor. Same exact consistency as Chunky which made me think twice about whether it was indeed Chunky or not. I ordered the sirloin burger with fries. You could tell the meal was sitting on the food line for a while before being delivered and it wasn't busy. The meat was borderline gross - almost tasted like a hot dog and had the consistency to match. I only ate half and called it a day. The fries were ok, albeit not hot and slightly chewy - I presumed they weren't fresh out of the fry-o-lator - probably 10-15 minutes old sitting under heat lamps. Will I be back? If I am, it'll only be for drinks....the food was that forgettable. read more

Does not allow for reservations on busy nights (Saturday). While the food is excellent, the franchise does not seem to understand that by having people come in and put them on a waitlist for a given amount of time if there are no available tables, they are basically using a reservation system. However, their system is bound to anger customers and drive them away. read more

I frequent this restaurant alot and have never been disapointed. they are known for their ribs, and that is what I had. Well actually I'm lying, they have a summer promotion where you get a 1/4 rack ribs, 1/4 chicken or 4 chicken wings, ribletts or shrimp skewer, plus a side (fries, veg' whatever) plus a beer all for $23. Let me say that I can eat and I still had leftovers. Like I mentioned before I've been here numerous times and have probably eaten most items on the menu and have never been dissapointed. Service is usually good, every once in awhile they can be slow but most times they are good. The atmosphere is family friendly with the outdoor woods theme, there is something for everyone and prices are on par with most restaurants. read more

Grade A service! The staff is always nice and friendly. Best place in Fredericton to get a meal. Ribs are fall off the bone and awesome. The beer is always fresh and plentiful and large variety of cocktails on the menu. I've been many times and have never been disappointed. The food and drinks are priced fairly. Great family seating area and has an awesome bar area where you can see a sports game from any seat you're in. Huge portion sizes. We have been patrons several times. My husband always changes up his order and is always stuffed when leaving. Fun, woodsy atmosphere. Great customer service. The food is on the pricy side, but only mid-range and is exceptional in taste and quality. Love their steaks and chicken strips, and their Garlic Cheese bread is a must. There's nothing exceptional about this place, where you can order homemade pork rinds for triple the store bought brand or under cooked potato wedges for a high price. The pulled pork is too sweet and the chili on the spicy side. The generous stars are not for the food but for the friendly staff, trying to deliver expensive, lackluster food and make a living wage. Great food with excellent service. The portion sizes of our meals had a fair amount of food. Needles to say we did not leave hungry. Last time I went, my burger was big and delicious, although a tiny bit pricy for somebody who doesn't make a ton of money, still left me very satisfied. And my fries where amazing. Our dinner here was a complete disaster. The service was simply terrible and the food was mediocre at best. Montana's in most places are pretty decent but I wouldn't recommend this particular one to anybody. We ordered the kapow shrimp for starters and the fajitas and brisket burger for main course. We weren't being served by one server, instead it seemed like whoever was available would get whatever was available to the table. So my husband's burger and the tortillas arrived first and were followed by the meat for the fajitas several minutes later. The appetizers arrived when we were midway through our meal and looked so miserable we weren't in the least tempted to eat them. The serving staff didn't even acknowledge that something was amiss. The food itself was just ok. We then made the mistake of ordering dessert. We were served with cookies slathered in caramel sauce with a tiny blob of vanilla ice cream melting away in a little corner of the plate. It seemed like they realized they had run out of ice cream after slathering the cookies in a bucket of caramel and scraped whatever was on the sides of the ice cream container to put on the plate.
