Came to celebrate my mama's birthday at TVC. We made reservations online which was simple enough. The restaurant is basically a fancy Chinese restaurant. We ordered about several dishes. I couldn't take all the pictures, because it was served about 3 plates at a time and some of us dived in once the plate hits the table. For the most part, all of the dishes tasted pretty good. We had the eggdrop soup, beef with chinese brocolli, honey walnut shrimps, shanghai steamed dumpling (xlb), fried dumpling, sweet and sour chicken, stirfry mushroom with veggies, roasted duck, sticky fried rice, chicken chow mein, and that's all I can remember. I have been coming here for years, how have I never left a review? This is my family's go-to Asian/Chinese cuisine spot in town. When my dad was alive my parents would play the machines, order, pick up and bring us home food to eat all together. Special occasions were celebrated here over the years as well and when guests are in town my parents would often treat them to Red Lantern. That was the case last night, my mom had a friend in town from the Philippines and treated us all here. We ordered Wor Wonton noodle soup for the group (of 7) as an appetizer. Followed up by Orange Chicken, Honey Walnut Prawn, Mongolian Beef, a green bean dish with pork, two orders of rice and some eggs rolls for the kids. Everything was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone (with the exception of the veggie egg rolls ...icky). I think the Honey Walnut prawns are some of the best I've had anywhere. Not soggy, great sauce and the walnuts are perfectly candied. Service was solid. Friendly, efficient and helpful. Recommend? Yup and I hope you like it also. read more

ok i have been going to this place for 20 years when I am up in the area, which is multiple times a year. I have only ever gotten a 40$ foot massage so I cannot speak to anything else done there. I hesitated between giving it a 4 star or a 3 star review. Went with the 4 star as I do like this place albeit I don't think I will be going there anymore. here is what you need to know, you may get a great 40$ foot massage or you may not. It is a gamble. I had one yesterday and it was the opposite of calming, but then again I am going through a rough patch so it is possible what is "calm" to me is not the same thing as what is "calm" to some one else. I wish I asked for a different person but did my best do communicate with her which was 1/not relaxing and 2/hard because she did not understand what I was saying. I asked her to use a mask and she did not for example. I guess right then I should have asked for another practitioner. Do know too it has become more common for practitioners to use gloves while they are massaging your feet. Soooo not ok in my book especially when I have exceptionally clean feet. I get it if you have something going on with your feet but that should be then on a case by case basis - gloves being used. The combination of you don't know what you are going to get (a relaxing massage or an unrelaxing massage) and that gloves are being used more with the 40$ massages makes me think I'd be better off somewhere else. My husband for example was with me and he loved his massage and even fell asleep. He also said the guy did not use gloves on his hands when massaging his feet. so case in point, it is a gamble here! read more

I really love fried rice with shrimp and this place chefs makes it good not going to lie but... one thing that made me not wanting to come back to this place is the customer service or servers to be exact who expect you to tip and if you don't do that they get mad and rude at you. I tip if I felt like the person deserved to be tipped but unfortunately not there customer service. read more

My first encounter. Menu was a little bit misleading and our server didn't care to make sure we understood what we were ordering. Was trying to order the family pack, but he still went around and asked us which entree we wanted. So instead of yes getting the family deal, we were charged for each entree ordered. He didn't even stop to wonder why we all ordered the same entrees. In reality we were supposed to get one of each entree (we realized once one of our family members pointed it out since they have been here before). I don't think I'll be back, unfortunately. Came here on a Tuesday night around 8:30pm with my boyfriend. We were seated immediately by the hostess at the front. There wasn't a lot of people but everyone was seated throughout the restaurant. It's nice that they don't squeeze everyone in one section. Food: We ordered the combo entrée for $18 where you get two pieces of appetizers, a choice of fried rice or steamed rice and a choice of an entrée on the list. I got the honey walnut shrimp. All of the food was really really good and I thought it wouldn't fill me up, but it was just a little more than I could eat. The fried rice was bland but had the right texture. Located inside of Thunder Valley Casino & Resort is this Asian/Chinese restaurant. I came here with my parents on a Saturday in August and there was a long wait, I think we put our names down and it was about another 45 minutes from our original reservation time around 7pm. Lots of people were waiting but they just gamble while they wait. We were seated and given water, the staff seemed to be short handed and really busy so it was hard getting their attention and ordering. A lot of stuff on the menu weren't available, we asked for steamed or fried fish and they didn't have any, no eggplant either. Those are my usual go-tos. Me and my dad both wanted a cup of wonton soup so the waitress suggested we just get a bowl, my mom doesn't really eat the soup so we didn't want too much but it worked out. The soup was good, large wontons and vegetables, then we ordered shrimp fried rice and beef with Chinese broccoli. The food took a little bit of time to come out but the servers were also so busy. My parents were in a hurry too, once they finished we asked to pack it up so they could go gamble. I wanted to continue to eat but I just packed it and finished eating in the car. This restaurant deserves way more than its current 3.3 star Yelp review status. The food was very delicious and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We had reservations and didn't particularly like the first table they sat us at because there wasn't a lot of room between tables, but upon request, they moved us to a much better location. We had the dumplings, which were a delicious start to the meal. The walnut shrimp was a lightly battered perfectly cooked shrimp that had a sweet and savory combo of flavors. The orange chicken was crispy with juicy chicken. The Mongolian beef was very good with a nice hint of spice. We splurged with the whole Peking duck, which was quite a spectacular presentation! The ambiance was elegant with beautiful Chinese art on the walls and beautiful figurines, statues, and waterfalls. I'm definitely going back. I've been here many times as a little girl with my family and it used to be Koi Palace which can was fantastic but the newly owned management doesn't beat what it was before! Always my go to when I am at the casino. I love the reservation option so yo don't have to worry about a table being open. Always seated quickly and have pretty quick service from the time they take your order to the time the food appears. The servers are all nice, adn attentive. My go to is a combo plate with Mongolian beef that is always on point. The appetizer crispy sampler is always a bonus to dinner. They have the best hot mustard. Decided to order the fried chicken wings off their special lunch menu. And also ordered their salted fish and chicken fried rice. The chicken had great flavor. I'm a big fan of s&p anything. The skin was nice and crispy, but the only downside was the center of the chicken. I kept questioning whether it was fully cooked all the way. Although it seemed like it was safe to eat, I didn't eat the meat that was too close to the bone just to be on the safe side, and for anyone that knows me, I usually clean the chicken bones dry! They could have sautéed the jalapeños a bit more because they were still slightly raw. I still ate them because I like jalapeños. The let down for me was the fried rice. I'm really big on the salted fish/chicken rice, and when I took my first bite I was pretty sad. I like the notes of saltiness that surprise my mouth, but I almost rarely, almost never got that salty hit. The rice to me was a little more on the bland side and even had more of a ginger taste than anything. I'm not too big on ginger and I swear I had more bits of that ginger spice to awaken my pallet than the supposed saltiness of the fish. None the less the food was still very edible and would probably suit others taste buds more, but it just didn't do it for me. Today had a meet up with one of my best friend. She recommended this place. I came to this place probably 3 times so far but most of the time on weekdays. Actually they offer lunch special for Sunday and Saturday lunch. I ordered bbq pork. The portion was huge. It came with soup, rice and the entree. We also ordered some dumplings. Taste was good. Waiters are nice and friendly but just too rush to take the plate even we still working on it and asked us for few times while we still talking. As dessert we orders the grass jelly herbal pudding. It's always been my favorite and I didn't know they do have it here until my friend ordered it! That's awesome. We order extra 3 cups for to go. It came with a round plastic bowl. Great late night eats if you're craving for some hot soup our go to is the Duck Noodle Soup. Roasted duck over bed of egg noodle with bok choy so yummy. The steam queen chicken is also one of my favorite, for drinks the love potion and the lychee martini is a must dry fruity and refreshing. Love this place! read more

Get the smoked Chilean sea bass, it will change your life. Ugh it's so good - rich, sweet, tender, juicy. At $37 it is pricey, but oh so worth it. My mom gambles at Thunder Valley so when we go she uses her comps so it's like it's free haha. Their honey walnut shrimp, seafood soup, and "pea shoots" (I think that's what it's called in English) are some of my other favorites. Overall their Chinese food is very authentic, but they do have food that caters to a more American eater as well - hot and sour soup, chow fun, fried rice. Pay attention to your bill. I Took my father and 5 other family members to celebrate his birthday, had our server do a 50/50 split on the final bill and because the main receipt was folded and tucked in the side of the bill folder, my sister and I only saw our receipt to sign of our 50% portion of the bill with a gratunity line to fill out and the next day when I had time to review the original bill, I see that they ALREADY added an18% gratuity to our total, but again, this was noted only on the receipt that was folded and tucked into the folder. The highlight of my late night dinner at Red Lantern was our super attentive server. I wish I remembered her name, but she most definitely made sure that we were constantly checked up on and timely with our orders. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as great as the service. First off was the Wonton Noodle Soup. It was so bland! The broth was lacking in flavor. Had to add a good amount of soy sauce and chili sauce. The Beef Chow Fun had a healthy amount of beef and unfortunately, an over abundance of lemon grass. Never had lemongrass in a Beef Chow Fun. I love lemongrass, but it was a bit overwhelming in this dish. The fried calamari appetizer wasn't seasoned well. It was crispy but needed a bit more salt & pepper. The Thai Fried Chicken was decent. I had to use the sauce they provided liberally. Of all the dishes ordered, the Honey Walnut Prawns was delicious! The Prawns were a bit crispy and just the right amount of sauce. Compared to other Asian restaurants in comparable casinos across Northern California, prices were a bit on the high side. For example, the Honey Walnut Prawns which had about 9 pieces came to $19.50. My family and I came here on a Saturday night around 6:30 PM to attend a concert (probably the reason why it was so packed here). Fortunately, we only waited about 15 minutes until we were seated. The food came out relatively quick as well, despite us ordering quite a lot of food (three plates of fried rice, lobster, crab, and scallop with veggies). There is also a bar near the entrance and plenty of seating (classic Chinese Lazy Susan tables but also tables for two) throughout the restaurant. Overall, a pretty cute restaurant with classic Chinese decor. If only the price tag on each entree was pretty too (but hey, you're at a casino so what do you expect right?). * Stir-Fried Sticky Rice * This dish was absolutely delicious so we had to order two plates. It was reminiscent of the sticky rice you order off dim sum carts. The sticky rice is cooked with soy sauce and oyster sauce and mixed with dried shrimp, diced Chinese sausage, chopped scallions and shiitake mushrooms. Because of all the ingredients, the texture is amazing - chewy and savory with a nice firm bite here and there. Delicious. * Crab * The deep fried crab was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. It was difficult to eat though because they gave us wet napkins but they didn't give us crab cracker tools. We still managed to devour every piece though because the shell wasn't too tough and at some point you just use your chopsticks as a shovel. * Lobster * The lobster was also deep fried and I actually enjoyed eating the lobster more than the crab (not only is it easier but lobster meat just has that juicy bounce to it when you bite down). However, the lobster did taste a little greasier than I would have liked. Nevertheless, it had a scrumptious flavor. * Shrimp and Scallop Sauté with Sugar Peas * The scallops were oh so juicy and fun to eat. If you love scallop definitely give this a try. It comes with plenty of veggies like mushroom too. Keep in mind that this dish does come in a bath of sauce/liquid so try to drain it off the spoon as you scoop up the goodie goodies. read more
