    Married under the Apple tree
    Brad G.

My husband and I just held a small wedding at the Red Clover Inn. The wedding was perfect in every way possible. I still smile thinking about how well everything went during our wedding weekend. Covid forced us to cancel a destination wedding back in August. We reached out to The Red Clover Inn and we felt very safe in the Covid/social distancing/screening policies they would use. I was scared that planning a wedding in under two months would be chaotic but Carol's planning alleviated any fear. She helped make recommendations on local vendors, all of whom were top notch. Carol and Sarah were so delightful to work with, answered every question and gave great advice. The setting was beautiful. The Inn is set back in the woods with the peak of Pico Mountain in the background. Tranquil is the way I would describe the grounds. I was looking into a custom arbor to get married under when Carol recommended using their apple tree. There is a huge, beautiful apple tree next to a pond. The branches drape over the wides. My husband and I could not picture a bedding wedding ceremony, all of our guests agreed. My husband and I have been to the Red Clover Inn for a long weekend in the past and have always been impressed with the food. It is actually one of our favorite restaurants. We got to meet with Mike the executive chef and customize a menu for the entire weekend. We both can't state enough how good the food was. The rehearsal dinner, wedding day lunch, cocktail apps, wedding dinner and the breakfast were all phenomenal. We have both been to many weddings and this weekend's food was on a completely different level. All of our guests raved about the food, I was so happy. As for implementing Covid policies, everyone got tested prior to the wedding. Sarah had a temperature probe to screen all the guests as well. The staff wore masks and we even had wedding masks made up for our guests. Everyone felt safe for the entire weekend, had fun and felt normal for the first time since March. We have had no Covid related issues since the wedding. I would like to thank Carol, Sarah, Mike, Tom and all of the Red Clover staff for helping us have the perfect wedding. Every expectation was met and exceeded. My husband and I wouldn't trade the weekend in for anything in the world!

And at night there is so little light pollution you can see all the stars. Very pretty! The room we stayed in (Forest Glen) is cozy and pretty basic, but it did its job well. The bed was comfortable, and the fan and air conditioning were easy to control so we could sleep comfortably. The shower works very well with good pressure and heat. There is a small TV if you feel like watching anything, but definitely enjoy the area instead! The Vermont Inn has a bar inside that closes at 9pm. We didn't try it, but it looked so nice and cozy. If you purchase directly through the website, then breakfast is included each morning. Every day they offer pancakes, french toast, or eggs and bacon, and then there is a daily special omelette. We tried omelettes, french toast, and pancakes, and all were quite good. And the coffee is surprisingly tasty. It appears to be a family operation with the kids taking orders. They are cute and do a great job! Definitely a great place to stay if you're in the Killington area!

There are many cozy public rooms to sit, play board games, read or just talk. The hosts Mike and Kayla were very friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect as it is minutes away from Killington and Pico mountains. The views from the lawn of the mountains are stunning. Rooms were excellent and there was plenty of space. There is a Sauna and pool outside during the summer months. We met a couple that were staying there and planning their wedding with the hosts and it sounded like it was going to be fantastic. They also host bridal showers and other events. The breakfasts were fantastic and our waiters Emerson and Jameson provided excellent service. Thanks to Mike, Kayla and family for great memories. I would highly recommend The Vermont Inn and we will definitely be back.

It was a blast and the hotel was quite pleasant for the genre (mid-range, family friendly). Pros: - There's a nice common room downstairs with a fireplace, where we were able to gather with a big group of friends and share dinner. It's also where breakfast is served in the a.m. - Breakfast service begins at 6 a.m. -- great for those who need an early start. - My kiddos love "Hotel Breakfast" as they call it, and this was no exception. There are two DIY waffle irons with lots of wonderfully unhealthy toppings; hot mini omelettes, sausage, and potatoes; muffins, bagels, toast; cold cereal and oatmeal; fruit salad and whole fruit. - We either had very quiet neighbors or the walls are reasonably well soundproofed. - There's a small, heated pool. It's hyperchlorinated as most hotel pools are, but a nice place to congregate and relax with friends after skiing. - There's a small, but adequate gym -- and a conference room should you need it. - The hotel adjoins a shopping complex that includes a Hannaford's supermarket, an Office Depot and a Michael's. Convenient for friends who had to find poster board for a school project due the following Monday. And we picked up fruit trays and dessert for our team dinner. - The hotel is dog friendly! We traveled without our pup this time, but did get to hang with some great guest canines. This is a massive plus in our book. - Beds were quite comfortable and staff were nice! Two people even dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus to say hello to the kids at dinner. :) Cons: - The elevator was out of order during our stay, so those of us staying on the third floor with lots of ski gear to carry up and down got a GREAT workout. - The pool is quite small, more of a cooler-than-usual hot tub than anything else -- so don't expect to swim laps. - There's no fan or ventilation in the bathroom. After four showers, it gets pretty steamy. Neutral: - It's about 30 minutes from Killington Mountain. There are more proximate, dog friendly hotels (e.g. Killington Mountain Lodge) and Airbnbs, but Hampton Inn Rutland may be better priced. - Our room temperature defaulted to 68 or 69 F. I love that it's eco-friendly and it was a good temperature for putting on ski gear -- but we usually keep our home a bit warmer than this. You can change the temperature of course, but ours kept defaulting to the cooler setting at night. - We're not big TV watchers, but for those who are, I think you need to sign in to Netflix, Disney+, etc... with your own account logins. The hotel does not have its own subscriptions. Overall, this was a great, budget-friendly place to stay with a group!
