The crew came out and went to great lengths to try to find the clog, they were on the roof, pulled the toilet up (and found a problem and repaired that while they were at it), and the problem persisted. So they came back out with a camera and finally found the issue. All of this combined cost less than half of what a previous plumber I used charged to run the camera. I'd trust D and D with any plumbing issue I ever had. And I absolutely know that the price I will pay him will be significantly lower than what you'd pay the guys that advertise on the radio all day.

I was grateful That he was having a slow day he came out and hour later did a bunch of measuring and then cut a hole in my wall found the twisted off pipe. It was copper; not this rubber stuff they use now days. Anyway he use a pipe cutter took a section out; then took the shower arm off and replaced it then reconnected it welded back the copper pipe attached a wood anchor arm on to the pipe so this wouldn't happen again, tested it then resealed the wall. They don't call when they are actually on the way, and they show up after you've called to reschedule because it's after the latest time they said they'd be here, and you're now into overtime pay - and with no face mask in these covid times. I can't deal with having to take **multiple days** off from work - and possibly losing my job - over a broken pipe. I especially can't deal with the modern practice of plumbers sending someone out to do an "estimate", but not to fix anything, and then scheduling an appointment to come out and do the work - forcing the customer to take off multiple times from work. That's just so wrong. I hope this was an aberration and not a common practice with Giesbrecht. What happened to: call the plumber, the plumber comes out and DOES THE WORK and gives you a bill and you pay? Done and done? ONE day off from work, one day of stress and anxiety and fear, and it's over? I'm sure the Giesbrechts are wonderful people. I'm also fairly sure they are good plumbers. I just can't deal with being stood up. I won't get any more time off from work until late MAY. So I guess I will have to live without water for all of March and April, and most (or maybe even all) of May. But don't let my anxieties and stress reflect on them. It's a bad time all around. I requested assistance in troubleshooting a flame loss code on a tankless water heater. It was…read moreapparent pretty early that I knew more about these units than the employees who came out. One was in training and spent a majority of his time sitting outside on his phone. That aside, the primary tech stated they rarely work on these and I had suggested a few things to look for which he agreed was a good idea - almost as he was remembering some distant training he had. He used a service valve that filled the condensation pipe with water which presented a leak within the wall coming out under the drywall. Instead of connecting a hose or something to drain into a bucket he kept using it and causing more water to fill inside the wall. Eventually they had to call the manufacturer for support and they required a manometer to successfully troubleshoot, which the tech proceeded to call a "worthless piece of shit" and hung up because they were not equipped with these tools. They had to come back the next day after acquiring the tools which were ~$100. They proceeded to confirm the heat exchanger and gas valve needed replaced under warranty. The parts were sent to D&H directly while I awaited the quote... $2800 in labor to replace these parts. This was egregious and downright unacceptable. I refused the estimate and requested to pickup the parts myself which they would not provide me as the home owner. The option was to send them back to the manufacturer and I would have to request another warranty replacement. This meant a delay of over a week to send back and honestly felt like a hostage/punishment for refusing their estimate, call out another company, request the parts again and have them replaced. The manufacturer was very helpful in facilitating this but with numerous calls and emails by me to both in order to resolve this made this experience much worse than it had to be. Ultimately, went with McConnell plumbing which replaced the parts and repaired the leaking pipe for $650. They were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to provide a great experience. I won't ever to business with D&H after this and will ensure to tell friends and family who ask for recommendations to not to business with them either.
