2nd day in England and we have been following this establishment on Instagram. It was an absolute must for a quick vacay in London. The drive was about 20 mins from where we were staying but so worth the drive. We got there were seated right away and I ordered a barbecue burger and fries. The dining area has a great bar feel with great music choices and dim lights. There's a full bar and the surrounding areas has a variety of clubs and bars that people can check out after. The burger was so delicious the meat was seasoned with so many flavors and the brisket was so good. Definitely one of the best burgers I have ever had!!! If your looking for some yummy food if your in London this is the place to go!

Coming from America, we were not expecting much out of the American food. We were wrong!! Our burgers were amazing. After not being able to eat anything because of jet lag, my boyfriend scarfed down his burger it was so good. I love the shoreditch area- really great place to go for dinner before going out

Chicken wings - decent!

American food was trending heavily in London a few years ago, and it definitely feels like RDS was there to ride the wave in order to warrant its popularity and number of branches. I've heard generally positive things about it so was happy to meet a few friends here for the food and to give it a test. Don't. Mediocrity upon mediocrity, everything here was average to bad - made worse by the fact that it's expensive for what it is. Chicken Wings - average to ok, with nothing special to distinguish them Fried Chicken - tasted like KFC...made me want KFC instead. Still, probably one of the better dishes on the menu as it comes with two sides St Louis Ribs - terrible. Almost tasteless. One of the most expensive items but not worth it in anyway. Also, their Friday deal of £11? It's because they give you a smaller portion - you probably lose out by getting this deal instead of ordering it straight up with sides. Brisket - ok. Nothing special Onion Rings - bad. Had to send them back to ask them to cook it more as the first batch were undercooked and didn't taste like onion. The next set were improved but their recipe just sucks. Fries - worse than oven chips. Seriously. Macaroni Cheese - Didn't taste much like cheese. "Tender Broccoli" - wasn't very tender. Wasn't very good. Banana Split - if you like artificial tasting ice cream you'll love this. Otherwise meh. Mississippi Mud Pie - Looked like a pile of slop but tasted ok. Overall: The food here is not very good and will make you pay a hefty amount for it. The service was REALLY slow, albeit fairly friendly and eager to help when we raised any issues. All I can say is that there are PLENTY of other places in London that offer good American/BBQ food at much better prices. I would pick Bodeans over RDS, and I don't even like Bodeans that much.

This thing cost 16.95 .

Horrifying. We got take away and I was charged 12.5% service charge?! The food was horrible. And above all, the portion size of the pulled pork was so small that paying 16.50 was such a rip off. This was the most expensive meal that I have had, bevuaee it was totally not worth it. Never coming back here again ! :(

Pulled pork sandwich with 'slaw

So this time it was #4 on the list of 5 places to get the best pulled pork sandwich in London: http://www.esquire.co.uk/food-drink/man-food/4101/pulled-pork/4/ I have ventured to Red Dog Saloon with the original idea of the "Hot Wings Challenge" but after carefully reading the menu we have settled on buffalo wings for starters and then some main dish of choice. For me the choice of the main was default: let's check their BBQ pulled pork sandwich. So far my expectations were set really high after Brixton's The Joint and Bodeans in Soho, earlier this week. As it happened, the sandwich served in Red Dog was the worst of the trio. It wasn't very meaty, splices of pork were hidden inside the large bun and you had to dig through the first few bites to actually enjoy the taste. Sauce - what sauce?! I had to poor a pint of some watery mud from the plastic bottles laying on the table (they are labelled with some fancy names, "Kentucky Spice" or something similar, but don't be fooled, it's probably ketchup mixed with some more vinegar). Alright, at least the buffalo wings that we had before the mains were kinda tasty, though chicken is not my kind of thing.

I was not impressed. This place did nothing to placate my opinion of Shoreditch and Hoxton. Whilst my friends really enjoyed their burgers, the wings I had were really bad. I went for the mixed wing platter and none of them were nice. You could also tell the meat wasn't well prepared just by looking at it... And if the hot wings they come on the platter are the same as the ones you get in the hot wing challenge, well... They weren't really very hot at all. Go to the Big Easy if you want proper American food.

I have to admit I am a bit of a sucker for a cool burger joint name so Red Dog Saloon sounded promising. While the service was friendly it was quite slow as the informed us they had just had a power cut and they did discourage one of my friends from trying the spicy wing challenge. Even if that was probably for her own sake she does love a good spicy meal so I would have liked to see her try. Anyway, the burger itself was quite tasty, however the bottom bun was so moist from all the cheese and whatever liquids a burger has that is was impossible to pick up. I had to use a knife and fork to eat it and for me that's not the best sign for a burger. Some of my friends' burgers were the same so it's safe to say that was not a one time incident. Anyway, I wouldn't be totally opposed to going back but it certainly would not be my first choice.

BURGERS BURGERS BURGERS!!! What can I say about those burgers! We order the punisher, the double trouble, french fries and the onion rings, that we really enjoyed! We ordered beers and enjoyed our fantastic burgers!! Francesco was our waiter tonight and he made sure that we are happy and enjoying our night. We were so happy and satisfied with how polite he was, smiley and effective in his service. HOWEVER... Although most of the stuff we're happy and polite, the young female front of house was rude and did not make an effort to smile or be nice at all. She was not enjoying being at work and that was obvious!! Thankfully Francesco was there to make sure that we had what we need. Amazing food, great prices, service was cool but front of the house needs to be improved with someone polite and happy.

Devastator burger

I'd heard very mixed views on this place so couldn't resist going (especially to the the devastator burger). Positives: + Buffalo wings were very good + Good selection of beers + The burger meat was moist and not overcooked. I enjoyed it + No complaints about service + I liked the atmosphere On the other hand.... - I feel its a little pricey for what it is. I ended up with a £40+ bill which consisted of half a wing sampler (starter), fries, devastator burger and 2 beers. To be fair if I'd got a smaller burger it would have been £10-12 cheaper but even a regular burger, fries and drink would be £15+ before tip. - My co-diner didn't enjoy their brisket, and I trust their judgement on food matters - Whilst I enjoyed the burger, it wasn't at the level of Meatmarket or 5 guys - The homemade spicy sauces were really watery - Was the mystery sauce in a little tub for my fries or my burger? not sure it added anything, not sure what it was.... Overall: I intend to go back here, mostly to actually attempt one of the challenges, but if I'm just in the mood for a good burger I'll head somewhere else.

Good, a bit sweet. Messy to eat. 3/5 Truffle fries - good but average 4/5 Polenta - very tasty, a must. 3/5 Duck and waffle - I expected this to be bigger but it was good. I normally prefer chicken but the duck wasn't bad. All the food was decent and the staff were all nice. It's unfortunate that the walk to the restaurant passes by the smelly toilets. Also there was only one lift working that day so it took a little time to get up/down.

I've been looking forward to visiting Duck & Waffle for quite some time. The views are incredible,…read morethe space itself is striking, and on paper it promises that perfect London mix of skyline, late-night energy, and elevated comfort food. Unfortunately, our experience was soured before it even had a chance to begin. My girlfriend and I walked in excited, completely amicable, simply hoping to head upstairs for a bite and drinks. We were greeted by the doorman with an immediate, dismissive "Are you good?" -- not in a welcoming or helpful tone, but in a way that felt skeptical and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no warmth, no "welcome in," no attempt at hospitality. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. He then proceeded to call upstairs as though he were doing us some sort of favor just by allowing us to go up. The entire interaction felt transactional and judgmental rather than gracious. First impressions matter, especially at a place that positions itself as a premium dining destination. Hospitality begins at the door, not at the table. When we finally made it upstairs, the room was filled with visibly drunk, rowdy groups -- which only made the earlier attitude feel even more misplaced. If that environment is acceptable (and profitable), then two polite guests looking for drinks and food shouldn't be met with suspicion at the entrance. By that point, the damage was done. The initial interaction had already rubbed us the wrong way, and the energy upstairs didn't help. We ultimately decided to leave before even sitting at our table. That's how strongly the first impression impacted us. It's difficult to justify staying somewhere when you don't feel genuinely welcomed from the outset. Duck & Waffle has the potential to be memorable for all the right reasons. But someone representing the brand at the very front needs to understand that hospitality isn't optional -- it's foundational. A simple, respectful welcome would have changed everything. I hope management takes this seriously, because no guest should feel judged or dismissed before they even step inside.

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

Fortunately this spot was super close to my hotel. Despite the rainy gloom, this pub was busy and lively! The front end of the pub was mainly for ordering at the bar, but the back end was for proper sit down dining. I got myself a table in the back and the waitress was super nice in giving recommendations for food and drink. I got myself a hard cider on tap (£7 = ~$9 USD), Ocean's fish and chips (£23.50 = ~$31 USD), and sticky toffee pudding (£8.50 = ~$11 USD). The cider came out first and I instantly fell in love with it. Had a nice bubbly fizz to it, but it was incredibly light and refreshing! I haven't had a cider like that in the States, so I was cherishing every drop I had. The Ocean's fish & chips came out next and it was A Lot of food. The fried fish was amazing, as the batter wasn't excessive but still had a substantial crisp to every bite. The fish weren't fishy and tasted quite fresh. The fries were just standard and the mushy peas weren't half bad. Really the fish was the star of the show. I wish I held off before ordering sticky toffee pudding because the fish & chips filled me up. But I'm a dessert (or pudding in the UK) sucker, and it helped round off the meal. Overall very fresh and the ice cream complemented the pudding very well. Good amount of toffee with every bite! Price point mostly felt on par with dining at a standard US restaurant in the Bay Area (fish and chips seemed pricier than what most US restaurants would charge, but it was A Lot), but I left feeling absolutely stuffed but incredibly satisfied.
